AMERICAblog: Saturday Morning Open Thread

For a presidential candidate whose campaign tries to promote as the Greatest and Bravest and Truest and Most Patriotic American Hero since George Washington, John McCain sure is a whiny little bitch, isn't he?
  • Fireblazes(cheetohsandcatfood) · 1 year ago
McC (like Mcdonalds, bland, tasteless, trying to be everything to everyone) has a new commercial out in NM where it ends with the tag line: "John McCain A Genuine Maverick."

    Funny stuff
  • ron071 · 1 year ago
McCain is " Genuine" ? Something is very wrong with this characterization. What is a " Maverick"? McCain a hero? Real heroes are those

whose awards include a Medal of Honor. What is John McCain? His behaviors are best able to characterize him as a Bush clone.

C-SPAN reached a new low in yellow journalism this morning by having Jerome Corsi as a guest. C-SPAN over time has evolved from a being a legitimate, disinterested source of political news and information into what it has become; just another propaganda operation hell bent on destroying Barak Obama.

C-SPAN will have any wingnut on and claim it's "balance"

Did anyone see the story yesterday that KERRY could be on Obama's VP list? Gives me cold chills just thinking of it (and not the GOOD kind of cold chills either!)....

    don't hold a drudge
  • houstonray · 1 year ago
Did Drudge have the story up? I try to avoid his "blog" whenever I can...I saw it on realclearpolitics as I was scanning the topics along the side of the page and it scared me! lol. Should have known the righties would try to push the story. They are so scared of who Obama will pick and so they try to throw out all these red herrings....
  • Bush_Bites · 1 year ago
I think I've heard his name mentioned, but Obama's smart enough to know that would be suicide.

I can't believe it's not down to Biden and Bayh by now.

(Bayh may give him Indiana, so I say go with that. I know a lot of people have trouble with Bayh, but he brings a lot of electability arguments to the table--indiana, from Hillary camp, whitebread Midwesterner--and he also has enough experience in Washington to help Obama hack through the bureaucracy and congress.)
  • houstonray · 1 year ago
I like both of those choices. I think Obama is in a unique position. He is young enough that he almost needs someone older as a choice, just to sort of balance out the whole 'experience' perception that so many of the undecideds have, and yet, I always think of the VP as the potential successor to a successful two term President.

Joe Biden is 66, he'd be 74 (!) in 8 years (older than McCain now) and so I think a younger choice would be better for Obama. That's why I think Bayh might be higher up the list....
  • Fireblazes(cheetohsandcatfood) · 1 year ago
I find them both horrifying. 2 more old white men.
  • ron071 · 1 year ago
fireblazes: Bayh an " old white man"? What are you talking about? Take a good look at McSame and then get back to us about " old white men".
  • Fireblazes(cheetohsandcatfood) · 1 year ago
Sorry, I misspoke. One is an old homophobe. The other another midwestern white guy that brings nothing to the ticket. 2 senators from the midwest , so much for depth. Its like twins.
  • ron071 · 1 year ago
fireblaze: Who would be your two best VP picks? I'm not a fan of Bayh, but
one must admit that he DOES bring things to the table. Experience as a very
successful governor. Senatorial experience. Popularity in an important
swing state ( Indiana ). Known for not making mistakes. Also was in the
Hillary camp for what that may be worth. His major drawback was his war vote which
he has repudiated. Not a really controversial pick. Which picks do you
    favor? Ron

So far the only one I like is the name that dare not be mentioned on
this blog. Bayh is like Obama's twin in politics. He is like the
same with more experience. I am just too radical. I think we need
someone to bring in the left side of the party. You know the real
liberal as opposed to the centrists who say they are liberal. I wear
the liberal label proudly, the term progressive sounds too much like a
    slot machine..

It seems to be more annoying than anything else. I could not get past the first few seconds. There are liars and then there are Damn liars. Then there are those that you should ignore and not promote, even in opposition.

The anti-Obama Dems are lunatics, and anything that proves it is a good thing.

Sadly, that is human nature and that's politics. Look at the way politics work in Africa. I don't excuse I can only wonder how we got as "advanced" as we have.
  • ron071 · 1 year ago
Those PUMA people are beyond definition of categorization. Who are they and what do they want? I am in disbelief and must question their authenticity. Since there is nothing
that would satisfy them, I can only assume they are Republican agents in disguise. Nothing else makes sense. Calling them lunatics is not an answer sinc
    ce they appear sane enough.

How completely shameful shameful that Obama still is struggling with the disgusting charge that he is a Muslim. Anyone who uses this (Hillary and McCain) should slime back under the rocks they slimed out from. What I don't get is that sunlight doesn't make them shrivel up. It's not only disgracefully racist, it is fundamentally unAmerican.

Another point! There is nothing wrong with being Muslim. It is another of the world's great religions and they confess to belief in the same God as Christians tracing their religion back to Abraham. Of all people, we should not be letting a bigot, George Bush, set the standards for what religions are acceptable. The Muslim extremists simply reflect extremism and we have the same sort of idiots in own, hateful very evil Christian fundamentalists who see nothing wrong with killing gays and abortionists. There is no reason why if Obama were a Muslim he couldn't be president of the United States and be an outstanding president ... vastly better than the current Satanist-in-Chief.

Slime is Slime. These Repubthugs will use any and all slime since that's what they have to offer. This is now well known. What is still open to question is how many American voters will be fooled yet for a THIRD TIME ??

For any who might be interested, my partner and I will be married today, here in Wine Country California.
This is an article that appeared on the front page of the local paper.

There will be another article next week about the wedding.
All of our children and grandchildren will be there along with about 200 guests, so we're pretty excited!

    THE BUSH DISASTERS CONTINUE

Bush continues to be a menace to this country. Now, add to the wars started by Bush to the new enemy to be contested ( Russia ). Add the economic disaster he created and adds to by the day. Bush will represent a US disaster until the day and minute of his departure. How can any voter even consider a vote for more of the same. It's beyond belief. Additionally, there's the Iran surprise waiting in the wings.

WANT MORE OF THE SAME PAIN????VOTE McBUSH!!!!!!!!
