I just thought I'd try the "record video comment" link. Hadn't tried it in awhile, and it used to not work. It works!

It was actually very easy to video blog and publish it.

Very nice. Now I know how to pronounce your name too. I thought it was "cowboy-knee-oc"!
  • cowboyneok · 1 year ago
It actually stands for "cowboy - northeastern - oklahoma"

Not necessarily because I'm always wearing western clothes, but my family does have a horse / cattle / sheep ranch.
  • Older_Wiser · 1 year ago
    Fantastic!! You came across wonderfully!
  • red_dwarf · 1 year ago
Hey cowboy - you ole dog! I've been reading your posts for years now. Your video is great, very clear, well, > reasonably clear, can hear you perfectly. Nice change - putting a face and a voice to a handle. Well done cowboy.

Added to Blackwater's impressive resume of criminal activity: Gun-running in Iraq. Yes, Blackwater's smuggling guns and silencers into Iraq in sacks of dog food.

Well done, Tim. Heard on NPR this am that they are expecting at least 1 million today in the US and 9 foreign countries.

No, this is hardly over. Peace and love!
  • cowboyneok · 1 year ago
    Thanks, "Older_Wiser"

back atcha - PEACE AND LOVE!
  • Topher · 1 year ago
OMG. It's so cool to actually be able to see and hear you!
  • cowboyneok · 1 year ago
I know! Its very cool. I don't know why I tried the link this morning. Maybe it was a G-d thing because we are all going to be marching today, and I SO want our community to use the tenets of Martin Luther King and Ghandi to non-violently resist these hateful amendments. YES WE CAN!
  • Topher · 1 year ago
Yes we can!! The protest in NYC Wednesday was angry yet 100% non-violent. I'm expecting the same today, but on a larger scale. Seems like there have only been a few isolated events associated with all of the protests the last 10 days, which makes me proud.
  • cowboyneok · 1 year ago
This is definitely a movement that benefits from those important lessons we learned from Martin Luther King and Ghandi. Thank G-d they paved our way for us.

  • Topher · 1 year ago
I wanted to wish everyone luck today at the protests. Be safe. Be proud. Be loud!!
  • cowboyneok · 1 year ago
    Thanks Topher!

    I agree... non-violent resistance ROCKS!

The LA fires sound frightening...the Santa Anas are described as "hurricane force" and it will be 92 degrees there, 20 degrees over normal. Fire officials are worried about saving lives, since this is a very fast moving fire--get out before you even see it, might be too late by that time.

i am a single, bisexual mother of three children, 10, 11, and 13...all adopted, all african-american. we are a regular melting pot family....lol.....due to me having to work today and the demands of being a single mom, we will march in spirit today.....and here is my poem of the day.

Love Should Grow Up Like a Wild Iris in the Fields

Love should grow up like a wild iris in the fields,
unexpected, after a terrible storm, opening a purple
mouth to the rain, with not a thought to the future,
ignorant of the grass and the graveyard of leaves
    around, forgetting its own beginning.
Love should grow like a wild iris
    but does not.

Love more often is to be found in kitchens at the dinner hour,
tired out and hungry, lingers over tables in houses where
the walls record movements, while the cook is probably angry,
and the ingredients of the meal are budgeted, while
a child cries feed me now and her mother not quite
hysterical says over and over, wait just a bit, just a bit,
love should grow up in the fields like a wild iris
    but never does
really startle anyone, was to be expected, was to be
predicted, is almost absurd, goes on from day to day, not quite
blindly, gets taken to the cleaners every fall, sings old
songs over and over, and falls on the same piece of rug that
never gets tacked down, gives up, wants to hide, is not
brave, knows too much, is not like an
iris growing wild but more like
    staring into space
    in the street
    not quite sure
which door it was, annoyed about the sidewalk being
slippery, trying all the doors, thinking
if love wished the world to be well, it would be well.

    Love should
grow up like a wild iris, but doesn't, it comes from
the midst of everything else, sees like the iris
of an eye, when the light is right,
feels in blindness and when there is nothing else is
    tender, blinks, and opens
    face up to the skies.
    ~ Susan Griffin ~

our love is springing up in the ordinary work we do today.......

My spouse and I have moved to a Quaker retirement center in Santa Rosa, CA, and now we are unpacking and unpacking and unpacking and ,,,

This branch of Quakers doesn't care who you are and all we have met have congratulated us on our recent marriage. The hospitality committee brought us a loaf of nut bread and our nearest neighbor brought us flowers. Others have stopped by to say hi. It is a real community, full of loving people who spend their days doing good for county and Santa Rosa residents and having fun. For instance, they have an active committee who raise funds for the homeless. They also have a Peace and Justice group, and the local politicians make stops here where they can speak to 100 voters in the library. All here are leftists---not a Republican in the group.

We're too exhausted by the move to join in the protest marches and gatherings, but we are sending loving thoughts and cheering on our younger friends who are raising peaceful hell.

I don't have my speakers hooked up to my computer yet, so I have seen but not heard Cowboy's video this morning, but I am looking forward to it.

    Cheers to all!
