AMERICAblog: Senate GOP Set To Block Troop Funding Bill

  • jr · 1 year ago
"troop funding gets all the favorable coverage"-Fox
  • PeteWa · 1 year ago
typical, the GOP has done nothing but screw the troops for the last eight years.
sixteen to twenty if you count what Cheney did to the troops back in the day (you know, the little things repukes try to "forget").
  • Busboy · 1 year ago
At least there were a few left to "screw" after Bill Clinton got finished defunding the military for 8 years. That selective memory process of yours could easily be diagnosed as Ahlzeimers.
  • lynchie · 1 year ago
Except the Repubs had control of the Congress up until the 2006 election. the controlled everything for the last 12 years. So funding which can and is controlled by votes in Congress are a result of the GOP not caring. Just like Johnny Mack who hasn't voted in the last 400 votes. Yeah you care. the GOP wanted to vote against the education bill for veterans, but all supported the "BRIDGE TO NOWHERE" from Stevens (aka jailbird)
  • nsr · 1 year ago
"defunding the military"? Oh yeah, he only spent more than Reagan.
  • acknight · 1 year ago
You mean after Bush the first cut it dramatically at the behest of then-SecDef Cheney?
  • PeteWa · 1 year ago
Dipshit, what you are talking about is the program instituted by Dick fucking Cheney.
Pushed through by a Repuke controlled Congress and Senate.
Go learn something, you stupid fuck.
  • Busboy · 1 year ago
Oh, sorry to disturb your Obama induced coma. I forgot that you were a child when all this went down...
  • anarchy · 1 year ago
it never ceases to amaze me what an ass you are, Busboy.

aren't you gonna be all boo-hoo-hoo when your beloved Shrub sets off for Paraguay and you end
up as a busboy for reals?
  • Busboy · 1 year ago
Been there, done that, will do it again if I have to...
I'm kind of like GG in that I was taught to live off the land. I'm not looking for a subsidy....
  • bunnyjump · 1 year ago
Go Harry, just don't back down (like always). The Repugs must pay.
  • jcgraham77 · 1 year ago
Obama needs to hold a press conference right now demanding that they support the troops!
  • Busboy · 1 year ago
Obama's going to find himself in deep doo-doo if he keeps this crap up. It's not helping him:

I saw that this am...Obama's comments make perfect sense to me. McCain's insistence that Barack is black is the pink elephant in the room. Obama did what he should have done and let the air out of it.
  • Grimmlok · 1 year ago
My god, did someone grow a brain or sneak a look at the Republican playbook? Finally. Use their tactics against them.

Also, Dems, if you REALLY want this to work, get on the f#cking airwaves and scream in your loudest, big-boy voice that if the Repukes prevent this from passing then THEY'LL HATE THE TROOPS
  • Dave of the Jungle · 1 year ago
Why do Republicans hate American Soldiers?
  • Busboy · 1 year ago
Why can't "you know who" keep her legs closed?
  • Dave of the Jungle · 1 year ago
Because that's how you moved up in the Department of Justice during the Bush era.
  • Busboy · 1 year ago
:--) Actually I was thinking about Nancy and how bad a "cave" this could be....
  • Chris From Maine · 1 year ago
please dont act surprised when Reid caves in once again. I'm not getting my hopes up, I'm sorry.

Oh, and if a miracle happened and Reid grew a set, the media would claim he hates the troops, and kiss John McCain's ass like they always have.

I mean my god.. McCain put out an ad just for the media, and they gave him millions of free airtime.
  • FunMe · 1 year ago
McCain can go on with his sophomoric Britney ads.

Here's where Obama can bring back to the REAL ISSUES: the republicons do not care about our troops.

    Actions speak louder than words.
  • Savage8862 · 1 year ago
Will McCain even show up to vote? Why isn't the MSM not asking McCain why he isn't showing up to the Senate to vote? Obama and Clinton voted while on the campaign trail yet McCain gets a free pass.
  • Sage24 · 1 year ago
How do you like this one? It would have been damned if you did, and damned if you don't.

McCain campaign ready with attack ad, if Obama HAD visited the injured troops in Germany.

    Dirty, stinkin' slime balls.

  • hawkseye · 1 year ago
Sounds to me like McSame is inappropriately using the troops as a weapon to attack Obama. I hope people point this out.
  • nsr · 1 year ago
Games. I believe Mr Reid has some kind of authority to examine why we're spending $400 million per day in Iraq. (crickets)
  • Soundboy_jeff_meanie · 1 year ago
no biggie... mccain will blame the Dems for 'playing politics with our soldiers'.

even though the repugs won't vote on the bill.

any chance of legislation to close the enron loophole being attached to the GI spending bill??

c'mon congress, you KNOW how to fix our gas/oil price problems... DO IT!
  • HereinDC · 1 year ago
April 9th is the last time McCain voted.....

Wonder if he'll break his streak.
  • Ben Dover · 1 year ago
That lying POS filthy neo-con republican has not voted since April???!!!

Why is he allowed to remain in the Senate? If he is not going to bother to show up for votes WHY is he still allowed to receive a paycheck? Medical care? All the perks and bennies of being in the Senate?

Obviously he's not "doing the work of the people."
  • HereinDC · 1 year ago
    .
I'm getting to think more and more that the slow wheels of justice are finally coming together for the Dems......

Some were pissed that "things" weren't happening quicker.....but.....keeping issues like this CLOSER to Election time....is a VERY Smart Move.

    Good Move Harry! :)
  • hawkseye · 1 year ago
Yes, I think everything that goes on or doesn't go on in Congress from now on has to do with timing and potential for providing Republicans with ammo for the election.
  • LeesiD · 1 year ago
I really do hope that Sen. Reid sticks to his guns, and means it this time. He always talks a big talk, but in the end capitulates...as for McCain, his "talk" is just that!
  • Aanya · 1 year ago
This is another bill that both Obama and McCain had better drop everything and get to Washington DC for this vote. This is critical, life and death, the kind of bill, that anyone running for President would want their name on, as having supported it!
  • benb · 1 year ago
With so many Republicans about to lose their jobs, they'll allow drilling anywhere to please their prospective employers.
  • barkleyg · 1 year ago
"as you'll recall, McCain said that nothing could keep him away from supporting our troops" except he has missed every troop vote in 2008!
