AMERICAblog: Some of Pat Boone's best dead friends are gay!

  • larry · 11 months ago
Pat Boone has not been relevant to the American culture since the late 60s...why are you trying to make him someone of note now? Who cares what Boone blathered about on Prop 8 and Mumbai? When was the last time you had 50,000, 5,000, 500, 50, 5 people together and his name came up? Come on....Boones comments and comparisons are irrelevant and they only become something different when we repeat them, over and over again and write about them. Personally I would rather understand why the campaign was so badly managed for the gay community? I would like to understand how it is that the LDS can send massive amounts of cash and push Mormons to do s without the IRS asking questions..... does Hatch have that much power and where the hell is Boxer and Feinstein? And Arwnie....Pat Boones opinions or pontifications are simply not worth blah blah about.

Okay, throwing my shoe now! And it's gonna hurt when it lands because it's a super-stiletto. Man, this is just horrendous. Really, talk about tyranny of the majority! I want the system they have in France: Church & State have mostly successfully been separated so ALL marriages are civil unions. If you're religious then you go have your wedding in a church-- but the marriage is not legal until the civil union part. I think that's a real solution. I also see some poetry in the fact that so many people who voted for removing legal & human/civil rights from their fellow citizens have also stated emphatically that they support civil unions. So, let's get behind civil unions for EVERYBODY! I realize that many people who are gay are also religious, but the point here right now as far as I see it is legal/human rights. We'll have to deal with churches individually & from within.

"Oh, I know the homosexual 'rights' demonstrations haven't reached the same level of violence"
stop right there. that's all you need to know, the guy is 'off his rocker'
  • KerrynowCampau · 11 months ago
Let me see if I get Pat's argument: Gays and those that support gay rights are disregarding the rights of Pat and his ilk to be intolerant?

Better come up with a new one Pat.....

ugh. writing books with self-hating gays doesn't mean you like gays, it means you like self-hating gays. xtians are always into the self-hating.

as for the alleged gay groping, i have been the object of attraction for several lesbians, all of whom expressed their attraction in far more respectful terms than any man i've ever met, and who took my "sorry, i just don't feel that way about women" far more gracefully than any man i've ever rejected. also, unlike any man i've rejected, we remain friends.

i love how boone doesn't just have to tell us that he rejected the navy guy, he has to tell us how manfully he did it. yeesh.

yeah and what a mensch for deciding not to broadcast what this homo had done to him. the horror. i guess breaking his wrist assuaged his revulsion.

Mr. Boone needs a medical clinic pronto. What a baffoon.
  • Indigo · 11 months ago
Poor Pat. His 1950s book for teenagers, "Twixt Twelve and Twenty" was fodder for ministers and fools but the average teen thought the book was useless. He dodged every issue an adolescent in those days could ask with double talk and nonsense. I bring that up because the guidance counselor at high school forced that book on us kids as "respectable."

    Bull!

We're going to have our 50th anniversary of high school graduation in the spring. I'm not going to that, you can bet, because the Boone nonsense is, believe it or not, more widespread among my age peers now than it was in the 1950s.

He's a fool! True, he was loyal to Rock Hudson who was also a right wing fool. Hudson was no gay social icon, he was a closeted Republican (and reputed to be a drunk) who just happened to have AIDS at the exact time when it was big news. As for Boone's advice and his endless attempts to explain himself, he's a bigot and that's not going to change.

And so . . . the heck with him!
  • thingwarbler · 11 months ago
I love that the decrepit old relic came up with his very own epitaph: "here lies a cow milker with a vise-like grip."

May he soon rest in peace so the rest of us can live our lives in peace from the likes of him.
  • nicho · 11 months ago
Is a "cow-milker" anything like a "chicken choker?"
  • RainbowPhoenix · 11 months ago
If a certain episode of "Rocko's Modern Life" is any indication, yes.

Praying your gay away isn't working Pat.

    Come on, come out.

