She will be turning over the reins of government to Lt. Gov. Sean Parnell because "every good point guard knows when it's time to pass the ball so that the team can win." She compared her resignation as governor of Alaska to her time as a point guard on the Wasilla High School girls' basketball team.

Apparently the lesson she learned playing basketball in high school is that quitters win?!? Or is it that winners quit? Oh, wait, now I get it: "only dead fish go with the flow" and if she stayed on as governor she would be a dead fish. Pretty clever, right? Whatever.

Trying to make sense of anything Sarah Palin says gives me a headache.
  • R_Elland · 5 months ago
Hmn. Given North Korea's leader is a bit of an egotist, guess Wasilla, Alaska just got put into the targeting computer.
Poor Sara. It couldn't have happened to a nicer girl.
Wait, it WOULDN'T have happened to a nicer girl!

What's the difference between Kim Jong-Il and Sarah Palin? No, seriously, what's the difference? Anyone?
  • Allie · 5 months ago
Oh, well - she's not firing missiles and threatening the world, and her people are not so poor they're eating human flesh. :)
  • Jophus · 5 months ago
After the AIP involvement, I wouldn't rule the effort out of her future.
  • JohnnieWalker · 5 months ago
You really love defending this woman don't you?
She is so out of her depth it isn't funny, and all that shit about smaller government etc. what a line of bs...she has been married to the seccessionist way too long...

That speech last night was bizzare and made no sense and all of those basketball references....and
we are not retreating, we are advancing in another direction....what a cock. The ONLY thing
that could make this whackadoodle resign, is the fact that something is quickly coming down the road and she has to get out in front of it or she will be toast.

By the way the scarist thing about her is the fact that if she did have missiles she probably WOULD use then, she is that much like KIM.
  • Allie · 5 months ago
Who's defending her? I'm smart enough to not buy into all the bull that is spouted here or anywhere - nor fall to the lowest depths of society by tearing up her children - any more than I would tear up O's children.

My statement stands, she's not firing missiles and her people are not eating humans. Prove to me that that is a wrong statement. Not what you think, not what you wish, not your over emotional reaction, but actual fact and proof. Didn't think so.

I know it drives the left nuts when the right (or perceived right) uses logic and reason to take apart your viewpoints. But really - do you think you might be able to express a viewpoint with logic and rationale instead of kneejerk emotionalism? Or will you roll in the gutter with your compatriots and come out with a load of cussing and name calling?

And the true scariest thing for you all, which has been expressed and admitted here on this blog, is that she might actually run for national office and win.

One has nukes. The other doesn't.
One has all but starved the population into submission'
    The other paid them off
One has a mad belief that he is invulnerable from attack from the greater power from the north
The other knows, deep down, that the power to East, West, and South isn't going to ever attack.
One would prefer to be king of the world.
The other just blew her one chance to be queen of the world.

Sure hope some enterprising journo has connected all the dots from the "million dollar house" to the Wasilla Stadium. The gifts that keep on giving. Thank you party of NO, for having that big tent, filled with the nation's most outstanding "NUT" cases. Happy 4th of July.
  • markf217 · 5 months ago
As narcissistic (and havng a great lust for power) as Palin is, something (scandal about to break) has to be driving her from office. This should be very interesting.
  • KarenMrsLloydRichards · 5 months ago
Max Blumenthal at The Daily Beast is doing exactly that.
  • Butch1 · 5 months ago
Happy July 4th to everyone! Fire up those barbecues and celebrate.

As we used to say in the service, "Light 'em if you smoke 'em!" ;-)

Has anyone been over to Freeperville to see how they're reacting to the Sarah Palin affair? I'd go, but I really don't have the stomach for that.
  • Jophus · 5 months ago
Most of them are saying stuff like BO quit the Senate and of course liberals are confused. Over there it has almost nothing to do with Palin and everything to do with liberals.
  • Jophus · 5 months ago
Also they are claiming that Rush said last week that he was going to announce something very big soon, then Palin did this, and next week he is on a "golf vacation." I'm not exactly sure what they think these two "patriots" are planning, but I'd really like to know.
  • Ninong · 5 months ago
Palin bragged about everything she has done for Alaska, starting with predator control (shooting wolves from planes), which she said has been attacked by out-of-state interests.

