    McStupid

Two weeks ago Barack Obama laid claim to the Democratic presidential nomination before a raucous crowd of nearly 20,000 at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul. Last night(June 19), just a few blocks away, his Republican rival John McCain held a much more somber "town hall" meeting with roughly 200 voters.

To a query about health care, from a woman whose son suffers from a chronic disease, McCain offered few specifics. "We put the families in charge, rather than the government," he stated. "If you like government-run health-care programs I suggest you go to Canada or Great Britain."

McStupid's solution to those without health-care is to move to Canada or Great Britain

"If you like government-run health-care programs I suggest you go to Canada or Great Britain."

"Or be like me and scam some disability coverage from the military."

John, when you're on CNN today please don't use the expression "gay marriages" and correct those that do so. It makes it sound like those marriages are different from the marriages of supposed straight people. It sounds condescending and homophobic. The marriages are not "gay." "Gay people are getting married" or something similar is appropriate.
  • Indigo · 1 year ago
. . . or don't sweat it and say "gay marriages." Everybody knows what's meant.
  • Õ¿Õ · 1 year ago
Well, you should not use the term "straight." The opposite of straight is crooked or not right. I agree, words are powerful and we need to use them better like the reich-wing does. Either het or hetero will do.
  • Õ¿Õ · 1 year ago
Uh no, I wont be watching any of that even if I had cable. I will be viewing Rendition with Jake Gyllenhaal and Meryl Streep I picked up this morning.

MTP with first show without Russert in many years will have the simpering Lindsey Graham on today. What a disappointment. Brian Williams apparently couldn't get a repug with brains to show up. Biden should tear Graham up.
  • Õ¿Õ · 1 year ago
Lindsay Graham is one of those rare but effiminate hetero males.
  • Õ¿Õ · 1 year ago
They're very common in the south, though. They're mama's boys and they're hetero. It's a gene or something.
  • Õ¿Õ · 1 year ago
They're called "little goodie two shoes."

This is off topic. I got some emails about my trying to guess why the democrats went with FISA so close to the election and why they and Obama would support it. Some people thought I was in support of the dems cave and I am not.
I wanted to explain how much i hate this thing. I am half french. My family here and family there talk to each other. If we have not already been spied on, we definitely will with this bill. So this FISA thing is very personal to me.
I was only trying to understand why they went along. So, any misunderstandings you have, please know I am not happy about this whole thing. Only trying to look for answers.
I don't like being spied on.
  • Õ¿Õ · 1 year ago
I don't know why you care about what others may say about it.
  • vwcat · 1 year ago
Because I am a caring kind of person! lol.
Actually, I just wanted people to know and felt it would be good to clear it up.

It is interesting what's going on and I want answers, too. Why did Pelosi and Hyoner bring this up now to force Obama to vote on it? It could have been tabled by them until after the election. Seems to me they stabbed him in the back.
  • Õ¿Õ · 1 year ago
Maybe Pelosi and the rest were trying to see that their asses were covered in case of possible future war crimes investigations...

Things that make ya go, hmmm...

Am I the only one left commenting? knock knock knock Is this thing still working?

There should be a law against bloviating on Sundays...
  • Õ¿Õ · 1 year ago
Did the "democratic leadership" know about the torturing before as well as the illegal wiretapping that they did know about, which is against the law? Is that what this is about? So they force this vote now while they still have the votes before November?
  • Õ¿Õ · 1 year ago
Maybe I'm mistaken, but why did Pelosi bring this to a vote when she didn't have to?
  • OlderAndWiser · 1 year ago
Well, a lot of them claimed not to...very strange considering people like us did.

    And these are leaders?
  • Õ¿Õ · 1 year ago
Clearly, this is the reason "impeachment was off the table." I say investigate to where it leads...
  • Õ¿Õ · 1 year ago
Impeachment was off the table but this vote was on the table...

Meet the Press found its sappy ground floor level at last. I had no idea that Tim Ruckert was the lynch pin for the entire bathetic NBC news staff.
    Q. Will NBC ever recover?
    A. Doubtful.
  • Õ¿Õ · 1 year ago
Should the election even matter, at this point?
  • OlderAndWiser · 1 year ago
Sappy, but at the same time, all are jockeying for position...
  • Õ¿Õ · 1 year ago
Ya know, it would be nice to have a system of government with individuals who actually carefully and quietly worked for the interests of the people instead of being about covering thier own asses while lining their own pockets.

    When you're ready, I am...

"this decision is remarkable, because we both committed to public financing"

"this is all about trust, and he just proved to the American public that he cannot be trusted"

John McCain speaking on Minneapolis' local Sunday mornings program KSTP's At Issue.

I'll see if I can find the video.
  • devlzadvocate · 1 year ago
I think John did a good job of putting Preager's same, old, tired argument to rest on Howie's show this morning. Most people now see that story isn't going to bring down a storm of locusts or be the demise of society.

On MTP, I wanted to smack that smirk right off of LG's moonface. He should look in the mirror to find a person that flip-flops and doesn't keep his word!

What's all this about "Champagne Financing?" If Senator Obama wants to finance his own champagne why should John McCain object to that? His wife has been financing his champagne for years, just look at her skin. That's champagne bloat if I ever saw it. And taxpayers shouldn't have to pay for candidate's champagne, especially if it's French.
