AMERICAblog: Sounds like McCain is losing his marbles

  • Busboy · 1 year ago
It doesn't matter, Obama's response would be found on page 45 of the Washpo..
  • KarenMrsLloydRichards · 1 year ago
Obama firmly challenged McCain to refrain from questioning his patriotism yesterday. So now McCain "rephrases" the motivation for continuing his smears. Now Obama has to hit back again, always on the defensive. When will, and how can, Obama go on the offense? When will, and how can, Obama get out in front and put McCain on the defense?

Announce a "War on Dementia and Alzheimer's"?
  • Steve_in_CNJ · 1 year ago
Obama put him on the defensive with his tour of the Middle East and Europe, then again by debunking the drill-now energy plan. The problem is that McCain responds with lies and distortions. With the assistance of the media, people believe the lies and Obama comes up short. How do you debate people with no principles when the judges (the electorate) are profoundly stupid?

Obama is the true Manchurian Candidate... for the Republicans.

He's a 21st century Adlai Stephenson. He's well on his way to loosing this rate. He's letting a 72 year old with two marbles in his head run rings around him. He lost his mojo the minute Hillary conceded and he started tacking to the center. His highest polls were BEFORE he tacked to center. Now he's playing patty cake and stumbling down Kerry, Gore and Dukakis road, trying to make nice with people who would never vote for him in a million years. Somewhere out there is a progressive candidate who enjoys politics and doesn't pull his punches. In the mean time we can't win even during a Democratic year because of the pansies we have as leaders of the party.
  • CalGal · 1 year ago
I really don't follow your logic. He was recruited by the Right Wing?

You may not like how he's campaigning, but a Manchurian Candidate is a mole, and an effective one at that, not a doofus.
  • Bubbles · 1 year ago
    Obama's campaigning? I hardly noticed!

You don't get the inference: He campaigned hard to win the nomination, and form that point on he's done so much more to lose the election, in a slam dunk year against an septuagenarian to boot, simply by not campainging - at least as if he wanted the job. He's in a street fight and he spends virtually two weeks on vacation? If he doesn't like campaigning he should be running. He can go on vacation in three months. somewere there's a progressive who actually likes to do battle in the streets. It's becoming obvious that Obama's Kumbaya is not up to the job. I see this as America's last chance. He should so bare himself that if people will look back on this campaign and say that this was his finest hour. If McCain wins this election we are entering a long and ugly dark age, resembling the world in latin America, the likes none have ever escaped from.

Let me make clear on the Manchurian Candidate (for the Republicans): He was a democrat while running against Hillary. After winning the nomination, he turned into a republican, including helping the Republican, a 72 year old who can't put on his own clothes, or remember what day it is, run rings around his campaign.

You know, he can sleep when he's dead. He's in one of history's most important positions and he's practically sleep walking throught the campaign. It's as if the republicans ask him not to campaign, and so he didn't. Or even worse, when they played rough with he cried fowl, like a cry baby or something. It's politics, its a blood sport and everything, EVERYTHING is at stake now. It's all or nothing. What the Republicans have planned for this country is truly, truly revolting and unthinkable, but it will come to pass if November goes to McCain. Obama has to fight the good fight, and go down kicking and screaming and fighting. If ever there was a cause worth fighting for, its the future of our country. In my mind McCain's election is tantamount to losing WWII to the Germans. It's the end of America as we knew it.

This is the standard GOP play. Question someone's patriotism, then deny because they never used the actual words "I question your patriotism." Twenty years ago another criminal named Bush pulled the same thing on Dukakis.

Cheney did the same thing after it became apparent that Saddam Hussein had no weapons of mass destruction. One of the ersatz journalists asked him about the assertion that Hussein was an imminent threat. His response was, "We never said imminent." And they didn't use that precise word as it turns out...

our little Maverick's campaign attack dogs probably tell him not to worry his bald pate over what they say...he gets his 1 talking point every morning and he damn well better stick to it.

whatever happened to Vicky Iseman anyway?

Cindy McCain: the first First Lady negative role model.
  • Busboy · 1 year ago
tls, if Obama was as smart as you; he would be ahead by 15. You can't be "his" karma. He has to get his own groove. Maybe he will; who knows?
  • tlsintx · 1 year ago
what in the hell are you talking about?
did you catch GOPer dementia, or what?

    it's happy hour...laters.
  • Busboy · 1 year ago
I'd buy a round, but you're somewhere in hyperspace... Have a good one...
  • CalGal · 1 year ago
Unfortunately, smart has nothing to do with it.

I think by all standard measures, Obama is waaaay smarter than McCain.

