Is it possible that all those Republicans favoring Colbert don't get that he's lampooning them, not one of them??

I am 65+ and I favor Stewart. Colbert is a little much for me. Apparently seniors do not count in the polls. I think we some times "get it" better than the younger crowd. The young look at both Stewart and Colbert as entertainers, which they are, but they definitely have a message behind their madness which perhaps the young don't care about.

When Colbert did the White House Correspondents Dinner in 2006...it was quite evident the Republicans didn't 'get' it.

I was wondering the same. I always believed Colbert was solidly liberal, making sardonic and biting parodies of brain dead logic, and typical neo-con ivory tower thinking.
It may be young republicans are taking it a step futher?
I don't really care about that, I DO want to see Limbaugh arrested for inciting a riot, and terrorism though. He wasn't parodying, and has proven himself to be a huge enemy of the State (we always knew he was an enema of the state)

Colbert has the better routine, Stewart has the sharper insight. Repugs don't get it with Colbert, thats how good he is at what he does. Stewart is much less comedic and alot more political, I favor Stewart, but for comedy relief Colbert is great.

The Republicans are trying to spin the whole Colbert mystique in their favor. It is similar to how they took the tragic lie about WMD and now make a joke of it (like Bush did at the White House Dinner). The same with Cheney and his shooting of another man. They have no problem taking their very worst mistakes and pretending they are nothing more than funny trip-ups. In other words they are trying to reform Colbert's routine as laughing "with them" instead of "at them".

I wonder how many of those Republicans dont realize Colbert is mocking them.
The press is so subservient and compliant to Bush that he is able to take enormous mistakes he made and make them all giggle about it. It's the same way Republicans twist Colbert's humor around to their favor.
