AMERICAblog: Senate Dems. will vote Tuesday on Lieberman -- and it's by secret ballot

  • Crazy8 · 1 year ago
It will not work unless they get one guy to promiss to vote in favor of the backstabbing prick.
  • Patrick_Bateman · 1 year ago
The Dems need to dump him NOW!
  • Sage24 · 1 year ago
The Dems should hold Liebermann responsible for his traitorous ways.
He attacked Obama, who had the decency to campaign for him, and Traitor Joe did promise NOT to attack Obama when she shamelessly spoke at the Rethuglican convention, and broke his word.

I will be disappointed if the Dems vote to keep this dishonorable snake in his undeserving position. The Dems should show how traitors to the party must be dealt with. If Liebermann in his arrogance thought that everything will be great despite his shameless brown nosing, then he
    should feel sorry.
  • Reason0Politics1 · 1 year ago
lieberman is a pig of the highest order; perfect example of a guy that actively promotes his love of israel ahead of his sworn duties to his own country. and this scumbag is in head of the Homeland security committee? no wonder DHS is the epitome of corruption and unaccountable contracts.. billions fly out the door with NO traceability whatsoever. and joe oversees that. hes a pig, a traitor, and a enemy of the US constitution
  • Patrick_Bateman · 1 year ago
Hey now, comparing pigs to Joe Schmo is not very nice to the ...

    pigs. ;>)
  • Older_Wiser · 1 year ago
And how many "blue" Dems are there left? Perhaps LIEberman will suffer from the "Bradley effect" when all is said and done.

If they keep that scoundrel, no clearer sign could be given that nothing will really change in Washington.
  • Subroutine · 1 year ago
Exactly so. I'm so glad the parole board isn't constituted by these same Dems.....Charles Manson might have said he really loved his fellow man and been freed.
  • Reason0Politics1 · 1 year ago
you are spot on... if reid and obama keep LIEberman in his current roles..the allegations of this election being about what amounts to be 2 sides of the same coin will be validated.
  • dad · 1 year ago
no matter how many people realize that joe has take them for fools and have refused to be fooled again, it appears that joe can always find more foolish fools to be fooled.

    please, don't be stupid

in the meantime, the blame the Democratic homosexual crowd is alive and well:

Dennis Miller is a punk, along with O'Reilly. They deserve each other.
  • triple7s · 1 year ago
What happened to Miller to make him such a shrill, whiney, S.O.B.?
  • cowboyneok · 1 year ago
He has been that way for some time. I don't know what motivates him. Its a mystery whether it is greed or fear of "homahsexshuls." He is a prick of the highest order, though. He probably regrets attaching himself so closely to the Republican Party. Good - he deserves his exile. Let him hang out in the Fox News room, and wait for guest appearances, where he belongs.
  • dad · 1 year ago
    strip him.
  • lynchie · 1 year ago
Joe is a man you cannot trust. He is a liar, plain and simple and to continue to have him as head of Homeland Security when he has investigated not a single thing done under the Bush Administration speaks volumes about his integrity and who he is loyal to.
I know politics is about what is expedient, but, this is about his core beliefs. He does not support the Democrats agenda, he obviously does not support President Obama and most importantly will continue to feed inside information to the Republicans. When he failed to get the Democrat nomination and ran as an Independent he made a choice and as an Independent is free to vote what ever conscience he still possesses but he is not an elected Democrat. The only resemblance to a Democrat is his close resemblance to the last three letters---RAT.
  • triple7s · 1 year ago
He's an opportunist , a self-serving professional politician, with what seems like is more allegiance to Israel than to the U.S. A SLIME BALL.

