"...The theocrats are in a frenzy because McCain has said he'd consider a pro-choice vice president.....

Good. They can start a third party or stay home.

That Hillary woman has plans, BIG plans for the Democratic Convention. She will destroy the party and smile her fake, phony grin all the while handing the election to Grampa McSame.

    WHY won't Hillary GO AWAY?

"...in the 21st century, nations don't invade other nations..."

our little maverick actually said this and cannot, for the life of him, see any blind arrogance in it. this is why he scares me to death.

Romney and Lieberman have flipped on so many positions (and with the Mittster, specifically on right-to-choose), is there any doubt that both would suddenly become anti-choice IF that was the price of admission to McCrazy's ticket? There is not ANY pander that any Rethug is above if they thought it would help them continue the bamboozlement of the American people and the CCCP (Compliant Complicit Corporate Press).
  • hawkseye · 1 year ago
It seems to me that Romney already flipped on abortion during the primary. I think he's anti-choice now. And if memory serves me, Lieberman was anti-choice before he became Gore's VP nominee and then said he would support Gore's position.

A little bit OT: Has anyone ever heard mcshame mention his mother?? Or did he crawl out from under some rock? Most men give credit for their successes to their parents, including their mothers. Obama talks all of the time about his grandmother and his mother. Mcshame......never! We all know how he feels about women but his own mother!!!

Excellent point...As the faux commentators fall over themselves to trumpet McBush's Right to Life-iness at last evening's Fat Preacher Pray for View, I was struck by Johnny extremely poor answer to the "3 smartest people you know" question as compared to Obama's answer.
  • hawkseye · 1 year ago
I'm glad you have a different view of last night's interviews than I do. I thought Obama's answers were excellent. But I think McCain won, hands down, with his slick presentation of Rethug sound bite talking points for simpletons. And he had an audience of mostly adoring simpletons, including Warren.
Warren chose questions he was pretty sure McSame would be able to answer easily in ways that might persuade any wavering evangelicals.

only in America does a guy who forced his ex girlfriend to have an exorcism get "serious" treatment by the media

Perino's got a job at Pox. She's blonde. No other qualifications asked for or needed.
  • naschkatzehussein · 1 year ago
Seriously? I mean about FUX. We all know she really mouse-brown. They always are.
  • Rob Mule · 1 year ago
    Vicuña brown...
  • hardeknox · 1 year ago
Aren't you "dyeing" to know for sure?
  • ClintonHater · 1 year ago
Can we assume all of these people are not going to be Veeps?
  • naschkatzehussein · 1 year ago
I'll go with that with maybe the exception of Biden if he scores in Georgia. I think it will be a military figure who outranks John McCain.
  • Bush_Bites · 1 year ago
    Please, not Daschle.
  • duchessofbilgewater · 1 year ago
Well, I am going to be the very first to know who Obama picks as his VP -- I signed up for the email. I'll be sure to let you guys know as soon as I hear ....
  • ClintonHater · 1 year ago
Colin Powell... You heard it here first

Why do I think its going to be Sebelius? I have no firm, rational reason to think that. Does anybody else think that?

If you do you are probably like me, usually wrong, gut feelings always off base; nothing much learned from 64 years on the planet. Sigh.
  • cmpnwtr · 1 year ago
On Sebelius. Yes, it's just a man's intuition, but I do think it's going to be her. After 60 years on the planet my intuition has been more right than wrong.
  • Rob Mule · 1 year ago
She puts her right foot in,
She pulls her right foot out.
She puts her right foot in
    And shakes it all about.
    She do the Hokie-Cokie
    An she turns herself around
And that's what its all about!

The usual useless drivel from the traditional media concerning last night's useless "forum". The media will trumpet this for the next 45 minutes as the GREATEST INDICATOR THAT THE AMURKIN PUBLIC IS MOVING TOWARD MCCAIN, totally ignoring some of the damage that his comments have made to his campaign.
1.) First, who watched this forum? It was on a Saturday night during the summer against the Olympics. RW fundies and a small number of political junkies.
2.) Many are freaking because they think that the 2004 election was won by the so-called "value voters". No, we lost the 2004 election because of worries about security and the Bush/Cheney bogus terrorist warnings. The value voters were estimated to be about 22% of the electorate in 2004, and 25% of them vote for Kerry, which means about 20M of them voted for Bush. The only way Obama could ever possibly win these hardcore fundies is if he denounced every Democratic tenet our party has held for the last 75 years, and that ain't gonna happen. Also, remember that in 2004, the war was still fairly popular, the economy was still (erroneously) thought to be in great shape, and Katrina hadn't happened yet to expose the utter incompetency of the Bush/Cheney cabal.
3.) There is no way in hell Obama could have turned down the invite to this forum, since the McCain campaign would have flogged him as a coward and irreligious. But there are two things that happened which are a bright spot for Obama:
A.) It makes it extremely hard to be smeared by the "Obama is a Muslim" fallacy, except by the extreme fundie nutcases who will believe this lie even if Jesus appears in their morning toast and disputes it, and
B.) It totally destroys John McCain's claim that he is a moderate. His hardline RW attitudes about abortion and the Supreme Court may solidify his fundie base - who would have to vote for him anyway - but it is going to lose him a major amount of votes from independents and moderate Republicans (yes, there are still a few of those around), especially Republican women who are pro-choice. Over 70% of the country believes in some type of legalized abortion, and McCain's extremist abortion views are not going to resonate. The RW thinks so, but anyone only has to remember one name to put their judgement into question: Terry Schiavo. You can't rally the base and then piss off 70-75% of the electorate at the same time and also win the election.
Remember, the traditional media said all of the same things during the 2006 midterms, trying to build up the Republican chances against a Democratic win, and they were wrong about nearly everything. They are still in their Karl Rove mode, still think he is the political genius of the last 100 years, not realizing that the only time Rove's tactics really work is during a time of fear and disaster. The only reason Bush stayed in office so long and remained popular was because nearly 3000 people died in NYC on 9/11/2001. Katrina destroyed that illusion. GOBAMA!
  • hawkseye · 1 year ago
Very thoughtful post. My only disagreement is this: if every person in Ohio who set out for the polls to vote for Kerry had been able to, Kerry would have won. And there were problems in Florida, too---again. The 2004 election was stolen as surely as the one in 2000, IMNSHO.
I believe Bush or Cheney or both gave Georgia the green light on moving troops into Osettia so that they can gin up fear in this country prior to the election.

    OT:
My partner of 36 years and I got married here in California, and it was a wonderful ceremony and party. In a few days, I'll post a link to some photos.
  • mirth · 1 year ago
Congrats to Kay and Bonnie. I very much enjoyed the article about the two of you and I'm thrilled about your wedding. I look forward to pics!
    Long life and happiness.
  • hawkseye · 1 year ago
There will be another newspaper article this week, and I'll post a link to that, too. There were almost 200 (about 50/50 gay and straight) people at the wedding and the Mayor assisted our minister and witnessed the marriage certificate signing.
  • Joneses · 1 year ago
It's drivel, and will probably back fire because people are fed-up with this BS economy and want a change and that means they are coming out in droves and the GOP knows this and that is why they are trying to make it "close" so they can try and steal the elections.

As mentioned before, Rev. Warren knows the meaning of green, dollars I mean, it has nothing to do with God.

    AND CONGRATS "HAWKSEYE"!

You guys will have a long and loving marriage.
