I think what's driving political commentators crazy on both sides is that you can bring up facts as John has; people will absorb them; and, it makes no difference in the polls. I think the reason is that there are only two peaches left in the basket and we're trying to choose the least rotten one.

OT: Catholic Diocese in Cincinnati has new rules for its priests.
CINCINNATI - The Archdiocese of Cincinnati has issued a detailed list of inappropriate behaviors for priests, saying they should not kiss, tickle or wrestle children. ADVERTISEMENT
The newest version of the archdiocese's Decree on Child Protection also prohibits bear hugs, lap-sitting and piggyback rides.
I guess they forgot the thing that got the Catholic church in such hot water---the old biblical reach around.

Friend I don't know who you are talking to but I asked my husband who was in the military for 21 yrs and he said while he was in they had some chaplains that were sent their walking papers because they cheated on their wives. In a way its like being a gay soldier = don't ask - don't tell. My hubands thought that was dumb. He said as long as a soldier did his job it didn't matter who they played with off the clock.

John -- just to be clear -- calling a violation of the UCMJ (Uniform Code of Military justice) a "rules" violation as you do makes it sound as if McCain made an illegal jump in Chinese Checkers.
The UCMJ is the LAW and violations of it, specifically adultery and conduct unbecoming an officer, carry the same weight as a felony.

cscott gets it right. Both adultery and bigamy are violations of the UCMJ -- a little research would find military members who went to prison (Fort Leavenworth) for these crimes.

It's even worse, violating 'Don't Ask, Don't Tell" by disclosing your gay orientation is NOT a crime under the UCMJ. At most, only engaging in sexual intercourse would be, and that depends on how Lawrence v. Texas applies to the UCMJ. The point is that adultery and bigamy are military CRIMES, much worse than coming out as gay, which is only a violation of personnel rules.