A prediction: The Wimpocrats will vote to KEEP Lieberman; after all, his views are nearly identical to those of Reid, Clinton, Feinstein, Schumer, et. al. He's in the Wimpocrat Mainstream. And Reid will lead the fight to keep him ... in the meeting on Tuesday. Lieberman is the Christine Jorgensen of the Wimpocratic Party, which is perfectly OK with the Wimpocrats; GO FIGURE.
  • Lolis · 1 year ago
Yeah but at least we don't have a Sarah Palin disaster in our party. No Republican is willing to admit on record that she is unqualified to be John McCain's personal assistant, much less a leader in their party.
  • MyVoice · 1 year ago
I am proud to know that my Senators have put their view on record against Joe. Senators Sanders and Leahy are voting to have Joe lose his chairmanship. How many more will actually put their vote on the record instead of hiding behind a secret vote?
  • dad · 1 year ago
    As well you should be.
  • triple7s · 1 year ago
I would be EXTREMELY proud to have Sen Sanders as my Senator. Leahy's not bad either.
  • pcvirginiabeach · 1 year ago
Bernie is on record.... but I think he is left out of this vote because he is not a Democrat. Correct me if I am wrong?
  • pcvirginiabeach · 1 year ago
Bernie does not get a vote on this.
  • Indigo · 1 year ago
It's a secret but I'm guessing he'll be given five strokes from a silver-headed bamboo cane. then released on good behavior.
  • catdance · 1 year ago
    And he'll enjoy it.
  • tlsintx · 1 year ago
lying sad sack of smarmy shit...

are they just keeping him so they'll have 60? cause he's not worth it.
  • Savage8862 · 1 year ago
He will be rewarded because the Democratic Senators do not want him to become a martyr.
  • ron071 · 1 year ago
IT'S A MATTER OF SIMPLE JUSTICE FOR JOE THE TRAITOR

His chairmanship must be taken away because he is the one who sacrificed it for a place at the McCain " victory" table. There is no rational justification or justice in allowing this man to continue his Democratic charade. For the good of the party (and the country) he must be appropriately dealt with. He can go where he wishes to go as long as the people of Ct. put up with him.
  • Fireblazes(CheetohsandCatfood) · 1 year ago
Good, then everyone will stop bitching. LOL!
  • cowboyneok · 1 year ago
One word should be ENOUGH to get Senators to vote to punish him. One word SHOULD suffice:

    Minnesota
  • BorninUSA · 1 year ago
I am somewhat disappointed that it is a secret ballot. I would like to know who the senators are who will vote to keep Lieberman. If they are from my state forget about my vote next time around. If you saw the video you know what a liar Lieberman is. No ifs, ands, or buts; it is on tape. What more do they need? I never could stand the man and was disgusted when he was on the ticket with Kerry. Still don't know who made that disastrous decision.
  • Mighty · 1 year ago
They are voting by secret ballot for one of 2 reasons. Either they don't want to be held accountable by us their constituents when they support Joe or when they don't support him they won't get as much flak from Joe. I'm thinking the former is more likely the case.
  • aarrgghh · 1 year ago
lieberman needs at least 27 senators to vote for him. he's the least beloved senator in the democratic caucus. so far only bayh and dodd have come out to lobby for him. six others helped him campaign against ned lamont: carper, inouye, landrieu, nelson, pryor and salazar.

he won't be getting the senate leadership: reid, schumer, durbin, leahy. that's bad news. except for bayh, he probably won't be getting more of the 19 current senators that supported lamont. he won't be getting sanders or dorgan. he won't be getting any of the 6 confirmed freshman senators, since by backing mclame, he effectively campaigned against all of them.

joe needs 27 and currently has 8. i count at least 27 against. i think he's gonna lose that chair.
  • catdance · 1 year ago
I don't think Joe will lose the chair.

Joe's a vengeful snake who comes from a family of vengeful snakes who have had no problem disowning their own children and throwing close friends to the wolves. A surprising number of people are scared of Lieberman, and for good reason. The fact that Dodd is supporting him in this, after he screwed Dodd to punish him for his (tepid at best) support of Lamont, is very telling.

Schumer, Bayh, Reid et al will be pressuring everyone they can to stand by Joe.

You know... I don't see the sense of voting in a Democratic majority if they're all going to be practically as crap as the other side of the room. No wonder their numbers are so low.
  • aarrgghh · 1 year ago
if the democratic leadership really wanted joe to keep his chair, they wouldn't have to put it to a vote. joe keeps it by default. this whole discussion would be moot.

the decision to put it to a vote is reid's. by putting it to a vote, reid's telling everyone, "let's kick this douchenozzle out". and only a really tone-deaf leader stages a vote he knows he's gonna lose. a good lawyer never asks a witness a question he doesn't already know the answer to. joe is history.
  • catdance · 1 year ago
Reid could have done it himself.
    Why didn't he?
  • aarrgghh · 1 year ago
you'll have to ask reid, but i suspect reid wanted