    It's OK....
  • nicho · 11 months ago
I know a lot of people. I have never -- in nearly 30 years of being "out" -- have met a happy, well-adjusted ex-gay person. However, I have met a few pretty miserable souls who were undergoing the torture of religious reparation programs. Very sad people indeed.

At the same time, I've met thousands of happy, contented, well-adjusted former Christians. And, I am one.

    Just sayin'

That's the one chink in my armor. I did have the occasion once to fly around in a rather sumptuous private jet -- it was a work thing. It is, as they say, more addictive than crack cocaine.

  • nicho · 11 months ago
Americablog is ruining my self-esteem. About 90 percent of the time I log on here, I see an ad for NetJets. That's a company that sells you fractional shares of private jets for upwards of two or three million dollars. I assume that the ads are here because a significant number of Americablog readers are in the market for private jets. I am beginning to feel insecure, because I have to shop around to find the best economy fares when I fly.

Oh -- and fuck Pat Boone. What an idiot.

Pat Boone is gay, there I said it. Did you see the pic he uses for his article circa 1975? Why not a current one of the washed upknow nothing freak? I thought Vanity is a sin.

I left Mumbai, India 2 days before the terrorists attacked the Taj and the city. I was still in India, and I could see the fear, confusion, and sadness by Indians of the terrible acts committed in their peaceful country.

What happened in Mubmai does NOT compare to the protests by gays in USA.

What an insult by a so called "Christian"/ has been "singer" who spills more hate the more he speaks.

Enough with those throwing hate toward gays and then when we fight back they become "victims". Enough!
  • Ben Dover · 11 months ago
Ok, Pat. You've covered your ass.

Now, to get back to doing what we can to destroy and dismantle the wretched hate-filled Mormon Cult and it's enablers...out of love, of course. To prevent them from doing the same thing to others.

My suggestiion is that every gay and gay-friendly person should order their FREE BOOK OF MORMON. Just go to www.mormon.org/bookofmormon and fill in the blanks.

I thought at first it would cost them a wad of postage if everyone did this. But no. Mormon missionaries will visit you in your home to bring you the Book of Moron--oops, I always forget the m in the middle.

So when they come to sell you their religion, turn the table on them. Sit them down and explain, in the nicest, most respectful way, the system of government we have in the United States. Explain that they are free to practice their religion without interference of the State. Explain that no matter how deeply held their beliefs, it is against the concept of this country to try to legislate them. Explain that the Jews have never tried to make selling pork illegal, that even the Catholic Church is not pushing for amendments to ban divorce. Explain that there are other churches that DO believe in same-sex marriage, and that the Mormons are trampling on THEIR freedom of religion.

Most likely you will meet some younger Mormons doing their forced conscription missionary work. Perhaps thousands of people reasoning with them will cause some of them to question their church's policy. Or their sexual orientation. Some of them might even be rather humpy. What can you lose?

Just watch out for those cow milkers.
  • Milli · 11 months ago
I so agree. Can Catholics put on a ballot a measure to make it illegal for anyone to eat meat on Fridays? Can Muslims put on a ballot a measure to make it illegal for all women in America to not cover their heads? Can Tom Cruise put on a ballot a measure to make taking anti-depressants a crime? Can Mel Gibson put on a ballot a measure to round up...........
  • cowboyneok · 11 months ago
I hope you make that suggestion EVERYWHERE! What a GREAT IDEA! You rock, "wmforr!" I'm copying this suggestion and pasting it over at my blog.

I love Mormons because they are "sinners." Therefore, I want to CHANGE them and make them into the good tolerant American citizens I know in my heart of hearts they can be! See, I love the sinner but hate their sin!

