AMERICAblog: Sarah Palin thinks it's a good idea to "make sure" we have a plan for Iraq

  • FunMe · 1 year ago
You know, McCain should have just gone to a fast food joint joint and blindfold himself and pointed at someone. And then he should have said YOU! I have selected YOU to be the VP candidate!

It is day 2 ... are we suuuuuuuure this is not a joke??
  • vkobaya · 1 year ago
No one working for the McCain campaign dares cross his temper. Obama should do it since McCain probably hates him already. Obama or Biden can tell McCain that April Fool's Day was 5 months ago.
  • BLOGGING BITCH! · 1 year ago
I did my own little research today.

Every Republican stops dead in their tracks when you tell them that McCain doesn't even know the woman.

I wanna know if McCain intends to pay her as much as if she were a man.
  • katjam · 1 year ago
The question about Sarah Palin is not about her character or even her experience however thin her resume, it is about the depth of her knowledge. She admits to limiting her focus to issues effecting Alaska which is fine for a governor. She may also be content with returning the now powerful role of vice president to that of limited stand-in, but the truth is, however small the chance may be of her becoming our president, we cannot afford to have someone who is not only unfamiliar with national security issues, foreign and domestic affairs, and the economy, but someone has not given even minimum thought to the consequences of actions taken in these areas. Americans do not know what Sarah Palin thinks about our critical issues therefore we cannot judge how she will act if force to take up the reins of power. And we have only two short months to vet her. The press needs to question her fully and immediately; a single vice presidential debate is not sufficient.

The candidacy of not one but two women for the top jobs on a national ticket has been historic but with Hillary Clinton there was never any doubt of the depth and breadth of her understanding of each and every issue. Americans deserve nothing less of a vice presidential candidate in these treacherous times.

The question for me is about two things..

First..She is ideoligical hard extreme right wing nut job, her positions on abortion is utterly outragious and dangerous for women, she doesn't beleive in exceptions for rape and incest? That is RADICAL!

Secondly ..She is not VEEP MATERIAL.... NO RESUME!

I have to imagine the military industrial complex is rubbing its mechanical hands together with glee over the possibility of another vacuous push-over in the Executive branch once Johnny boy breaks William Henry Harrison's record.
I doubt a slattern like Palin will be able to maintain the complexion-smoothing orange spackle that varnished and de-wrinkled her face yesterday.
Many have noted Johnny's ass and tit-locked eyes but not as many noticed Sin-dy putting the couger moves on overly fertile icy hick Todd.

I doubt a slattern like Palin will be able to maintain the complexion-smoothing orange spackle that varnished and de-wrinkled her face yesterday.

We are Democrats and liberals here. Please keep the discussion to the high road and avoid the lies and untrue remarks that will only egg Republicans to close their eyes to the more than sufficient real faults of McCain's choices. The woman is totally unqualified to be a heartbeat away from the presidency and reflects McCain's failing judgment and unfitness to be president.
  • vkobaya · 1 year ago
Remarks like yours discredit out side and strengthen theirs. Stick to honesty and even Republicans will have to face the truth about her zero qualifications.
  • Rob Mule · 1 year ago
What exactly was dishonest? The woman's neck was, as video clearly shows, wrinkled and pale and her face was drum-tight and orange.
Concern troll hand-wringing high-road reminders are a staple of the fascist failure criticism motif.
Again, and I say it twice to insure your comprehension, where did I lie in the above comment?
  • tardigrade · 1 year ago
I think McCain's attitude is - "Fuck It!" I am going to do what ever I want.... But then, I think that he and Bush and folks like him (the privileged class) think that way because they CAN.... and have not suffered from those ideas or actions.

But... with that... and being in the spot light... perhaps looking at possibly the real reason he chose Palin... is captured in this one photo...

McCain is the dottering dirty old man.... http://bagnewsnotes.typepad.com/bagnews/2008/08...

I think the cat fights will be entertaining...
  • AdrianBrowne · 1 year ago
Let her talk all she wants to and get her (lack of) knowledge out there and point out that SHE IS MCCAIN'S CHOICE FOR VP. That's a decision he made. That's a reflection of his judgement.

  • LeeBurl · 1 year ago
I will say this about Palin's selection. She has energized me to work even harder and give more money to Obama. She is a dangerous ideologue. We don't even have to go after her on experience. Her far right views are enough to underscore the urgency of electing Obama.

