AMERICAblog: So is this what McCain means by putting country first?

Sarah's lived in Idaho and Alaska.
She probably hasn't even met a Jewish person yet.

There's no such think as lesbians and gays. That's an urban myth, ask any neo-primitive fundie.

Your phrasing is slightly off profile. She would more likely say "a person of the Jewish persuasion." Or, in a politically correct gesture, she might say "a Hebrew." That's flyover country talk and she's got it. We're going to hear phrases out of her mouth that will have Harvard lexicographers writing monographs about obsolete expressions rescued from obscurity. This will be fun.

McCain has shown he can and will make decisions and promises based on which way the wind is blowing in his party. He is no maverick; he has become a 'yes, sir' and has sold his soul for a shot at the Whitehouse.

Top Alaska papers think Palin is a joke as a VP choice.
A reporter for the Anchorage daily, Gregg Erickson, even did an online chat with the Washington Post, in which he revealed that Palin's approval rating in the state was not the much-touted 80%, but 65% and sinking -- and that among journalists who followed her it might be in the "teens." He added: "I have a hard time seeing how her qualifications stack up against the duties and responsibilities of being president.... ."
You know, the more I think about this selection and the more I wrap my head around it, the more uneasy I feel. I mean, it's not bad enough that McCain showed a stunning lack of judgment by selecting her. But it is also that she actually ACCEPTED the invitation. I don't care how much smoke someone blows up my ass, they will never get me to walk in to a situation in which I know fully that I am neither qualified nor prepared. So she thinks she is qualified.
Honestly, how on earth can she think she is qualified for this? Just pondering that, and wondering what she must be thinking, sends chills down my spine.

Great observation there...I told my partner yesterday, anyone with even an ounce of sense has to know that if you get picked for any sort of elected office, they are going to turn your life inside out looking at you and your family and your qualifications. She obviously knows everything that might come out, yet she said 'yeah, sure I'll run for Vice President".
My guess is she just believes that she is qualified (you know, like, it's really really cool) and like you said, that's scary all by itself...an insight like that is all I need to know. I can smell crazazy a mile away and this one stinks to hiiiigh heaven.

Wouldn't it be something if ALL American politicians would acknowledge the omnipotent Zionist pro-Israel lobby, instead of slavishly bowing to it ..

I know that you people may just consider me an uneducated redneck from flyover country. But, here's what happened when McWeasel picked Sarah: All the women cried. All the men were ready to write contribution checks. I've never given a dime to McCain; but, Sarah's the real thing. You take away her abortion stance and she stands for almost everything that people on this blog hold dear. Don't know about the "civil Union" thingy. But, she''ll be asked. And, so will Obama. Now we have a horserace. Biden needs to get a steel jock cup.

Let me be the first to say it, "go to bed, busboy, god dammit, go to bed!"
Stands for everything people on this blog holds dear? Jesus busboy, do you not ever read a thing people write here? Palin stands for everything we stand AGAINST! Period. Abortion, civil liberties, environment are just a few of the things we know about so far. I doubt anyone (except maybe you) here is a lifelong member of the NRA or would EVER approve of aerial slaughter.

Just ignore him.
He saw Palin and he got sexually excited for the first time in 30 years.
He'll get over it.

I myself am not such a huge fan of AIPAC and their influence on the neocons. I don't think that makes me antisemitic.
Pat Buchanan has made sense at least a few times lately--he LOVED Obama's speech and he disapproves of the Bush Admin/McCain handling of the Georgia/Russia situation.
TampaZeke

My thoughts exactly.
I'm a dyed in the wool liberal Democrat who doesn't have an anti-Semitic bone in his body. I usually think just about every word that comes out of Buchanan's mouth is crap but I wholeheartedly agreed with his statement on the Israeli and foreign lobby (and the neocons that push them) working against our national interests.

Creation is testimonial; evolution is theoretical. They could be sympatico. I'm not a member of the NRA. I approve of aerial slaughter when predators get out of control and start killing livestock and endangered species. Does anyone disagree with these principles?

Obviously, Palin wasn't vetted well at all.
According to what I've read, they sent a couple lawyers up there on short notice, and their whole job was just to look at the "Trooper Gate" thing and nothing else.
She could be part of the Aryan Nation for all we know. It's not unheard of in Idaho, where she spent a good part of her life.

As one McCain aide put it: "We either get Hillary's voters and we win, or we don't. It's not a mystery.
Bush_Bites

Kind of funny, tho.
The Palins and McCains were going through Pennsylvania, trying to pick up Hillary's people.
But whenever Palin would mention Hillary's name, the Fundies she's attracting to the events would boo like crazy.
I don't think she'll be able to pick up both.

McCain's taking Todd Palin under his wing, teaching him how to "pimp out" the old lady.
So is this what McCain means by putting country first?

I used to hate Buchanon. I think he has problems with race, etc. But his writing by and large when regarding foreign policy seems a lot more reasonable than the current thugs in the WH.
To be honest, the quote you quoted is in my opinion correct. Think of it, if we actually DID as the founding fathers meant we ought to which is be fair in our dealings with other countries, but not "loyal" to our own detriment. Be close, but not to the point of jeapordy of our own country. VIRTUALLY all wars after WWII were for bullshit reasoning. Vietnam was manufactured, on a "domino theory" that we know was based on total crap. Korea, same thing (and that war never ended!) Th first gulf war was manufactured when April Glaspie told the Iraqis "we have no say in your border disputes" regarding Kuwait (was a green light to Saddam, who was suckered into it), as well as the PR firm that arranged a woman to talk about babies taken out of incubators, totally manufactured, and she hadn't even been in Kuwait for years ! It was all lies. But hey...we won, and that was the start of 911 as well.
Second (current) gulf war, we all know was bullshit.
Seems even to be that the Georgia problems were similar to Gulf war I, where we told Georgia, "yeah baby, GO for it, we got your back!".
I am no Buchananite, but when it is about wars, he cuts through the bullshit and points out how they never are for the reasons stated, and have more to do with politics than morals.

Pat Buchanan is much better on foreign policy than Obama or Biden, and the quote above is one of his most sensible statements. In fact I don't find any of the statements about Israel quoted on the ADL page especially objectionable. On foreign policy, I'll take Republicans like Buchanan, Andrew Bacevich, Ron Paul, and Chuck Hagel (to mention just a few) over Democratic imperialist mass murderers like Biden (and wannabe Obama) any day.
Incidentally, is there a reason why this post was filed under "anti-semitism"? Why is the suggestion that American foreign policy be decoupled from that of a foreign nation whose interests do not always overlap with and indeed sometimes conflict with those of the USA considered to be a slur against Jews?
