AMERICAblog: Sunday Talk Shows Open Thread

    Good morning.

I wonder if Russert can/will move beyond flag pins and Rev. Wright and onto the issues

Frank Rich has a must read article in the NY Times this morning:

The All-White Elephant in the Room

I think Hill-Billy may have already trashed the Dems. She is swiftboating Obama as well as any GOPer. And I had such hope six months ago for the nation.

    Time for a revolution.

I'll be channel surfing to see if a single one of these shows is going to cover the scandal of Hillary's staff using the n-word to denigrate Obama and other African-Americans. The proof has been all over the internet the last few days, but of course that means nothing to the stupid MSM. I'm so sick of them covering for nasty, racist Hillary.

BAGHDAD — A major hospital in Baghdad's Sadr City slum was damaged Saturday when an American military strike targeted a militia command center just a few yards away, the U.S. military said.

The rocket strike near Sadr Hospital injured 30 people, shattered the windows of ambulances and sent doctors and hospital staff fleeing the scene, hospital officials said.

So Stephanopols will be paying homage to his old boss, queen Hillary today.
I guess he will treat her with reverence, and not ask her if Peter Paul loves America like she does, or why she does not wear a flag pin. Good ole George knows all about the Clintons, and their sordid years in the WH, so he will not go there. It is time our spineless media knew what their priorities are. They are so wrapped up in tabloid reporting, that they fail to address the real issues. Who cared if Gore sighed, who cared if he wore earth tones, who cared to have a drink with a candidate. Look how they covered the 2000 elections, and look what we are cursed with - Bush. After nearly a million deaths in Iraq, and a trillion of our money spent on a bloody war, we still have about 28 percent of American idiots thinking Bush is great!
Are we a nation of idiots, who cannot vote with their brains? Yes.

oh god. I tuned into Russert and he started out with the rev Wright questions. what a tool
  • The Tim Channel · 1 year ago
Timmeh took the first fourth of the show so far on nothing but Rev Wright. The correct answer for Obama when asked what he had learned about this Wright incident he should have said it showed badly on him for a minute, but badly on the news media for the last week.

    Enjoy.

Prepare for the Landslide Punitive Election of 2008.
  • OlderAndWiser · 1 year ago
timtimes, could we have expected any less of Timmeh? He's as racist as the rest of the predominantly white media...I often wonder how some of the black reporters and pundits (not that many) can hold their own anger.

So, when, if ever, will be hear about the white, really racist, churches? I'm wouldn't bet on that one--ever.

It figures McCrazy would have the CEO who almost bankrupted Hewlitt Packard; goes right along with his ignorance of economics. How much money did Fiorina cost stockholders? She's probably for subbing the stock market for Social Security as well...

Don't listen to these greedheads--ever. Because it's all about THEM, not you.

The Vichy-like naivete of Gene Sperling:

    http://www.nytimes.com/2006/01/22/books/review/...

Sperling suggests that Dems co-opt Americans when working with the Rethugs--it figures for the Clintons...no wonder she praises McCrazy while trashing Obama. It's in her blood.
  • OlderAndWiser · 1 year ago
I lived in Charlotte for 40 yrs...and the Observer almost always endorsed Dems. However, it's still a conservative city, even more so now that it's the #2 financial center in the country. And the Observer's endorsements usually don't change minds. It's been called a "red rag" over the years for simply endorsing progressive candidates. That shows you the tenor of the city, where progressive attitudes usually reside in only a few neighborhoods and many conservative Rethugs are scattered throughout the more affluent neighborhoods that have been built up in the last 25 years, including the downtown area with its million dollar plus condos.

In fact, when reading voting results, you get a picture of how party loyalties are broken down by zip codes.

repeating grandma's comment below about Frank Rich's column, especially since Tim Russert continues obsessing over Wright...ad nauseum.

White male televangelists get a free ride, just like their endorsee John McCain...now why is that? Hagee is one big white elephant, too. Can we talk about him for several weeks?

Do you think the Hagee pass is because Hagee spews his poison all over the right people to hate? :(

Just turned on Russert, ugh! I want Obama to just say let's get on with the issues. I am sick of Russert's gotcha interviews.

My boyfrried just called me from the Chicago airport. He flew out of Burlington, Vermont this morning 6am and Howard Dean was sitting behind him in coach.

My boyfriend will talk to anyone and everyone, so he noticed Deans flag pin, Dean said the Republicans dont corner the market on flag pins. Then boyfriend said he gave money directly to the Obama campaign and that Deans organization keeps calling him (he is a card carrying member) but he would not give them any money until Hillary is forced out of the race.

That gave Howard Dean a chuckle.

(I guess he was on his way to the FOX interview.....)
  • LuisvilleLady · 1 year ago
shanobama: "... but he would not give them any money until Hillary is forced out of the race."

He should have spat on Howard Dean, lol. Remember Dean is the one who discriminated against a gay DNC staffer and had to testify under oath. The DNC doesn't deserve a penny until Obama is given his rightful nomination. Until Dean and the DNC cronies rebuke the corrupt Clintons and their racist ways, I will never give a dime to them.

What I do not get is Clinton's insistence that at the end of the day, despite the fact she is behind in all voter indicators, she is the best candidate. That at the end of the day she feels she is the only one that can beat McCain. Is she counting on the fact that all Dems will pull that Democratic lever, regardless of whose name is listed? If she is counting on that she has pretty much alienated a large number of voters and could be in for a shock.

The other question I think super delegates need to start asking themselves, why are the Republicans pushing for Clinton to be the nominee?

Crazy Angry White Man ( Hagee ) hates Catholics and Jews, Only likes Jews because they will help bring about the 2nd Coming. Then the Jews will be made into Christians or be sent into hell. McCain loves this man and asked to kiss Hagee’s ring. Does the MSM report on this? Noooooooo! But Crazy Angry Black Man ( Wright ) gets tons of coverage. What gives?

Racism, make the Black man look as crazy and as angry as you can. Why not make the White man look just as crazy and angry? Where are Hagee’s clips being played 24 / 7 on MSM outlets?

    Racism?

    Ron Paul favors Obama!

In an interview on The Situation Room, Paul told Wolf Blitzer that endorsing Sen. John McCain, the Republican Party’s presumptive nominee, “would really confuse” his supporters “because they know we have a precise program and we have to defend that program.”

Having a Republican win the upcoming presidential election is “secondary” for Paul who is more interested in defending the Constitution, having the country go in what he considers the right direction, having a sound currency, and achieving balanced budgets. Paul parts ways with McCain over McCain’s support for the Iraq war, his approach to U.S. foreign policy in the Middle East and his willingness to spend federal dollars to support military operations in Iraq.

Instead, Paul favors Sen. Barack Obama because of positions on foreign policy.