The baby actually belongs to her unwed 16 year-old daughter:

    http://www.adn.com/news/alaska/story/336402.html
  • MrsTarquinBiscuitbarrel · 1 year ago
That's a very interesting concept, BB--let's see how this plays out. How could SP NOT be "showing" at five months with a fifth baby? No matter how fit she is!

The day after I learned I was expecting my third, I no longer could button my skirt. Just sayin'...

Also, why is perfectly all right for a red-meat social conservative woman with five kids to work full-time-plus, when other women are slammed for not raising their own kids 24/7? Especially with a Down syndrome child--though the severity of the impairment varies dramatically, and Palin's son is just four months old, for people who raise their own Down's kids, an enormous amount of hands-on time is required. Who'll do it? The daughters? The help? The Secret Service?

KBH, Olympia Snowe, and a number of other GOP women are all pro-choice. Ding.

Is the media going to ask McCain why he would choose a running mate who is under state investigation for abuse of power?
  • coolcatdaddy · 1 year ago
Is the media going to press McCain on the big issue of his mental and physical health? Especially after his recent remarks to the press and his choice of VP?

I encourage everyone to sign this petition - it might not get much attention, but it's worth a shot at raising the issue:

    http://www.democrats.com/mccain-owes-america-an...

I have a relative with dementia and McCain's actions raise serious questions - McCain's campaign has to come clean on the state of his health and fitness for office.
  • BLOGGING BITCH! · 1 year ago
McCain didn't make it to the Senate this year to vote. He also didn't go to Alaska. Rove picked her.
  • FunMe · 1 year ago
    I finally found it!

I found the AUDITION tape showing the song that the former "beauty queen" sang to John McCrazyCain in order to be SELECTED the next queen of America's Got "Talent".

She thought she was auditioning for that but it's really the VP slot! Little did she know.

Anyway kiddos, enough with the wait.
I present to you the talent portion of the contest i.e. the song Palin sang to garner the VP slot:

How sad that she doesn't care enough about her own child to know what her own party's plan for the war is before they ship him off to Iraq.

If she's that careless with her own children, what she going to do for yours???
  • Bush_Bites · 1 year ago
    Neither does McCain.
  • lnking3 · 1 year ago
I love the fact that her son is being deployed on September 11. This way the McCain campaign can bring to mind the tragedy of that day without actually talking about it. This is very well planned by Rove. They have a women (to get sympathy from the women voters). They have a son leaving on the anniversary of the attacks on America. They have a "hockey mom" that helped get the "old fat cat republicans" in her state arrested or indicted - at least three. This shows the people who are tired of the old Washington that she is ready to do what she needs to to bring change.

Rove was a major player in picking Palin. He knows what he is doing - look at the last 8 years. Think of how people will feel when Biden attacks her lack of knowledge on the many issues. The MSM will start saying that he is doing this because she is a women. This is very well planned.

Also, doesn't Palin look a lot like Karen from Will and Grace? Just saying!

I was angry yesterday, and then woke up in the middle of the night even angrier.

Do men really think that women are so stupid that they just want a woman in office, rather than a qualified woman in office?
  • Bush_Bites · 1 year ago
    I know.

If McCain had picked Olympia Snow or Kay Bailey Hutchinson, we'd all be pretty concerned this morning.

    But this is a joke.

Of course, KBH and Snow are both senators, so Mccain probably has some stupid feud going with each of them, as he does with most of his colleagues.
  • An_American_Karol · 1 year ago
Yes, Rita, they really, really do.
What bothers me is there are some 'so called" Hillary supporters who will vote gender rather than ability.
  • hawkseye · 1 year ago
I think very few HRC supporters will be swayed by this. Just my opinion. Carville said yesterday that HRC had 18 million voters and 18 of them will vote for Palin.
  • julls · 1 year ago
    It's unbeleivable!

She sounds like a young girl who is blathering on and on about something she knows little about. She can not articulate a position, even a position of ignorance is rolled into a confusing blur of words..

What in the hell is McCain thinking? This is NOT putting America first!

McCain you will NOT get away with this, you may want to look at this womens ANTI ISRAEL positions as well.. HELL NO TO THIS CRAVEN POLITICLA PICK!

Positioning itself as a fish wrap also ran, the NYT said this in their page 1 story:

Mr. McCain chose someone who in some ways resembles Mr. Obama...Palin offered clues to how Mr. McCain would govern: holding deliberations to a tight circle of advisers, looking beyond the obvious options, taking risks and relishing surprise.

The Times calls this talking point round up "analysis"...

