Yea all this bull about Mormons being so evil i can never get enough seeing as how it's all bullshit and maybe we should start hijacking airplanes like Muslims do but even though that sounds like a great idea i think all of us Mormons will stay believing in GOD & CHRIST and let you guys follow satan since after all Heavens gonna be nice and quite without you Satanists or Bigots arround.

Since when did a Christian preach so much hatred for his fellow man over something so stupid as Mormons using thier right to freedom of speach and now i assume you want to turn AMERICA into another Middle East where people kill each other over religion LIKE YOU ALL HAD US KILLED WHEN OUR RELIGION WAS FOUNDED! THIS MORMON SAYS BRING THE WAR SOCIALISTS ARE RUNNING THE COUNTRY NOW SO LETS GET IT ON AND FIGHT OVER FAGGOTS RIGHTS AND SO NOW WE ALSO CHANGING THE AMERICAN FLAG COLORS AS WELL TO PINK,WHITE AND PURPLE I GUESSE RIGHT?

  • Indigo · 1 year ago
HIs brother is Lucifer or somebody like that?
  • LowKey · 1 year ago
Correct, Mormon Jesus came to the americas after he was dead (I know I know, how could he go anywhere after he was dead - but thats the story) and killed off millions of Native Americans because they didn't believe in him.

    Right bastard he was.

Of course he did leave more alive that that jewish one who killed off the entire planet save eight.

  • scottinsf · 1 year ago
I'm not kidding here, but I grew up in a VERY mormon small town. In grade school the mormon kids liked to chant "remember mountain meadows, remember mountain meadows" over and over at us heathen kids on the playground and when following us walking home from school.
  • wildrumpus · 1 year ago
That had to be fun to deal with. I am sorry you had to put up with it.
  • scottinsf · 1 year ago
We're all shaped by our experiences. Up until prop 8 I had a very live and let live attitude towards mormons. Obviously I've known they were looney for years, but figured if they didn't infringe on my life I wouldn't infringe on theirs. Oh how things have changed.

If they had said 'Bush' instead of Obama, they would have been put on the "no fly" list and possibly imprisoned in Gitmo.

Anyone know what's going on in Alaska? Haven't heard a thing since late Weds.

Thanks and sorry for being off subject.

If you're talking about the race for the Senate, last I heard was that Begich was slightly over 800 points ahead of Stevens. There are still more votes to be counted next week, but even Steven's own pollster thinks he's lost it.
  • seohio · 1 year ago
I heard on MSNBC this am that Stevens won't win. SOrry, forgot the Dem's name, but one of Stevens' campaign people said that when the newer votes are being added, it's clear there's going to be a deficit for Stevens.

    We can only hope.
  • woodroad34 · 1 year ago
Actually, we can only hope for a deficit of Stevens and Palin...

Repulsive...Of course a kid heard the phrase from a parent.
The more attention this "religion" gets the uglier it appears...I think Mitt's presidential dreams are just that.

It's really disturbing that the bus driver didn't stop this! And where did grade schoolers learn a 4-syllable word?
  • woodroad34 · 1 year ago
And a Catholic Priest in S. Carolina says his parishoners need to do penance for voting in Obama. Where were these holier-than-thous when Bush was elected, lied, stole, ruined, tortured, and killed? Oh, yeah -- morality filtered through hate or through a mirror darkly, which I'm guessing would be their putrid souls.
  • HillbillyTN · 1 year ago
We should be thankful for the children. They let us know what their parents are saying.
  • magster · 1 year ago
While the leadership of the mormon church and many of its congregants deserve ample condemnation for its stances, I'm getting a little uncomfortable with the broad brush Mormon bashing. We don't know if these kids on the bus were mormons.

Harry Reid's a mormon who is nominally on our side. Many Catholics left their church or criticized its positions over gay marriage, child victimization coverups, birth control, etc. Such broad brush condemnation of Mormons will alienate many good people who might want to leave or challenge the mormon hierarchy from within.
  • LowKey · 1 year ago
Rexburg Idaho is the home of BYU Idaho and the town is about 98 percent mormon. About half the population of this already small town are college students. You are right it is possible theat the three non-mormon kids in town were the ones doing this. It's just not very likely.

A friend of mine has kids who live in Southern Utah and he says his elementary school daughter is hearing the "I hope Obama gets assasinated" stuff from her fellow students in the classroom. And the teachers do nothing.

SOme, but certainly not all, think that Obanma is the anti-christ who will usher in the millenium where Jesus will come and take over all the govenments of the world (including the US) and set up a world-wide theocracy in Missouri. The mormon church will help him rule. That's right, the mromons will rule the world soon, at least according to them. It's scary stuff.

