    How nice,
Isn’t Tunisia has one of the worst human rights record in that part of the world?

“Civil liberties are severely restricted in Tunisia. Human rights defenders and political opponents are regularly arrested, subjected to unfair trials and imprisoned. Over 2,000 political prisoners fill the Tunisian prisons, where they are subjected to misstreatment and torture. Freedom of expression is greatly curtailed and the authorities censor stories and newspapers they don't like.”

of course you talk about human right only when it suits you............
Well enjoy it sir we have lost hope in the west long ago

Well, if one never visited countries that have human rights problems, one wouldn't visit anywhere outside of Scandinavia.

    Just a through or two...

I've always felt that G W Bush had his own agenda which included the following goals:

1 Cleaning up hid daddy mess in the middle east or at least in his mind it was a mess looking to be cleaned up

2 Making deals and handing out tax breaks to his so called friends in big business

3 Demoralizing the bureaucracy to the point that it was useless as a regulator

4 Mess up the over all economy by any means possible including devaluing the dollar and force up prices

In this he has done and done well!

But I'm starting to think that he has another goal, that being to destory the republican party because his dad was not re-electing to a second term

But why you ask... who knows maybe because he's a child of wealth who out of control or maybe because he a christian fascist... I for one haven;t a clue other than the fact that he a proven ASSHOLE!

And I'll bet those "lovely carpets" are made in sweatshops which have no compunction in using child labor...even slave labor.

I'm not the least bit romantic about backwards practices in developing countries, either.

Romanticizing Islam and its treatment of women and children is for idiots and unforgivable, frankly,
For some educated snob to completely absolve such behavior only betrays their elitism.

I'm sure there were some pretty things going on in Nazi Germany too but I wouldn't write a travelogue for the bastards.

"“What’s reckless is continuing the Bush-McCain foreign policy that has cost us thousands of lives and a trillion dollars in Iraq, strengthened Iran, enabled Hamas to take Gaza, took our eye off al Qaeda, failed to capture Osama bin Laden, failed to finish the job in Afghanistan, and left us less safe and less respected in the world. No amount of utterly predictable fear-mongering and tough talk can change the fact that John McCain is running to continue the most disastrous foreign policy in recent American history,” said Obama campaign spokesman Bill Burton."

    Doesn't this sound so Bush-like?

We've regressed so far in this country we act and sound like a backwater state...

    Chris,
I so love your travel photos...they take us away from all the serious problems we're dealing with.

Or as Andrew Sullivan calls them:
    A Mental Health Break!