Right after shooting wolves from planes came turning down federal stimulus money, which will probably be reversed now that she has quit her day job as governor.

She said she intended to devote her time to speaking out against big government and she didn't think it would be right that the people of Alaska should have to pay "millions of dollars" to cover her travel expenses while she runs around "defending our way of life." Two or three times she used the phrase "people who love America" in reference to anyone who did not vote for the current administration.

Is it just me -- or did her so-called list of accomplishments sound like a pre-emptive defense against whatever corruption charges are coming down the pike?
  • JamesR · 5 months ago
All I remember was some flute music and some flashing colors.

And I will not believe she's really done it until right after the next Governor is sworn in. Also.
  • Ninong · 5 months ago
Yes, I caught that little reference to "frivilous investigations" but was she talking about troopergate or the investigation into whether she and Todd paid for the building supplies "Todd and his buddies" used to build their lakeside manor?

Her list of accomplishments might have been her way of saying that now that she had completed her goal of reforming Alaska's state government, it's time to move on to bigger and better things.

It won't be long now before she shows up as a guest host on The Factor.
  • therepguy · 5 months ago
Agree... impeachment is in the air!

Its time for her to run and hide from the truth!

In her mind, it's all about her... not the country... and that is the number one reason to not vote for her, the other is her republican fascist ways!
  • Jophus · 5 months ago
You called Palin a news hole.... :-D

I hope everyone has a fabulous weekend, even though it is freezing balls in Chicago. For those of us who are gay, I hope we take a little extra time out to consider what we are celebrating today:

The dissent of those who bit the hand that fed in pursuit of freedom and independence. Even though people called it ill-advised, they had the courage to do what was just.

"I'm like, OK, God, if there is an open door for me somewhere, this is what I always pray, I'm like, don't let me miss the open door. Show me where the open door is."

That's what Sarah Palin said back in mid-November when asked if she had any future plans to run for national office. Apparently this is the open door God wanted her to take.
  • JamesR · 5 months ago
Like God is her partner in Let's Make a Deal... "Door #1, door #2, or door # 3. What'd ya think God?"

Wouldn't want to ride in an airplane or submarine with her.
  • Ninong · 5 months ago
Now that Sarah Palin is taking her show on the road again, will Joe the Plumber go on tour with her? He could be the opening act.
  • Allie · 5 months ago
Nah, she'd probably take a bunch of folks that voted O into office who are now stunned to find they've been lied to and betrayed and have buyer's remorse. Heck, there's plenty of them here just on this site to pick from.
  • therepguy · 5 months ago
    Just a through or two...

First off when I heard the news, the thing that came to mind was what was she run from... impeachment!

Next why does the republican party have such a need for ignorant place holders? My standard answer is the one thing that the republican party and the fundamentalism church have in common is a pressing need for dumb-ass followers! And just as in G. W. Bush case she to would end-up being lead down the path of destruction... the far right wants fundamentalism christian church want nothing less that there so called "MOVEMENT" RUNNING THE SHOW AND THAT IS A VERY BAD AND FASCIST PRONE DIRECTION!
  • therepguy · 5 months ago
For starter, She has given Trailer Trash a bad name... and that really hard to do!
  • therepguy · 5 months ago
There's a reason why the term "Mind Numbing Cold" is used in the northern areas of country and she is a great example of same!
  • Indigo · 5 months ago
It's very clever how the Republicans are cleaning house and dumping the kooks early in the Obama administration. By 2010 or 2011, they might have a candidate they consider presentable. Who could it be if not . . . another one of the Bush boys? somehow . . . Jeb comes to mind.
  • CDS2 · 5 months ago
It just blows my mind ! Why does the left hate her so much?
  • mirth · 5 months ago
Odd that you interpret ridicule, the causes of which are well evidenced and documented, as hate. Although it does follow a pattern of conservatives labeling all forms of dissent as "hate," regardless how desperate it makes them appear. Or just plain ol' dumb.

Which begs the question, why does the Right love her?
  • CDS2 · 5 months ago
Well Mirth, I know you mean well, but just read the post above yours. If that and most other posts is not 'hate', well......
  • duchessofbilgewater · 5 months ago
    'Cuz we can????
