MSNBC has a great article on the end of the Clinton's. Do you think if the media starts drumming that it's over for the Clintons she will exit gracefully. Nah.
  • TheOriginalLiz · 1 year ago
Yes, I think it's become clear that Hillary is not going to show even a modicum of good grace or class.

If Hillary would play bad cop to Obama's good cop against McCain thenn her remaining in the race, even without a chance at victory, has more upside than downside for dems. However, ripping Obama and her "assassination" comments bring benefits to no dem. The fact thaqt all cameras are on the dems is a good thing, with certain noted exceptions.

    it's all about the hillary.

frankly, i think she'd be better served if she ran as a republican.

The DNC should just seat the FL and MI delegations in full and allocate the undecideds to Obama. That takes the issue off the table completely. Then next Wednesday the superdelegate floodgates will open and it will all be over. Yes, there should be a penalty for breaking the rules. Keep in mind that the motivation for moving up the primaries was to have influence in the selection of the nominee. That influence has been effectively revoked since FL and MI have been on ice for the duration of the contest and will have been brought back only after their delegations no longer matter. They'll have an official vote at the convention, but practically speaking they'll be just window dressing.

Hillary is like a dike with a hole in it (steady, now). Unless the hole is plugged it will only widen and eventually bring the whole thing down. Hillary made here first concessions to her own personal morality years ago, even before the flap in Arkansas about her name. Gradually, centimeter by centimeter, the hole in her conscience has grown until now it has it's own imperative. she will take this to the convention and beyond; she has no choice anymore; she is too craven. She will convince herself that she cannot in good conscience (an oxymoron in her case) campaign for Obama because of the unchivalrous way he's treated her. The lady must abstain. Don't expect Bill out on any platform for Obama either.

Certainly one of the most self-destructive politicians I've ever seen. Like you, I don't think Hill and Bill will back up Obama.

I'm with Rachel Maddow on this: make that a 100% guarantee (not a mere "chance") that she will take it to the appeals process and drag it out to stall for more time--after all Bobby Kennedy was...

i agree with the previous comments about lack of class, and a self-fixation that has guided her campaign.

    however, this flood of delegates?
how many times has Americablog predicted that in the past 6 weeks?

I agree with Chuck Todd who said on Morning Joe that these "undecided" super delegates know who they are for but are afraid to say because they don't want to be on a "losing team." Believe Todd called it the "weasel factor." The SDs are trying to weasel out of declaring who they are supporting. If the DNC continues with this ill-advised super delegate way of voting they need to maybe set a deadline for naming who the SD supports. This is getting ridiculous. It could have all been over some time ago if these "weasels" would have declared their candidate. Either drop the super delegates or set some guidelines.

    NOW !!!

Don't give her another excuse to ruin the party.

    VOTE NOW !!
  • Indigo · 1 year ago
The party will not be ruined by a floor fight, it will be purified. Think of the wonderful future history books that tell the story about how Hillary and Bill ruined their own fading reputations by pushing the Democratic party so far that the Democrats finally pushed back. What a legacy!
(Nasty me? Yeah, well, I get that way ;=)

If Obama just accepts the FL and MI delegations as is he will defuse any potential appeal by Clinton. Of course, he should not do this unilaterally. He should go to Clinton and tell her that he will allow these delegates to count if she will drop out of the race. Her whole Kamikaze mission has been in the name of these delegates so she would really be forced to accept the offer, especially since there is no way she can get enough delegates to win. If she declines the offer, Obama's proxies can make the argument that this is not about the delegates at all, but all about Hillary's ego.

Basically what I'm saying is that Obama should offer Hillary one last chance to leave the race with dignity. That could go a long way to healing the damage that she has done before the convention.

My offer to her would be something like this. You drop out now and you get:
    MI and FL delegations seated
$5-10 million from Obama to pay off your debt
A primo timeslot to give a speech at the convention

All I can say is that I am a Democratic voter in Michigan and I actually supported Edwards during the run up to Michigan's primary. Since his, Obama's and others names were NOT on a ballot for me to pick, I, along with thousands of other Democrats, did not go to the "beauty show" and vote. I certainly don't think that it would be fair to consider the Michigan delegates to be Clinton's just because she was the only name on the ballot!. And I do believe there should be some punishment given out to the State parties or what will happen next time?!!? I can just picture primaries moving up to December, November - hell, let's have the first primary in December of this year! Why wait?
I completely agree with a blog entry from a couple weeks ago that talked about how many people that USED to respect Hillary now loathe and despise her. Count me among that crowd. And, as a hard working white person, I DO admire Obama for his eloquence and the early signs of his statesmanship. Can you imagine what Hillary's camp would have done if he suggested that she be killed?

vote now god damnit. our senate candidates from the Udalls to Kleeb need the money Hillary is sucking up despite losing the majority of pledged delegates
  • bowseat93 · 1 year ago
What makes you think that Hillary will bow out even if the superdelegates make up their minds now? Assuming that Obama is the presumptive nominee with the required number of delegates, it will not be ratified until Denver.

Hillary is all in. She's bet too much to stop until it really, truly is over over.

If the super delegates are afraid to say who they're for, why have they been declaring 4-1 for Obama since the beginning of May?
  • mcd410x · 1 year ago
Come next January, Hillary is going to be standing across the street from 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. holding up signs for her ongoing campaign. Perhaps even into the spring ...
