AMERICAblog: Still recounting in Minnesota Senate Race. Still very close.

Nate Silver said you shouldn't look at the secretary of state or the Star Tribune's numbers anymore because they are worthless. There are thousands of contested ballots and they don't get counted in the total. It should also be noted that Coleman has contested more ballots than Franken recently, which may explain why his total seems to have grown. We are all going to have to just wait till this contested ballots are decided upon till we know anything relevant.
sorry that's not thousands that's hundreds have been contested. Big difference lol.

Recount math (of a sort)
Based on what the first-day totals of the Great Minnesota Recount hint at, the winner of the U.S. Senate race will/might/could be….
ATTENTION PARTISANS: HOLD YOUR FIRE. THIS IS STRICTLY HYPOTHETICAL CALCULATOR WORK. CAVEATS TO FOLLOW.
The winner will/might/could be…(drum roll, please)…Al Franken – by 12 votes, out of the nearly 2.9 million-ballots that were cast.
Here’s how the numbers work: Franken started the day Wednesday unofficially trailing Sen. Norm Coleman by 215 votes. By the end of the day, with 18 percent of the state’s votes counted, Franken had shaved that lead to 174 votes. If that pattern continues to hold in the remaining 82 percent of the precincts (admittedly a BIG if), Franken would pick up 227.7 votes. And that would leave him the winner, by 12.7 votes.
Of course, reality will complicate such a neat conclusion ...
Wow. Those examples don't have a prayer of being successfully challenged by the Coleman campaign. How many of their challenged ballots are llke that? We could win easily win this thing with a couple hundred more of those kind of examples. I hope the ballots we challenge are more credible.

Wow, Coleman challenging votes for Franken that were clearly marked as such even though they voted for McBush? And Coleman thinks "voter intent" (where a voter didn't fill in any choice for senator) is a valid challenge? What's he going to do, call them up and find out what they were thinking? No, Normie, you can't do that...

Obama is apparently snubbing Lieberdouche.
On Meet the Press Lieberman said he called Obama after the election, and Obama has yet to call him back. Although he did say Rahm Emanuel called him back. I wonder what that conversation must have been like

Good. Let "Lieberdouche" talk to the hand!

I can just hear "Traitor Joe" in an imagined conversation after the election.
"Hi, Barry! Its me! JOE! Wow, I'm so proud... we did it... WE REALLY DID IT! I knew we would! What? Surely not. You think I might be responsible for you not getting to 60 votes in the Senate? What?!!? I don't understand. Just because I called you the wrong choice for Americans, called you all kinds of nasty names and campaigned against you and fellow Democratic Senators??? I'm just really saddened you would think that about me, Barry! You KNOW I've always been your biggest supporter! What was that? Oh, that noise? I just threw up and crapped myself simultaneously - no worries, Barry! Oh, Barry, did I ever say I love you and the Democratic Party?"

Franken wins this by 50-75 votes via the court ruling....you read it here first.

Oh boy, I do hope you are correct. At least on the Franken wins part.
I took it and got an 84.8. I guess I need to work on my Civics.
cowboyneok

I only got a 78%, but I think that test dealt with a little more than basic "civics." I'm not saying I'm a civics genius but some of those questions seemed to be "tricky trivia" rather than civics questions.

So much for the conventional wisdom, though, that elected officials are our "betters", hey? I"ve always thought the opposite, esp. with locals.
cowboyneok

I think the conventional wisdom is that government officials are ignorant buffoons and this really proves the point.
I WANT NAMES AND PARTY ID of every elected official who took this test. In fact, I want to see a break down between Democratic and Republican officials. I KNOW the Democrats scored higher! Fascist Republicans make most of their policy decisions and votes based on ignorance of civics.
I especially want to see what that idiot, Michelle Bachmann, scored on her test. Didn't she want all congressmen to be tested to see how "loyal" they were to America? This would be a perfect test for her. I'm sure that fool would FLUNK.
I get an 88 and you get a 78 and Republicans are fascist? Your have an agenda and don't like it when people disagree with you.

Congratulations on beating my score by ten points. I'm sure most of your Republican leaders failed. Fascist? You betcha. Most Republicans I know are very fascist ideologues. I have an agenda, and you and your Republican friends don't? Everyone has an agenda, "my friend." (in my best John McCain snark)

I'm a Republican and I scored a 87.88%. The questions weren't tricky. I'm just a well informed Conservative. That's more than I can say about most people who voted in this yuear's election.

Independent candidate, Barkley, cost Franken a clear win. If Coleman were all about the "will of the people" in Minnesota, he would concede, but we know we won't be seeing THAT!
"Returns showed Barkley trailing a distant third, but also pulling enough Democrats and independents to possibly cost Franken the race."
I also believe Senator Lieberman did a good job of protecting his good buddy, Norm Coleman, and is one of the biggest unresolved resentments we should have against not doing anything to punish that traitor!

Coleman concede? The last I heard was you never concede when your winning. You will be crying when Ole Norm wins.
cowboyneok
LOL - cry? Dream on, big man. The only people that will be crying will be those "Independents" in Minnesota who wasted their vote and would have rather had Coleman. As far as crying is concerned, I could not be happier about electing Barack Obama as President, and getting rid of so many lousy Republicans in congress. Crying?... chortle. I'm sure you've shed a tear or two since the election, huh? LOL! Loser.

One more thing "Johnny boy" - one of the biggest reasons why I want to see that scum bucket, Coleman, lose is I'm sick of Republican obstructionism. The last thing we need after eight years of driving our nation into a ditch is a bunch of fillibustering to ensure our nation falls into a deeper hole. I know how self centered Republicans are and your party will sacrifice our nation for political ambition every time. Republican Talibangelicals are too self centered and short sighted to realize that this isn't some sort of game or popularity contest. Its about ensuring our nation digs itself out of the deep hole Republicans have created. I guarantee ya if we posed a question to you and fellow Republicans, "What would you rather see: Democrats succeed in digging out of the deep hole Republicans have created, or Republican obstructionism and for America to fall into a deep depression?" You, and your idiot Republicans, would choose "fall into a deep depression" every time!

Exit polling showed IP Barkley voters would have, by a majority, either not voted, or voted for Franken. Can you say spoiler?
Not only the contested ballots are at issue, but hundreds of possibly wrongly rejected absentee ballot (envelopes) for signature mismatches, witness signature issues etc. Lots more to sort out there.

Todays republican party has become tomorrows new republican fascist party and in doing so must be stopped at all cost... for the good of the nation!
