  • Õ¿Õ · 1 year ago
There's alot of uncertainty out there right now and concern if McShrub gets in there so people are unsure. I feels like limbo.
  • Õ¿Õ · 1 year ago
It's strange how fucked up the gop has made this country and how tenacious they are to hang on. It scary that the American public might just vote more of it back in there on us.
  • Õ¿Õ · 1 year ago
lol What I'm going to try to do is prepare like I have been for the last couple of years and give you all some tips about it even though you want take them while it's in limbo. Anyway, gotta scoot. Later all.

I don't see why high oil prices should necessarily result in record profits for the oil industry. Their cost of production is supposed to be higher, because the price of crude is way up. What's really going on is that the small number of producers is gouging the shit out of the consumer, and there is no hope that the Bush administration will do anything about it.

    Two crooked oil barons.
Big oil companies, making disgustingly major profits, breaking all records.

Poor saps at the gas pumps paying sky high prices, for reasons no one can,
    and will, explain.

The oil barons, and GOP congress people, pushing with all their might, for
off shore drilling. They have successfully duped the American people, by giving them the impression, that drilling now might ease the energy crisis.

Something stinks here. High Gas prices = Oil companies making zillions = Off shore drilling, and finally ANR.

    Oil Barons = Mission Accomplished.

Think of how much more they'll make if Bush & Cheney get their way and we attack Iran.

Any self respecting civilization would have nationalized Exxon long ago. They've got us out on the street turning tricks to get the stuff that moves us... too submissive to do the right thing.

A windfall profits tax on BigOil should begin at 75% and used to pay for the Bush Wars of Aggression and Occupation.

#3? - BP, the third largest, said Tuesday that its net profit leapt 28 percent to 9.47 billion dollars in the second quarter.

#2? - Royal Dutch Shell is the world's second biggest energy company in terms of stock market capitalisation behind number one....

    Drumroll, please...

#1! - Exxon has record profit again on soaring oil prices

"Exxon Mobil Corp said on Thursday soaring oil prices pushed its second-quarter earnings up 14 percent, again breaking its own record for the highest-ever profit by a U.S. company. Exxon -- the world's largest publicly traded company -- previously set the high-water mark for quarterly earnings in the fourth quarter of last year, when it brought in $11.66 billion. Despite the new record, Exxon's results lagged behind analyst expectations."

No sh*t! These “analysts,” are cursing because their portfolios are 'lagging' behind their own misguided expectations. My heart breaks for them.

Don't get surprised when one day clever CEOs plunder EXXON and find a way for the taxpayers to pay for the bail out. Lawyers and (Chinese) bankers will be there to feast on the carrion.
  • donotmakemecomedownthere · 1 year ago
That's exactly where their profit margin goes; to lobbyhorse lawyers who promise an escape route and will hack at any loophole to get there..
  • MNUSA · 1 year ago
So true. The CEO received $16 million to $27 million last year (depending on how you calculate it). With gas as high as it is, I'm guessing he gets more than a cost of living raise this year.

    Tee hee.

I am pretty sure it was John A. who did a post in '84 on which oil companies were best and worst to patronize. He had the figures.
  • LisaLV711 · 1 year ago
Why do the oil companies say they need more offshore drilling to get oil when there are 68 million acres and 11 million acres in Alaska, not Amwar, already set aside for such a task? Can some ask John McCain that? It seems to have gotten lost in the conversation.
  • hawkseye · 1 year ago
I have a hazy recollection that it's because the current leases restrict the oil companies to selling all the oil they get out of them to American sales.
There was a big fight over this and Democrats prevailed when the legislation passed.

Thanks for answering my question. Now it all makes since to me.

Oil Companies are Gouging the American People July 31st, 2008
Well, the oil companies are making double digits or high single digit billions each quarters. Them making high profits are not the problem, they say. Certainly, we wouldn’t have a problem either if we were making just a small fraction of those profits. Look. There is no doubt that they are gouging the American People. This is why the oil companies need to be regulated. They know dam well that if they refrain from drilling, and if they buy a lot of their own stocks back, their profits would climb out of sight. Oil companies are probably doing more to hurt our economy then foreign oil companies are. So we must Regulate! Regulate! Regulate! . Even the Federal Reserves Regulate when they need to control inflation and other issues. But for some erroneous reason many politicians including Bush do not believe in regulating. The markets will correct themselves we constantly hear. In a perfect world, that is probably true. But we all know that every single one of us is not perfect. Most of us have a problem with greed. The more we make the more we want until it becomes a disease, then power steps in and left’s it to a much higher level. All these bubbles that broke over the years could have been avoided if politicians believed in regulating and had the political will to fix them. Our country is going amidst if our actions are always based on the results of the stock market value, bottom line mentally. Why not base values, on the quality of our products, and goods? Many products we buy nowadays, are nothing but junk. That’s probably what our free trade policies need, is regulation, strong negotiation, and strong diplomacy. We certainly have highly gifted and qualified people to do this, if only we would use them. These gifted persons would probably be glad to do that for our Country. Small or Big government is not the question. But what we really need, is outstanding management.