OOps I think a little throw up just came up in my mouth. This guy is a repulsive obviously miserable idiot. All the vile, violent and destructive acts are committed by homophobic right wing bigots that cannot face their own repressed tendencies! I have heard of NO vile, violent and destructive acts committed by homosexuals because it doesn't happen. I am a straight american patriot but I wouldn't want my children anywhere near you intolerant backward redneck sensibilities and as for the patronizing phony I love my gay brothers bulls&*$ you can save it for someone dumb enough to buy it. ...pair of extra small tighty whities over a five day priapism

  • EarthquakeWeather · 11 months ago
    Keep digging, Patty, keep digging.
  • cowboyneok · 11 months ago
Now that Pat has shown us all the hidden rage he has against the gay community, he must NOW prove to us he has no hidden sexual orientation issues. Its time for him to prove he doesn't have any hidden attraction to gays he has been fighting his entire life. For instance, my brother, who is straight, had he been approached by the Navy Vet would have laughed, shook the vet's hand and said, "Hey Dude, you are barking up the wrong tree but thanks for the compliment!" People, like Boone, who react violently, like he did, are telling the rest of the world they have some buried "homosexual" issues they need to share with the rest of us. Its been my experience, straight men don't have an issue with being come onto by gay men. Its only those "straight men" who are desperately trying to prove their masculinity to themselves who react with a "vise like" grip when a gay man reads them as potentially gay. Obviously, his VA friend's gaydar went off with Pat, huh?
  • ckennedy · 11 months ago
    What. A. Tool.
  • curlytoes79 · 11 months ago
"Pat added, oddly, that he was "a cow milker with a vise-like grip." (I'm not sure, but I think that's a fetish in San Francisco.)"

These fundy nutcases can't help but make flagrant homoerotic innuendos--in everyday speech but especially when decrying the evils of the gay lifestyle. I think it's partly because they're not hip to the latest raunchy jokes and slang, but it's also because they spend more time obsessing over homosexuality than most homosexuals do. And of course, a few of them are closeted gays.
  • cowboyneok · 11 months ago
    "a few of them"

Again, the one's who obsess over homosexuality, instead of things like DIVORCE, need to tell us why they are so damned obsessed and what it is about themselves they need to tell the rest of us. They need to PROVE to us they aren't "friends of Ted Haggard's."
  • woodroad34 · 11 months ago
Fundies are constantly letting their slips show -- Freudian slips.
  • cowboyneok · 11 months ago
Twisting that gay man's wrist off was just like those attackers in Mumbai! What a violent evil man! He should apologize immediately to the gay community for his violent reaction to nothing more than a gay man who successfully read Pat's gay repressed tendencies.
  • wearing out my F key · 11 months ago
well, you try to pen a heartfelt apology to the gays, and what happens? they turn on you like one of your best friends at a fast food drive thru. i mean, really, besides vice-like handjobs and equal rights, what do you people want?
  • Jennifer · 11 months ago
Throw a shoe? I can think of many other things I'd prefer to throw. Dubya got off light. This asshole, Pat Boone, needs to shut up and go golfing. Stupid old fart.
  • judybrowni · 11 months ago
    Fuck you, Pat Boone.

    'Nuf said.
  • nicho · 11 months ago
Did you ever notice how severe closet cases always have a story about how they had to overpower a "predatory" gay person? Remember the story of Tucker Carlson boasting about assaulting some gay guy in a men's room? I have heard a lot of similar stories from people I assumed were fighting some serious urges. I guess the stories serve two purposes -- they cement the teller's position as a macho man and continues the meme that all gay men are just predators.
  • cowboyneok · 11 months ago
exactly! They are EXPOSED as soon as they tell one of those stories for the closet cases they are. It proves they are DESPERATELY trying to salvage their idea of their tenuous hold on their masculinity. Straight guys, like my big brother, are totally neutral on the subject. Its ALWAYS the closet cases that scream to high heaven about "the gays!" and how they had to "fight them off."
  • bluestockton · 11 months ago
You don't milk cows with a vise-like grip, because the cows will let you know very quickly that they don't appreciate being caught in a vise. I'm two generations removed from the farm, and even I know better.
  • woodroad34 · 11 months ago
having seen the bare-chested photo back in the '90s of a "metal" Pat Boone...it sure looks like someone had been milking his udders with a vice-like grip.

