Despite all the talk about Obama and McCain's big media buys for the Olympics, I saw one ad for McCain in a national ad slot on NBC during the Opening Ceremonies and not one for Obama. Also, it looked like most of the slots were given over to local stations for their own advertisers.
McCain's ad was the "would you trust a celebrity who will take away all your jobs" spot and didn't seem particularly memorable when compared with the other ads created with Olympic themes from the other national advertisers. I kept expecting an Obama spot with his "work together, hope" themes, which would have fit in really well with the tone of the evening.

I see non-stop TV ads for McCain here in DC... and I see an Obama ad once in a RARE while. McCain seems to be out-spending Obama on TV ads by 100 to 1.

I've noticed that as well her in NoVA. I admit I get a chuckle whenever I see the Obama celebrity" ad - can't believe McCain's campaign is still running it.

It's funny - I live in NC and Edwards seemed to have quite a bit of support among male academics and white collar professionals around the liberal business centers of the state. But, in the wider scope of NC, people seemed to look at him as something of a phony "Mr. Plastic".
I've wondered about this thing from the beginning. The lady got $120K to produce these rather crappy web videos during his campaign that honestly look like something that would be done by a college intern. If you look at her background, she seems like more of an opportunist than anything else. I'm sorry, but I think Edwards and Hunter deserve each other, especially after reading this article about Hunter's background:
Obama seems to have adopted an invisibility theme. Hard to fathom. I need to reminded occasionally about the things he stands for cause all I am hearing is that he is self centered, unexperienced and must be banging Britney and Paris. With the millions in the till hard to believe he has the best Marketing and Advertising staff.

Saturday morning musings by Ms Thang Rodeo Queen Pillpoppin' Sugarmama Cindy McSame:
"Well, possums, it's a wild weekend here at the...oh shit I forgot which of our nine houses I am at...wait I'll ring for Consuela...anyway isn't just awful what an adulterer John Edwards is? More's the pity he ain't the Dem Nom...oh well Johnny told me that only Repubs really believe in family values. Well I did say don't forget Johnny you were boinking MOI while your ex was recovering in the hospital. But then again, Johnny, I had all that beer money to throw around and make you a senator. So just shut the fuck up about adultery. Let's get back to tire gauges, sweetums. Well all for now possums, Chanel is having a sale today at the Scottsdale store and I need another luncheon suit, with matching handbag and shoes. I'll check back in tomorrow! Oh and don't forget to read our Phoenix diary about our sordid lives!"

QUESTION: Senator, did you ever have any meeting with any of your staffers in which they would have intervened to ask you not to see Vicki Iseman or to be concerned about appearances of being too close to a lobbyist? MCCAIN: No. QUESTION: No meeting ever occurred? MCCAIN: No. QUESTION: No staffer was ever concerned about a possible romantic relationship? MCCAIN: If they were, they didn't communicate that to me. QUESTION: Did you ever have such relationship? MCCAIN: No. QUESTION: Senator, can you describe your relationship with Vicki Iseman? MCCAIN: Friends. Seen her on occasions, particularly at receptions and fund-raisers and appearances before the committee. I have many friends in Washington who represent various interests and those who don't, and I consider her a friend.

Great photo of McCain during an early debate with Richard Kimball in Arizona. Look at the photo on the right. Apparently McCain was quoted as saying he wanted to kill Kimball because he pointed out McCain was on a box. Guess that is why the candidates will be seated during the debates.
McCain and his campaign says he's 5'9". On Wed, Maureen Dowd claimed 5'6". Other reports put him at 5'7", and like all old men, he's shrinking still further...

People are such followers and otherwise copycats. I was just out in my patio garden and happened to look around. I'm the only one who ever parked their vehicle backed up with the front ready to roll. Now everbody does it. It's like we're all down the line ready to take off for war.
Lets not get carried away! Communist, fascist, and totalitarian regimes all put on spectacular propaganda shows. The communist regime ruling over China today is no different. No doubt the Nazis in Germany put on one hell of a propaganda show at the Berlin Olympics in 1936.
Remember, the very same communist regime that put on that show last night also carried out the Tienanmen square massacre.

Good morning! During the Victorian Era, Romantic poets like Percy Bysshe Shelly, Wordsworth and the others, often gave public readings that were almost as enthusiastically received as rock concerts today. The poetry slam continues that tradition with a fresh theme and an urban style.