Al Gore and John Kerry were BOTH smarter than Dim Son. Probably each of them were smarter than Dim Son and Favored Tragic Son (made his Dad cry that the wrong one was elected president).
  • Busboy · 1 year ago
Well, Adrian, at least she wasn't ashamed of her country for forty years while she listened to "hate whitey" from the altar...
  • lynchie · 1 year ago
Again I say to you show me the proof that she was ashamed for 40 years and that she listented to hate Whitey. Go back to your Republican blogs and leave us the fuck alone.
  • KarenMrsLloydRichards · 1 year ago
Do not feed trolls like Busboy. He should be clearing the plates now instead of posting to this blog. "O Busboy, wipe the crumbs off this table, pronto!" It's a darn shame he doesn't he even make the minimum wage...so I am never really angry with him. And we don't want to take too close a look at his immigration status...
  • Busboy · 1 year ago
Oh, I see; you're upper crust; beyond reproach. Try to use that and a dollar to buy a mocha grande at Starbucks and tell us how that works out...

    Non stupid, mostly.

How old was she when she said that "for the first time in my life, I love my country"?
  • lynchie · 1 year ago
Well when it comes to lying it runs in the family.

    http://features.csmonitor.com/politics/2008/08/...

Seems Cindy claimed that Mother Teresa begged her to bring back the two sick children and Cindy complied. But, guess what it is a lie.

The latest embellishments come from the McCain camp. Cindy McCain has repeatedly referred to herself as an “only child.” This week came news that she actually has two half sisters, although apparently she had very little contact with them.

But no one ever seems to call them on their bullshit. When a Republican shows his identification at Airport Security they simply pull out the card that says=-= "Certified liar, pedophile and Crook" that is their pass to do what they like.

The McCain campaign had also put out the story that Mother Teresa “convinced” Cindy to bring home two orphans from Bangladesh in 1991.

Mrs. McCain, it turns out, never met Mother Teresa on that trip. (Once contacted by the Monitor, the campaign revised the story on its website.)

Such exaggerations may simply be the product of a faulty memory or a desire to be “better” than one is in a political culture that requires larger-than-life idols. But with the advent of the fact-checking obsessed blogosphere – and a media racing to keep up – such self-aggrandizement doesn’t last as long as it once did.
  • vwcat · 1 year ago
I don't care if he was a POW for 20 years, lying is lying and disparing someone's patriotism is disparaging someone's patriotism. And McCain is not above my criticism and I will criticize him from now until doomsday if I so choose.
In other words, this shit about McCain not being able to be vetted, questioned or criticized because he was a POW is just that - shit!
  • AdrianBrowne · 1 year ago
Denying one's own family members; that's pretty low. What did Cindy's half-sisters do to deserve that?
  • KarenMrsLloydRichards · 1 year ago
It's easy to picture Daddy Hensley, dying in his mansion like Citizen Kane, uttering his last breaths, as Cindy grabs hold of his hand, thrusts a pen in it, and guides his quavering hand to the will, which she amended to cut her half-sisters out, for one last "signature."
  • AdrianBrowne · 1 year ago
    Ssssh! Don't mention Cindy's . . . roots.

Being that ol Johnny can't resist the rich thin blondes, as a Canadian I would like to offer the services of one of our own to entice John into a scandal - Belinda Stronach - heiress to the billion dollar Magna Internaional auto parts fortune, thin, blonde and divorced - dated hockey players (Tie Domi, etc.) speed skaters and politicians. And most importantly for John, younger than Cindy. Now if he could only use a computer, he might be able to find her on Lavalife - damn the luddite!

Can't Cindy steal him some Aricept from some charity?

What Media will not tell you about John McCain

    http://www.gabrielbraun.com/2008/08/what-media-...

This is an assessment of John McCain preparation and experience to be President and Commander-in-Chief prior to his political career. A discussion of his Commander-in-Chief qualification has been taboo in the media. Yet, he can still assert that this is his advantage over Obama. I would hope that John McCain or his people would share with us the aspects of his military career that provides viable experience for the role of Commander-in-Chief. The charges of elitism leveled at Obama are a truly reflected in John McCain's life. Elitism and privilege have been the cornerstones of his life journey, certainly not character, intellect and merit.
  • CalGal · 1 year ago
From now on I'm going to refer to him as John "7th Commandment" McCain.

After all, his moral failing was not his failed marriage.

His moral failing was he COMMITTED ADULTERY.

He didn't just commit a sin. He violated one of the bases of our entire legal system. Of natural law, etc., etc.

Just as bad as killing (oops, he did that, too).

OK, just as bad as taking the Lord's name in vain. (Um, from what people say about his "profane language" when's he angry, this one is probably toast, too.)

We know he bears false witness, because he's lied about what he said just a few days before, and he wrote that letter from the POW camp, and he just today said he never said Obama wasn't patriotic.

Well, I can't say he ever coveted his neighbor's wife, because everybody I know of that he's run around with was single.

Where was I going with this?
  • LisaLV711 · 1 year ago
...and he keeps selling these lemmings, who support him, the same bill of goods! Who cares that he had a "failed first marriage." A divorce? Half the country is divorced. Who is kidding? What about those days as a POW and how he coveted the enemy there, hum?