Pat would LOVE me: I am a long-time Lesbian who used to be a promiscuous self-loathing male homosexual who cross-dressed one day a week (Saturdays) before I cut off my dick with a box cutter and a bottle of Southern Comfort, got breast implants in Juarez (on my dime) and then became a junkie transsexual hooker who worked the Heartland truckstops. And then I found the Lord. And became a nun. I am still a long-time Lesbian who's a big fan of Pat's music. The originals he covered were just too . . . too. . . um, "Black."

  • woodroad34 · 11 months ago
Yeah, Miss Patty was a good friend of Reagan's, who had some homosexual friends as well; all the while doing nothing about AIDS, while his friend Rock Hudson died of it.
  • woodroad34 · 11 months ago
Oh, yeah, Pat. I understand. Some of my best friends are negroes/women/jews/whatever. BTW, the term "politically correct" properly used means towing the line when your political arm is in power...currently, that would be the facist arm of the Republican Party.

My dear ol' Patty, your comment was 'politically correct', not the demonstrators. Therefore, you are the Mumbaian terrorist, not them.
  • cowboyneok · 11 months ago
Pat Boone "I love gays so much, I twisted one's arm off and also prayed over one before he died and I just KNOW the one I prayed over is burning in the lake of fire in my mind, but I DID pray over him because I loved him THAT much!"
  • SouthernYankee · 11 months ago
Can't someone in his family tell him to shut up. He is coming off sooooo stupid. Wow what an idiot. Why oh why can't these bible thumpers realize that people don't chose to be gay. I just hate when these people don't get it.
  • cowboyneok · 11 months ago
because they think they have CHOSEN to be straight. In fact, they have CHOSEN to be hateful, repressed, jealous queens who THINK they are straight because they force themselves to sleep with members of the opposite sex!
  • SouthernYankee · 11 months ago
Yes your right. Still when you ask them when did they chose to be straight they look at you like your dumb. I look back and tell them duh, dumbie. Why would a person chose to be gay when he is born that way.
  • ChicagoKid · 11 months ago
Pat Boone's not gay, just like Larry Craig, Pat Sajak, David Drier, Charlie Crist, Mitch McConnell, Joe Leiberman, Lindsy(sp) Graham, Alan Keyes, Armstrong Williams, Patrick McHenry, Jerry Fallwell, Rush Limbaugh, Ralph Reed, Norma Coleman, Karl ROve, Karen Hughes, Condi RIce, Scotty McClellan, and that lispy prostitute-toe-sucker/political host on Faux news--Dick Morris(the name says it all).
  • wmforr · 11 months ago
    Pat Sajak?
  • cowboyneok · 11 months ago
One very important point is that if someone SAYS it is a choice then its OBVIOUSLY been a CHOICE for them and they aren't truly 100% straight. My Christian brother, who is very friendly and could care less about gays says the same thing. "Hell, I never CHOSE to be straight... I KNOW you wouldn't just CHOSE to be gay. I don't give a rat's ass." That is a NORMAL CHRISTIAN response to gay people.
  • vickif · 11 months ago
When are these people going to get it into their heads that they have no right to vote on other people's civil liberties. The US CONSTITUTION says that everyone has the right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.

  • gwyneth · 11 months ago
What an idiot! I don't know about anyone else on here, but I'm sick to death of being called a terrorist because I support equal rights for US Citizens. It's immoral to expect everyone to not challenge the system when that system is mowing down minorities civil rights because you'll be labeled a "terrorist". Well, guess what? I don't care what you call it then. Were the allied forces of WWII terrorists when they freed the jews from concentration camps? Was the North in the civil war terrorists for fighting slavery? Was Dr. Martin Luther King a terrorist, how about Rosa Parks? Argh!