Hmm. Aside from the obvious laughter you just caused, I wouldn't really recommend using this one as a defense of the LDS. And if you use Firefox, you can get that handy spell check thing too! Shame about the grammar though.

One famous "ex-Mormon" is Bo Gritz, who operates in Idaho, and was on the ticket with David Duke in his ill-fated run for prez. Mormons, famous for conspiracy theories, have assembled quite a number of militias over the years. You can research all this online. ID itself is full of "white christian" types who love their guns and cling to religion...all the while practicing the most vile forms of bigotry.

And don't forget that Sarah Palin was born in Sand Point, ID, before her parents relocated to AK when she was an infant.

These are hardcore types who will never change, no matter what kind of veneer they coat themselves with.
  • frank14 · 1 year ago
Although certainly not all Mormons share the sentiments expressed perhaps unwittingly by these children, there does seem to be some sort of linkage between the Mormon college and the propagation of these beliefs. Also Palin's Sand Point connection is curious.

John, in your coverage --which has been excellent--of the role of Mormon monies in the Prop 8 operation (as well as their role across the country in similar efforts), there is also another aspect which we need to keep in mind: the possibility that anti-Palin as well as at least some pro-Palin conservatives in the Republican party might consider turning to Romney as their guy. It would seem that someone ought to do detailed research as to what extent Romney's record shows him to be in agreement with the actions taken by the Utah bunch. Naturally, if he is a "good Mormon" he wouldn't dare to disagree. But just how much has he agreed, publicly, in the past is my question.

Here are a couple links discussing the impact of Prop 8 and the Mormons' role on Romney's future:

It is true that children will pick ap chants even when they don't know what they mean, but these children sound old enough to know what "assasinate" means. (When I was a wee one, I once joined neighborhood youngsters in a chant of "we like Ike." My mother had to explain what that menat, and I've never forgiven myself!) So I suppose the parents of these children will be getting a visit from the Secret Service? No?
  • RIPWAMU · 1 year ago
To all the Mormon and Mormon supporters who have been very vocal all week regarding Prop 8: What do you have to say now? Want to still say there isn't fear and hate mongering going on? We all know that not every Mormon feels this way, but these reports are getting more and more prevalent and not just in one area. This is what those good religious people are saying around their impressionable children.

To the school district - these children need to be suspended or expelled. Perhaps a visit to the parents and elders as well as the chidlren from the Secret Service would also be appropriate.

To Mitt Romney - how about a little speech regarding tolerance?
  • RitornaVincitor · 1 year ago
Such nice people indeed. Too bad some of us have been forced to live by their rules, even though we are not Mormons. Let's hope their Prop H8 is tossed out by the court. If not, let's overturn it on the ballot in 2010.
  • skeptic · 1 year ago
Yes, get it back on the agenda for 2010, but this time get the gay's off their asses and participate more.

If more gay boys et al would have put as much effort into the No On Prop 8 campaign as they are doing now to scream and boycott we wouldn't be doing any of this.
  • ranchooso · 1 year ago
Instead of a boycott perhaps every, black, jew and gay should visit these areas, en masse, more frequently. Camping out in the areas is a nice way to do so without spending a lot of money. Or for those who are flush, perhaps a Marriotts with 95% blacks, jews and gays occupancy might give them something they don't want.

What do you expect from people who believe in "new" books of the Bible written by a guy named "Joseph Smith"? Seriously, would you take a check from a stranger named Joe Smith? Peddling his own original books of the Bible? These people even gave themselves a name that rhymes with "moron." OK, it doesn't rhyme exactly, but they're not going to know. They're MOR-mons!

And they also bought property in a salt lake. From a guy who sells bottled water, prob'ly.

That whole area of Idaho I used to call Far Northern Utah when I lived in SLC in the 90s. Now I live in Mesa, AZ, which is Utah South and filled with similar people who use very hateful language about the illegal immigrants who live here.

Whooooa.. and the bus driver didn't pull over and immediately stop the behavior? And the FBI isn't investigating threats on the President - elect? This is a reportable incident, under No Child Left Behind. And the bus driver should be on leave and subject to disciplinary proceedings. This is shocking. And the school sends an "email" to parents in response? This behavior is directly under the control of the bus driver and he or she needs to be held responsible, in a very public way. Students will remember this incident for the rest of their lives (don't you remember disciplinary events on your school bus?) and they need to remember what they learned was the right lesson.
