AMERICAblog: Since folks have been asking... here is how Hillary calculates having "won" the popular vote

  • Indigo · 1 year ago
Every vote in America, you say? That's wonderful. That poor Clinton woman, she needs a hug.

Hillary's terror of missing out suggests to me she is worried about something bigger than simply not getting to be President. Are they fearful of what an Obama Presidency may look in to?

the formaldehyde in Hillary's pants suits has caused severe math Dyslexia

Sheesh, I've never been so disgusted in my life with all this. I was the first to be flamed on the internets by her crazed supporters here before Iowa. My container gahdening is progressing nicely, if I do say so myself.

She's sad. I can picture her showing up to the White House with a U-haul in January.
  • jamesdgm · 1 year ago
this really should be a caveat whenever anyone makes this claim on the broadcast media, lest the Clinton obfuscations be allowed to spread further...
  • scytherius · 1 year ago
Ya know, I think Hillary would be an excellent President . . . but this "I won the popular voe" BS . . . c'mon, we're not the Right Wing, we can actually count over here.
  • blackwolf · 1 year ago
It's a toss up as to the kind of President Hillary would make. No doubt, she would run her presidency like she's run her campaign. I don't think any of us would really want that.
  • Steve_in_CNJ · 1 year ago
the only folks buying this campaign spin from HRC are those in the media -- it's obviously not influencing the delegates.

but just for fun, there is a diary at DailyKos that tries to assign equivalent popular vote numbers to the caucus states:

    http://www.dailykos.com/storyonly/2008/6/1/1674...

it pretty much ends up in a tie.
  • Rab · 1 year ago
I'm from Minnesota and most of the caucuses were overwhelmingly Obama. Senator Klobuchar (female) endorsed Obama based on the will of the Dem choice.
  • blackwolf · 1 year ago
Fascinating stuff! I'm shocked that the news and even Obama supporters on TV don't correct the mistake at every opportunity.
  • Grimmlok · 1 year ago
Totally off topic, and i hesitate to repaste something from a republitard, but is there any truth to this Michelle Obama church quote going around?

"“Once again, the white man keeps us down, what’s up with Whitey, Why’d he attack Iraq, Why’d he let Katrina happen, Why’d he leave millions of children behind. This is the legacy the white man gives us.”""

    that'd really suck

nice, thanks. I assume snopes might have something like that too..

Yeah, this came from Larry Johnson's turd of a blog. They are now caliming that their traffic is soaring. Well, hate sells, what can I say. I hope that most of the traffic is from people coming to laugh...... I hope.
  • lynchie · 1 year ago
This idea of a tape apparently started with Larry Johnson.

    http://garlinggauge.com/2008/05/19/gop-rumor-mi...

the people referencing the tape of course provide no links. If this was true it would be on every tv everywhere.

Clinton will concede by the end of the week. She will then retreart to the Catskills with Harriet Christian and a fewq other loyal sane suporters to reformulate the future of America for 2012.

Here's my question for ALL Dems. If BHO wins the primary, will you vote for him in the GE? If for some reason, HRC wins the primary by getting supers to overturn the delegates, succesfully appealing the FL or MI decisions, etc., will you vote for her.

At my angry moments, I say I'd never vote for HRC. But I realize that so much is at stake in this election that I would hold my nose and vote for her. I have to take my feeling about her out of this and do what's best for me and the country. I just hope the Clinton fans would do the same.
  • Rab · 1 year ago
I won't hold my nose because she is beaten and the primary is over, Obama is the nominee for the Democrats....End of discussion.

    evita's swansong?
  • Chris From Maine · 1 year ago
good to see that Maine once again doesnt count. Thanks Hillary.

and we dont use popular vote, we use delegates. The popular vote doesnt mean squat.
  • Steve_in_CNJ · 1 year ago
Chris, why do you suppose your comment earned a troll rating? (I corrected it for you -- you're welcome). Regular readers can put a stop to this practice by hitting thumbs-up on reasonable comments that have been troll rated but not replied to. Drive-by comment snipers will eventually learn that they have to engage in the conversation.

I caught something on CNN yesterday where they were showing three different calculations. Hillary won two of them, but the one that included caucuses went to Obama, albeit by only 200,000 votes. Chilling that it's so close. I'd like to think that many of those people would change their votes after the way Hillary's been acting lately.
  • katiec · 1 year ago
Distortion, lies, insincerity, politician as usual, egomaniac, failing in math, trying to change rules, laws, promising the impossible!!
No, she does not deserve a hug. The Clintons did this to theirselves with
the tactics they used in running their campaign.
I sent several e mails to Obama telling him to point out her lies, her shortfalls etc. He did not. He remained gracious and gentlemanly.
    He is a leader!!

Hey. how do you caucas states feel about Hillary saying your
    votes don't count??
  • KansasModerate · 1 year ago
Take a look at your own side.

For weeks, this blog and other leftist blogs, much of the pro-Obama media and many of Obama's supporters -- but not Senator Obama himself -- have been saying that Democrats in West Virginia, Oregon, Kentucky, Puerto Rico, Montana and South Dakota shouldn't even vote.

And here in Kansas, Hillary never said my vote doesn't count. It was the state Democratic Party, which we now know is dominated by Obama forces, that set up the caucuses so that it ended up being impossible for me and others in the area wher we live to even attend the closest caucus. Only a small portion of the state's Democrats participated in the caucuses, which were overwhelming won by Obama, while the vast majority of the state's Democrats were in effect disenfranchised.
  • funknjunk · 1 year ago
Please go back to No Quarter. Obama "forces"? Obama forces? Please, please grow up. I'll ask you straight out, will you vote for Obama if he is the nominee.? I would vote for Hilary, even though all I see from her supporters is hate and a childish mind-set prone to temper tantrums. All I see is projection onto everyone else. But I'd still vote for, you know.... HER. Because I' not blinkered by my opinions about her supporters. And I'm not blinkered by the bile being spewed, fact-free, about her.
  • John Aravosis · 1 year ago
Oops, how many times do I have to tell you trolls to stop using codewords that only far-right trolls use. Geez, you people are so obvious sometimes.
  • KansasModerate · 1 year ago
Obama received no popular votes in Michigan; his name was not even on the ballot and under Michigan law any write-ins he might have received could not be counted.

I have mixed feelings about the caucuses. Many of them did not keep (or officially report) accurate vote totals for the various candidates. So while we know how many delegates each candidate won in the caucus states, the number of votes cast is iffy at best ans probably shouldn't count in any unofficial running total of the national Democratic vote.
  • John Aravosis · 1 year ago
And that is why we don't count popular vote in primaries because you can't add it up. Otherwise, 15 states never get counted. And once upon a time (last Saturday actually) I heard that this was a problem, not counting states.
  • zavlin · 1 year ago
Um ok, so someone enlighten me, whats the logic behind not counting those 15 states? Wheres the source for this?