    1) to wait for the still open races to finish

    2) to allow everyone's favorite drama queen to go gently into the night and not run crying to the cameras, which is why he initially offered joe a lesser seat on the veterans affairs committee instead of the top seat on homeland security.

well, once a drama queen, always a drama queen. lieberman said "no deal" and forced a full vote. now it's all or nothing for joe, who by the way hasn't shown much talent lately for picking winning hands.
  • Ingmar53 · 1 year ago
I'm enjoying the fantasy of actually hearing Harry Reid say, "Let's kick this douchenozzle out!" It might keep me smiling all day.
  • catdance · 1 year ago
I'm upset that it's a secret vote. I think they're going to let Joe keep his chairmanship and they don't want to be held accountable for it.

I'm in Connecticut and I'm a Democrat. We CT Democrats did not want Joe representing us; we voted him out in a fair primary election. Joe formed his own party, ran, and won.

Joe Lieberman is the Connecticut for Lieberman Senator from Connecticut. He has no place in the Democratic caucus and he has no right holding the Chair of ANY committee, much less an important and powerful one.

Harry Reid has chosen to spit on the wishes of Connecticut Democrats and made us accept the traitorous garbage that is Joe Lieberman in the Democratic caucus.

I'm going to become a proponent of storing the nation's nuclear waste in Nevada.
  • High Crimes & Misdemeanors · 1 year ago
In case you haven't seen this. And BTW, Durbin is voting yes for Joe, WTF????????? I'll be calling his office in morning again!!!

    http://tools.advomatic.com/7/kickjoe

Two years ago, Connecticut Democrats voted for change in Joe's Senate primary against Ned Lamont.

Despite pledges to caucus with our party and refrain from attacking our presidential nominee, Senator Lieberman has threatened to leave our ranks and even joined the Republican Convention to attack Barack Obama in a keynote speech.

He even campaigned against a "filibuster-proof Democratic majority." Make no mistake, when offered a chance to stay in the caucus at the expense of his chairmanship, he countered with more threats in a nationally televised press conference.

The decision is now up to the Democratic Senators on the Steering and Outreach Committee. They need to hear from us to ensure that they relieve Joe Lieberman of his Homeland Security Chairmanship -- and don't give him another Committee chair.

Lieberman has not investigated one meaningful scandal in his role as chairman during the Bush Administration, but we are certain he will be happy to cause problems for an Obama Administration.

It's time for Joe to go.
  • GrMtGirl3 · 1 year ago
I think all of the good senators need to look at this as WHAT IS BEST FOR DEMOCRATIC PARTY AND OUR COUNTRY . . . . this is not a personality contest and or a means of declaring your friendship. Joe chose to not support the Democratic candidate for president and said some pretty rotten things about him. Now it's time for him to pay the consequences. Grow up people!
  • henrythefifth · 1 year ago
More Profiles in Courage from the Senate Dems....not.
  • dula · 1 year ago
Now that Obama has a "mandate" I'm sure it will be much easier to find a moderate Republican to cross the aisle and vote with the Dems...we don't need Liebershmuck.
  • irishdave3 · 1 year ago
Kind of like When Ted Kennedy ran for Senate Majority leader andafter the "secret" ballot thanked all 28 Senators who had "pledged' their votes to him....especially the 15 who actually did. C'mon boys and girls, a Democrat with a spine is a Republican
  • AnitaCocktail · 1 year ago
Joe Lieberman is damned lucky that he is a United States senator and not an ancient Roman one.

Getting kicked to the political curb would be the least of his worries.
  • Ingmar53 · 1 year ago
I think Obama was smart to publicly encourage the retention of Lieberrman. It sends a message that he doesn't hold grudges and plays into his "team of rivals" strategy. HOWEVER, the senators need to kick Lieberman to the curb. Such a documented liar and ineffectual leader should NOT be heading the Homeland Security committee. The fact that he uttered the most slanderous lines of attack against Obama deserves punishment. And the fact that he would back the vacuous Palin to be a "heartbeat away" proves to me that he can't be trusted about anything related to national security.
  • truebluecoondog · 1 year ago
If they DON'T boot his arse out the door, I will be beside myself. This guy is nothing but a big slap in the face. He has no loyalty whatsoever.
