I accept that statement at face value. Republicans build their entire system on the ridicule of others and talk about "just having fun" as if ridicule was a game they like to play. Oddly, it's a one way street. Why aren't we ridiculing the drooly old man who thinks he's making sense? Because we're nice people, we're Democrats. We're too nice to get back into the White House. Isn't that sad?

Is it over with Clinton, inquiring minds want to know.
n the video, one person in attendance asks Clinton "to please consider having your name put in nomination." To that, Clinton responds, "[That] is a question that I think is a very obvious one to ask, I mean, what will happen at the convention with respect to my putting my name in nomination, a roll call vote... No decisions have been made, and so we are trying to work all this through with the DNC and with the Obama campaign."
My Lord, the Clinton's just don't seem to get it. This desparate act, if it happens, and something i predicted would happen, would finish her forever. Sorry Hillary, time to support Obama and stop this insanity.

The fundies are claiming now that Obama is the anti-christ so McRove has put out an ad to appeal to those whack-jobs. McRove said he was "just having some fun::
Before its too late maybe the Democrats ought to lay down some rules about who moderates the debates. If we get the "Good Ole Boys" like Bob Scheiffer, Bryan Williams, Charles Gibson and George Stepanopoulis, Barak is going to get hammered while McCain gets his well kissed ass massaged by these closeted Repo-fascists.

That will never happen. Expect the usual MSM rentboys (and girls) to bend over, apply lube, and enjoy the ride from their pitcher CEOs from NBC, ABC, CBS, and FOX. Catchers, all.

Suppose Barak came back from the war and found his wife disfigured by a horrible auto accident. Appalled by her appearance he takes up with a beer baroness who becomes his mistress, then his trophy wife. How long would it take the MSM to make this such a big story that it blocks out the sun?

I just recieved this late last night from Obama's facebook supporter group. It includes a link to his donation page.
"I wanted you to be the first to hear the news....
On Thursday, August 28th, he's scheduled to formally accept the Democratic nomination...Instead, Barack will leave the convention hall and join more than 75,000 people for a huge, free, open-air event where he will deliver his acceptance speech to the American people.
If you make a donation of $5 or more between now and midnight on July 31st, you could be one of 10 supporters chosen to fly to Denver and spend two days and nights at the convention, meet Barack backstage, and watch his acceptance speech in person. Each of the ten supporters who are selected will be able to bring one guest to join them.
Make a donation now and you could have a front row seat to history...It will be an event you'll never forget."
A few questions: Will the democratic party get mad that he's ditching to party with the college kids? And does McCain's campaign take such good advantage of facebook? I immediately made a donation, which I hadn't even done yet.

Since this is an open thread, I'll pass this along. If you are using Internet Explorer you may have already noticed that many websites are not working. This is happening to every site that has a Sitemeter hit counter (which is an awful lot of sites/blogs).
The fix if it's happening to your site is to remove the sitemeter code until sitemeter fixes it (It's been almost a full day now, so don't hold your breath.). There's an example of how/what the code looks like at the first link above
If you don't want to use another browser, here's a workaround to be able to view pages with sitemeter in IE7:
IE7: Click on the menu Tools -> Internet Options. Click on the tab 'Security'. Click on the icon 'Restricted Sites.' Click on the button 'Sites'. Type the text ‘.sitemeter.com’ (without quotes). Click the 'Add' button.”
This blocks sitemeter from your browser and will allow the page to load.

Pity our once feared now tragicomic overlords now facing their intellectual Rubicon in a torrent of self-created jibberish. Curious how just as Senator Obama began to elaborate on how the press furthers sly McStain spin via baleful press availibility questions old MSNBC decided they simply had to cut away. McCain's spinning while Rome burns...To me, that self-centered lack of serious concern sounds more like Britney and Paris 'tude.

The whining by big Corporations continues. Now they are saying the cost of putting country of origin labels on goods is too expensive.
American companies will spend $2.5 billion next year complying with new country-of-origin food label rules, the Agriculture Department now estimates.
Consumers will pay, too. But in return, they'll know more about what they're eating. In the wake of a salmonella outbreak that's been traced to Mexican-grown hot peppers, some think that the tradeoff is worth the price.
"Consumers want to know where their food comes from," Barry Bedwell, the president of the Fresno-based California Grape and Tree Fruit League, said Friday. "We see this very much as a reasonable approach."
The department published its cost estimates Friday in a 45-page assessment in the Federal Register, the official document for federal rule-making.
The Agriculture Department reported Friday that the start-up costs will be followed by $499 million in annual maintenance costs. Critics previously have contended that the Agriculture Department has been exaggerating the costs.
"This rule potentially will have an impact on all participants in the supply chain," the department noted Friday. "The greatest impact (will be) on retailers and intermediaries — handlers, processors, wholesalers, and importers — while the impact on individual producers is likely to be relatively small."
The department added that "the expected benefits are . . . difficult to quantify" but probably will be "small."
The head of the department is a long time Bushie named Ed Shafer. Schafer has also served as an advisor and sometimes spokesperson for the North Dakota chapter of Americans for Prosperity, a nationwide limited-government/pro-growth organization. So of course the cost estimates might not be skewed to favor business.
Frightening that our Congress does not pass this and make it happen. On every issue like this our Congress takes the money and turns its back on America.

Obama is too skinny to be Commander in Chief. At least two-thirds of America is overweight and can't relate to a President who turns his nose up at ice cream and won't even eat ice cream with his kids. How can he be the guy we want to have a beer with, if he doesn't drink beer because it's too fattening? (Friday's Murdoch Street Journal).

It's time that McCain stop baIting the press with his daily doze of HATE MONGERING!
BUT MORE IMPORTABLY,... IT'S THE THE PRESS STOPS TAKING THE BAIT AND SATOP TAKING THE EASY ROAD AND START DOING SOME REAL WORK!
As long as the press keep feeding at McCain's trough of hate... the more he's going to feed the bait to you guys, i.e the press!
IT'S TIME TO ADDRESS THE ISSUES NOT THE BULL SHIT!
The American people want and needs to know and under stand the differences between McCain and Obama, as well as the differences between the democrats and the republicans!
For starters the press might want to look into the fascist leanings that today's right wing, republican party and their christian enablers are endorsing of late!

The poem is swell but that's only about half of the original. It's longer and it's nastier in Spanish.
How true is that still today. We have technology and weapons and research unheard of 20 years ago. Yet we still let our leaders instill fear.
