AMERICAblog: Scientists to Obama: FDA has been corrupted

  • Ginger_FL · 10 months ago
"Managers have ordered, intimidated and coerced FDA experts to modify scientific evaluations, conclusions and recommendations in violation of the laws, rules and regulations, and to accept clinical and technical data that is not scientifically valid."
    --------------------
Not surprising considering the hacks that have been working hard to destroy all government agencies (regulators) for the past 8 years..
How can we get RID of all the dam pharmacutical commercials on the TeeVee???
Honestly, how many times do I need to hear about some man's 4 hour boner or frequent peeing....
    YUCK !!!
It's very clear who runs the government and media programming in this country.
The makers of: Levitra, Flomax, Viagra etc etc etc......

Without those commercials Wolf Blitzer and the whole Situation Room would just go flaccid.

We definitely need some commercials that explain birth control...and list the recommended products. Teenagers, especially might pay attention but the younger kids would have maybe a glimmer of how to protect themselves. There are just so many ways to protect women from pregnancy besides "no".

As a kid, I can remember being embarassed by the bra, kotex, hygiene sprays......

My son says a visitor from outer space looking at those ads would wonder how in hell the human race ever reproduced itself...

Obama is going to have to clear out all the GOP hacks that have been installed the last 8 years. It will be nice to see competency once again considered a thing of value and virtue.

I wonder if we're going to get more and more people who've been silent for the last eight years, finally speak out about how ideological the agencies have become because their job won't be taken away when they do.

Specualtion is there will be many whistleblowers coming out of the closet after January 20... but how their revelations are met will be the test.. Congress knew what was going on as many if not most take succor in the form of re-election $$$ from the corporations... the lobbyists are the new policy writers and the politicians just rubber stamp it... let's see how much that changes...

I'd almost bet those "managers" were Liberty U or Regent U graduates and believe in "creationism."

I expect there will be a lot of real estate up for sale in the DC area soon...

The FDA has morphed from providing protection for the average American to a nudge, nudge--wink, wink rubber stamp for pharma and the medical industries. There are few if any studies that look at the way drugs work together, there is little in the way of education for the average internist in these new drugs, they are informed by the pharma rep who is trained to push the new drugs whether they perform better than the old ones or even actually work at all. We have become a country of drug users.

The average American takes 10.4 different drugs.

    http://www.humana.com/drsam/articles/smart_cons...

We've increased our use of drugs. More people are using medications to prevent, manage, and treat medical conditions. Drugs have dramatically improved the lives of patients with cancer, asthma, stroke, migraines, heart failure, Alzheimer's, diabetes, depression, allergies and more. Sadly, many of these drugs do not fulfill our expectations, and may have adverse side effects and limited effectiveness. We've become too dependent on drugs for daily live - using them for even minor bouts of depression, anxiety, or lack of sleep, and not considering the long-term emotional and physical effects they may cause.

The FDA was changed by Bushco to make their corporate buddies more money and less regulation on their drugs. Obama needs to stop kissing the Republican ass and clean out all the different agencies of the Bush appointed and hired incompetents.

a propos of nothing, except that I saw this article today because of something else:

Clinton and Obama Talk Religion, Not Science

That was back in April when they did that forum.
Hopefully, THAT conversation ended in April!

Much as I didn't care for Hillary during the primaries, I did like her speaking out against what she called 'the war on science'.

Isn't comforting to know that Thalidomide can happen here now?

Speaking of corrupt government science projects, has anyone taken a careful look at NASA lately?

Interesting open letter to Rick Warren by Gay Christian Editor:

Pharma interests have been cultivating a land flowing with the sweet milk and honey of disease.
If the FDA was abolished, we'd be no worse off, probably better off.

The FDA has been a shill for corporate medicine for a long LONG time.
They allow harmful, but PROFITABLE drugs like Celebrex and that whole line, but they ban anything that shows promise if it isn't profitable.

    Cases in point:

The Native American herb, Chaparral, which can be effective against many cancers had been banned by the FDA, their 'reason' (excuse) was that they THOUGHT it could cause Hepatitis. It has since been reinstated when no association between the herb and Hepatitis could be confirmed.

Another was Laetrile, or Vitamin B-17, also showing much promise for cancer.

Let's face it, there's no money in health. They don't WANT a cure for cancer. The "Cut, Burn, Poison" cancer treatment protocol in the U.S. is a HUGE and VERY profitable industry.

Cancer research, my arse! There is no R&D except for that which will make more money, Hippocratic Oath (Do no Harm) be damned!

Sorry to sat, I think Obama will maintain the status quo.
    *Sigh*

Sure he will. The disease industry is too big to fail.

Oversight committees must experience pressure to actually do the work to reign in the evil. Whining to Obama or the FDA will yield nothing. Pharma is a hugely influential industry that cracks the whip on supposed "public servants."

Iatrogenic death (doctor caused death) is probably the number one killer of USA citizens, conservatively the third largest cause of death.
