AMERICAblog: So when is McCain's buddy Hagee apologizing for his anti-Semitic, racist, homophobic and anti-women comments?

  • Robkillian · 1 year ago
Or, how about Romney's leaders and religious confidantes that claim all Catholics are going to hell? That America is doomed or damned? Where is the outrage over the calls to repentance by many of the right wing 'religious leaders' that populate this culture?

Rev. John Hagee on Hurricane Katrina: "All hurricanes are acts of God because God controls the heavens. I believe that New Orleans had a level of sin that was offensive to God and they were recipients of the judgment of God for that." [NPR Fresh Air, 9/18/06]
    ---

funny how God sees fit to punish New Orleans for an event that hadn't happened yet that year (Southern Decadence)... and yet, P-town is doing well (T-dance at the Boatslip at 4 every day in the summer, don't forget something skimpy... and SPF 30)... San Francisco is still standing (even with Dorry Alley fair, gay Pride AND Folsom St. fair)... Amsterdam isn't burning to the ground (kinda flaming but, in a good way)... Massachusetts isn't undergoing a plague of locusts, that I know of anyway (gay marriage anyone?)...

speaking of which, why hasn't God attacked the countries that are giving LGBTs marriage?

funny how these psuedo 'voices of God' only point their fingers and say 'you caused this' AFTER the fact, isn't it?

what an asshole... he needs to be the albatross tied around mcsame's neck.

I can't wait for the general election.

Mr. Hagee, have another chicken wing or doughnut. I seem to recall something sinful about Gluttony in your Bible.

Where is there a real apology or explanation from Hagee explaining his anti-catholic statements. His apology was a combination of "I really am sorry my remarks offended" and "My Catholic friends had to teach me about religion." Is really suggesting that he had no basic education concerning comparative religion or is he saying that his faith sponsors seminaries which are really more like madrassas in which potential ministers are schooled in prejudice and hatred towards other religions.

Rev Wright could actually articulate a logical basis for the statements that he made (with the exception of the AIDS argument.) He may have gone over the top. He may have reflected anger left over from a past in which he and his generation did encounter more racism and prejudice than we see today. However, it would be hard to attribute his positions to the kind of religious prejudice to other faiths as demonstrated by Hagee.

The press will accept his rather unconvincing semi apology. It will be considered old news by the time the Democrats finish screwing around with their nomination proceedings. None of the other questions will be asked since he had already apologized.

Hagee will soldier on to work for McCain with his lying and deceit. Too bad Rev. Wright would not have just played along with the game to help Obama. But then, Rev. Wright seems to have some integrity. Hagee is just the lying filth who will change his position to help the radical right.

the seven deadly sins and the ten commandments aren't part of his TV scripted speech.

and there's another thing... the seven deadly sins and the ten commandments?

show me where homosexuality is in either list.

I mean, fallwell was a fat fuck (gluttony anyone?)... all of them are power driven (lust? pride?)...

where does a partnered gay guy wind up on either list?

and yet, we're out to destroy marriage and the traditional family somehow.

I really wish a historian would show them that homosexual relationships have been around a LOT longer than what they refer to as "traditional marriage" (you know, mom/dad/2.1 kids?).

Conservatives are raising hell about McCrazy's pandering on global warming, too.

Tweety brought up Hagee just now, but only about Catholics (he's one). And the conservatives are saying Hagee "apologized" for calling the church the "great Whore." Gee golly whiz...if I "apologize" for being an atheist, will I still go to "heaven." : )

    yeah, I saw that...

funny, its a red state... and mccain isn't the winner... but that doesn't hurt his chances in the national election somehow.

scare tactics... blahblahblah... 9/11!!! bla blahblah... terrorists!! duct-tape, plastic sheeting and bottled water!!!!!.... blah blah...

egad. busboy, you really are pathetic ya know?

    O&W...

interesting... "gee, I'm sorry I called your religious institution a whore"

doesn't really sound like something you can apologize for, does it?

I'm trying to picture mccain talking to the president of Iran as the leader of our country and saying "gee, I'm sorry about that whole 'bomb, bomb, bomb Iran' thing... just joking!"

busboy... from the comments you make on this blog... and the fact that you're ALWAYS here... I'd guess it isn't a high tolerance for pain, its a NEED for it.

you're into heavy S&M with a little B&D thrown in for some spice, aren't you?

jeff, indeed...would be interesting to find out what Hagee calls Islam, too. As for McCain, he wasn't intelligent before Vietnam, either, and has learned little since.

That fat fuck Hagee lives lavishly off the ignorance and money of those who have little. And I'll bet he wouldn't buy a meal for a starving child out of his own well-padded wallet.

Perhaps the adulterous and divorced Hagee (ran off with the church secretary 30 years ago) needs to have a talk with Rod Parsley, another idiot embraced by McCrazy:

He does his apologies like he eats. Ala Carte, not buffet-style. He will apologize one offended group at a time.

And don't forget the people of New Orleans. And the sin of GLUTTONY. And ADULTERY. He and McCain have that in common.

Another wonderful example of GOP family values.
  • KarenMrsLloydRichards · 1 year ago
To reiterate as loudly as possible: Hagee did NOT apologize for his anti-Catholic hate speech; he said he was sorry that anyone took offense. It is a non-apology which blames the victim.
  • blogmob · 1 year ago
it is what passes for an apology these days, and will be taken as such. it shows how the right wing is willing to act in order to get their guy elected. the left is still too divided and disorganized. the hillary-bashing here will not help our situation. obama's inexperience on the national stage (though i far prefer him to hillary) as exemplified by his waffling on the american flag pin, will also hurt. i do not have a great feeling about this. i think we really need to make a huge issue about the supreme court, actually, and the "unitary executive" problem.

    Dear Pastor Hagee,
Good job on GOPer Rules 101.
You don't go publicly hating on such a large group of mostly white voters. Just keep that part about the Catholic Church being the Great Whore quiet, especially until after the elections.

Restrict yourself to hating muslims, gays, blacks and women and you can say just about any horrible thing you want. No phony-ass apologies necessary.

Hagee took one for the gipper. As opposed to Jeremiah W. who kicked his "gipper" in the nuts. If the evangelicals and the protestants and the Catholics get together? Then Obama has his work cut out for him. Obama's church is so out of touch with traditional black churches in the USA that it's almost laughable. McCains stance on GLBT issues may turn out to be more accomodating than Obama's if Obama wins the general. The first clue will be dropped if Jeremiah W. is at the swearing in ceremony.

Holy crap! Is Obama trying out for the role of Slim in the old Jim Croce song? Anybody got a U-tube?