Well, then I guess we're all terrorists then because the North won in the civil war and abolished slavery so, if you believe in that -- then according to the Mormons and Pat Boone your a terrorist!

To the religious reich people: There is a difference between lobbying for equal civil rights and terrorism. There's even a difference if it did get "violent" (which protests and boycotts are NOT), but in instances where the world has HAD to get violent in order to shut bigots down before they take over the Earth like with Hitler - it's not called terrorism.

Everyone agrees that violence is not the answer for this problem because the Constitution should do it's job and protect the people, what I'm saying is that there is a difference in fighting against something that is inherently wrong such as bigotry and being a "terrorist." It's just the religious reich trying to play the victim in an effort to mask what their really doing which is tyrannizing other US Citizens based on their crackpot religions and their beliefs that they are better than everybody else and deserve more rights. If anyone's a terrorist, it's them!!

Pat, Pat, Pat.... If you feel THAT sorry for us, you might consider letting us poor, sick, unhappy homosexuals get married. I know. It's not the democratic thing to do. And it might not be the expedient thing for you as an entertainer to do. But think of how it would light up our dismal, soon to be in hell faces.

PS - Vice-like grip? Those poor cows! I bet they wished you were gay.
  • cowboyneok · 11 months ago

  • Milli · 11 months ago
Pat Boone, we should all take a vote to make you shut the hell up. Majority rules. Who the hell other than 80 year olds like you? And you can't whine about it either. That would make you a terrorist.

Not many people in the world right now can make John McCain look youthful and vibrant.......
  • RitornaVincitor · 11 months ago
You know, Pat, I just couldn't get you off my mind all through dinner. I kept thinking back to 1971 when I was stationed at Pearl Harbor and decided being Catholic wasn't enough to make me straight. So for four horrible months I went born-again and got hooked up with the Open Door Ministries in Fort Derussy in Waikiki. What an experience that was! Speaking in tongues, having demons cast out of me, and getting to make friends with the sickest people I'll ever know. Didn't cure me of being gay, but it did introduce me to you in a way. The minister - I've forgotten his name - thought the world of you. He had been kicked out of his main-line denominational church when he had "received the gifts of the Spirit". In other words when he started babbling in tongues and acting weird. But somehow you had heard of his plight, and you sent him a check for $500, which was quite a bit in those days. And I thought you must be such a great guy.

But now here you are, a man of your age, still trying to convince the world that you're not gay. We believe you, Pat! And even if you're secretly gay, who cares? Honestly, was it necessary to point out how you used your vice-like grip to remove that guy's hand from your thigh? I know you were associated with Hollywood, and so were a lot of gay guys, so maybe you felt you had a lot to prove. But still? And don't you think that maybe a lot of straight women make passes at gay guys? Why, it's even happened to me. And speaking of me, I got over all the nonsense I picked up from religious people and went on to be happy and successful. Could you maybe mention some gay friends of yours that are not quite so troubled? Such gay people do exist, you know. Lots and lots of them.
  • Blueflash · 11 months ago
Don't hold your breath waiting for the likes of Pat Boone to allude to any mentally and physically healthy gays. The truth about us has never been of any concern to these fundie haters. Spreading and fomenting the ugliest slanders and stereotypes of us in order to maintain our status as a shunned and despised minority has always been their only goal. The infuriating irony is that to whatever extent some gays are troubled it's largely due to the environment of intolerance that they themselves have created for us in this country. Anyway, even though our battle for respect and dignity in this society is far from over we really no longer need to expend our energy in anger toward these sad perverters of ethics and spirituality - they're losing.
  • gwyneth · 11 months ago
By the way, it's men like John Avrosis that confirm for me deep down inside, that I am most definitely straight. There's just something about good looking, well educated, liberal men! mmmm hmmmm, he's hot!

Pat Boone, the new Anita Bryant. Don't you just love those who hide behind their religious upbringing? He must feel comfort in knowing that he is better than everyone else since god told him so.
