AMERICAblog: Sovereign wealth funds trimming US investments

Wars on 2 fronts, Iraq and Afghanistan, and saber rattling in another, Iran, is bound to put world markets off as far as the USD is concerned, IMHO. Remember the old "you can't have guns AND butter" argument? It still holds true in the 21st century.

Meanwhile, why is the MSM questioning Gore about the mere $3 trillion estimate, over 30 YEARS, to change the future of this country as far as energy is concerned? I guess oil and coal interests probably own a large piece of the MSM (GE, anyone? among others). Where is the real challenge to changing the infrastructure of energy coming from? Where else but the current energy giants?

There is no reason on earth that builders cannot build houses and other structures already equipped with solar energy plants of their own. In the south, this would be a no brainer--instead of all the luxury built into the McMansions, just as an example, all that granite, marble, overdone nickel, brass, heart of cherry floors, etc., which costs far more than ensuring constant energy for a (ahem!) smaller but quite adequate house.

Different sections of the country could tailor their energy needs and locations for what is best suited for them.

We as a country don't need more luxury, we need a commonsense energy policy that will serve us, and the planet, if we want to keep it and ensure our own survival, for many years into the future.