He's making Presidential War Powers permanant. The Patriot Act is now the new Bill of Rights.
  • An_American_Karol · 1 year ago
The DNC needs ads pointing out Palin's ignorance. It can't afford to be afraid of her gender.
  • aquarius2 · 1 year ago
I think that would be okay but I think the ads should focus on the judgment ,or lack thereof, of John McCain's willingness to pick a candidate with virtually no knowledge of government to succeed him in the event of his inability to continue as president.

Somewhere I read a statement that said "she can be brought up to speed". So on the job training is okay for a second in command? I don't think so and it shows unbelievable contempt for the office of the second in command.

If I were a reporter, here are questions I want answered about Palin.

Did she or did she not lie about Wooten's firing?

Are the rumors about the birth of her fifth child true or untrue? Is this her daughter's child, her sister's child or truly her child?

Does her husband Todd attend high level meetings in the governor's office as reported by some? If so, why is a common citizen allowed to attend such high level meetings?

What was her job as Commissioner of the Alaska Oil and Energy Conservation Commission and why did she leave?

What is the exact nature of her husband's job with BP Oil?

When she left as mayor of the small town, did she leave it in better or worse financial condition?

Did she actually agree to the "bridge to nowhere" and then did she change her mind and why?

It must have been a panic choice. I don't think they even knew about Troopergate or the baby. They had their list of choices, then someone said they're all out, we need to upstage Obama's speech and pick a woman. Hutchison and Snowe were out because they've actually worked with the guy and can't stand him. The campaign had 10 minutes to go through a who's who of the GOP, and this is what happened.

"I've always been a believer that God's not going to give us anything that we cannot handle," Palin said.

Just about every Saturday morning I check in with an elderly couple that lives down the street. The custom started a couple years ago when the husband had a stroke and could no longer drive. A few us neighbors started to run errands and do minor house maintenance projects for them. They are very old school Republicans and the subject of politics is usually avoided.

Well, this morning they both greeted me at the door with tears in their eyes. They invited me in and we sat down. I prepaired to hear sad news, or something. Turns out, they were so completely embarrassed with Palin and just wanted to express their feelings about it. Its been quite a morning.

Digital websites are being scrubbed and I mean scrubbed of anything remotely negative concerning Palin

    http://www.bluehampshire.com/showDiary.do?diary...
  • AngelaChanning · 1 year ago
I feel like we are in the freakin Twilight Zone. All of these Republican pundits are saying this is such a great choice and then they have the audacity to say she has more experience than Obama? And now the Democrats are pulling back because they are afraid of the sexism charge. This is like the Emperor's New Clothes and the question is, how long will it last? My fear is that she is slick enough to fool people into voting for the ticket. We should not underestimate someone who is delusional enough to have accepted the VP slot in the first place. It is like if I were offered the Chief Technology Officer position because the company wanted to promote themselves as gay friendly. One, I know the position is over my head and two, I would not allow myself to be used. Un-freaking-believable. Thank you for listening to my rant.
  • naschkatzehussein · 1 year ago
Fifteen minutes of fame. She's bombing out already because she is a really shallow candidate. And the Democrats are not pulling back. They are just being smart enough not to make a victim out of her.
  • aquarius2 · 1 year ago
Think about this, IF McCain did fully vet this woman then what must it say about his feelings towards voters?

In the short time since the announcement tons of negative findings have been reported, barely anything concretely positive. So McCain still "doesn't get it". He still thinks the American people will swallow any swill HE decides to put forth.
  • naschkatzehussein · 1 year ago
I don't know anything about Iraq, but if I should become president, don't worry, the big oil companies will tell me what to do.
  • AngelaChanning · 1 year ago
OH! I can't wait til the first time Hillary says something critical about Palin and the press spins it as a catfight. Thank you for listening.
  • naschkatzehussein · 1 year ago
Hillary is being very careful. She congratulated the Republicans on their historic action, but they are not setting precedent. We did with G. Ferrarro many moons ago. Hillary still wants to be the first woman president, or at least, the first woman vice-president. She won't let this nobody usurp that.
  • pilgrim_billy99 · 1 year ago
What this says about voters is that McCain thinks they'll identify with her. Let's face it: most people don't know what to do about Iraq, either. This is all about who can be more "every(wo)man." If experience, or even issues, mattered, Al Gore would be wrapping up 8 years right now.

    They don't.
  • soapdish · 1 year ago
My new line is "Do you really want this woman to be one carcinoma away from the presidency?"
