It was telling that many of those incidents didn't happen in the south. The whole country is suffused with hate of many kinds right now, especially among the least capable of leading a secure and safe life. Also telling that most of it is done in the dead of night, or secretively.

Haven't seen anything of the sort in this neck of the woods in NC where I live--yet. Let's all wish for Obama and his family's utmost safety.

Cross burnings. Schoolchildren chanting "Assassinate Obama." Black figures hung from nooses. Racial epithets scrawled on homes and cars.

Keep in mind also that the cops are extremely racist and they are the ones who are reporting these incidents. The reported incidents are probably the tip of the iceberg. Cops in Obama's own Chicago perpetrated racial attacks against Blacks celebrating Obama's victory. From the tone of the article, the massive scale of the racism may well shamefully turn Obama's victory into a defeat for Black Americans. Coupled with the extremist right wing hysteria over gay marriage and we may have the fuel for a very dangerous violent time of right wing violence on these two groups. Also says a lot that ugly hateful racists would find aliance with those professing morality as the reason for their bigoted attacks on gays. While that alliance may only exist in my mind, I suspect I am right and both groups overlap and share common beliefs, goals and tactics under the right wing banner.

We want to hear progressives talk about how we are going to dig out of the Republican HOLE we are in. We do NOT want to hear what Republican is doing to come along and drive us further into the ditch.

Now that Mike Steele has reemerged from limbo, after his Maryland Senate race loss in 2006, it'll be interesting how the Repubs trot him about as the Alterna-Obama. Pity no one ever took the time to interview him during the primaries or the general election race. I wonder if there'll be calls to kill his black azz like Obama's.

WTF?

When the hell did this happen? Where was the cry for George W. Bush to find a role for Al Gore and John Kerry?

How big a percentage of the vote does a Democrat have to get before it isn't "really" a victory for Republicans?
