I think some of them don't really care if they have viewers or not, if they have value or not ... as long as they get to hear themselves pontificate and get an undeservedly large paycheck.

FYI: C-span will have Karl Rove on as a panelist to discuss picking the next president.

Why would anyone listen to Rove? Just asking...

What is with disqus this morning? It appears to be placing comments all over the place without regard to time.

Does anyone think that the topic of torture and the complicitness of Bush, Cheney, Powell, Rice, et al will come up today. They seemed more consumed with the fact that the poor and middle class have been portrayed as bitter. I am not bitter, I am pissed that we can't even have a discussion about the despair being felt by mosty of America. Senator Obama's comments have again been twisted by McCain, Clinton and the press. This is the grand illusion Americans live with. I talked to the GOP boys at the hardware store and asked them if they thought they were better under Bush than Clinton. There response was expected: "Clinton got a blowjob, Janet Reno killed everybody in the cult in Texas, Hillary killed Vince Foster" and on and on. I asked again how they like $4 a gallon gas, $1 for an orange, $2.99 for a loaf of bread. The answer---its caused by Al Queda. When Americans can't even recognize that they are in a depression, that their futures have been compromised by the rich and that their own government doesn't care for them, then my friends we are lost. Senator Obama made a huge mistake, as Jack Nicholson said--"you can't take the truth".

Interesting responses from the GOPers. Bush along with a Republican Congress and some complicit Dems have just about destroyed this country and yet they don't see it.
  • OlderAndWiser · 1 year ago
lynchie, how can ordinary people understand what's happening economically in the US if they swallow the MSM tripe? You either have to do your own research and turn a deaf ear to the MSM, or suffer your fate because of ignorance. Not a great % of Americans do the former. Otherwise, all the crap that composes the Vast Wasteland wouldn't take.

Educating oneself independently requires more than a Coke and a bag of Cheetos being consumed while laying on the couch watching American Idol. Hell, some people won't even turn on the news and don't have a clue what's happening, period. I mean, who would you have a beer with was the ultimate qualification in 2000 for far too many people.

What's the real % of Americans who actually vote and known what the issues are? Most elections are something of a personality contest for too many people. People in third world countries are more politically astute than most Americans.

OBAMA MAY HAVE NOTICED SOMETHING ABOUT THE 'PENNSYLVANIA WHITE VOTER SYNDROME'
YET, ARE THEY ANGRY, OR IS RACIST AND SUBCONSCIOUS RACIST MENTALITY THE EXCUSE FOR NOT WANTING TO VOTE FOR OBAMA.

One of the great IRONIES IN POLITICS was pointed out by Barak Obama when he pointed out that the PENNSYLVANIA VOTERS ARE 'ANGRY' AT CONDITIONS.

However, THE MEDIA 'RATMOUTHS' AND SNAKES BEGAN TO ATTACK OBAMA BEFORE WE THE PUBLIC COULD PUT THINGS INTO PERSPECTIVE.

The fact is OBAMA IS 100 PERCENT RIGHT WHEN HE TALKS ABOUT 'ANGER,' but is this 'anger' or is it the same old jealousy and envy that manifests itself in racism.

Why then are those WHITE AMERICAN MALES IN THE FAR WEST WHOSE ANCESTORS HAVE BEEN IN THE US LONGER THAN THE 'RECENTLY ARRIVED' ETHNIC WHITES NOT ANGERED AND SUPPORT OBAMA?

Is it because the 'TRUE WHITES' who are mainly of old English background know exactly what Obama is talking about? Is it because they recognize the 'DIVIDE AND CONQUER' SCHEMES that led to the CIVIL WAR, when the PROPAGANDA MACHINE (as today's led by the likes of Roosh Limbugstein, Shorn Conman Conitty, O'really, Savarage, Horrors-wits, Squeal Borktzstein, Wawa Stinkrum, THE SLUDGE REPORT, and the cadre of neo-con facist propagandists ARE IN FACT PLAYING TRICKS AND TRYING TO DISCREDIT THOSE WHO WANT TO PUT AMERICA FIRST BY SAYING THAT WE MUST KEEP OUR BILLIONS AT HOME (NOT TO UNGRATEFUL NATION IN THE MIDDLE EAST WHO REFUSE TO LIVE AT PEACE WITH THEIR NEIGHBORS COSTING THE TAXPAYERS TRILLIONS OF DOLLARS).

The fact is, THERE IS MORE AT PLAY IN PENNSYLVANIA THAN 'ANGER' by some. There is the fact of a certain class of white folks (MAINLY DESCENDENTS OF RECENT PEOPLE FROM EUROPE - AS RECENT AS 100 YEARS or less) who have always turned their noses up at Blacks.

Why then would some of the repubs and clindemocrats think what one Pennsylvania official thought -- THAT WHITES IN PENNSYLVANIA WILL NOT VOTE FOR A BLACK CANDIDATE.

    WHY?

ISN'T IT BECAUSE OF THEIR RACIST, ELITEIST AND BACKWARD MENTALITY?

WHO IS THE ELITEIST IF NOT THE RACE-MONGERING OFFICIALS?

WHO IS RACIST IF NOT VOTERS WHO ALREADY ADMIT THEY WILL NOT VOTE FOR A BLACK CANDIDATE EVEN IF THEY MAY STARVE WHEN THEIR JOBS ARE THROWN TO CHINA BY THE CLINDEMOCRATS OR THEIR SONS SACRIFICED IN THE MIDDLE EAST BY KAINITES?

Here we have RACISM AMONG THAT GROUP OF 'NEW AMERICANS' (that is any of these 'ETHNIC WHITES' whose ancestors came to an America already built over the last 100 years) in the INDUSTRIAL NORTH who will prefer to starve and be driven to poverty EVEN IF THEY WILL VOTE FOR THE SAME PEOPLE WHO ARE SAID TO HAVE SUPPORTED NAFTA AND HAD THEIR MANUFACTURING JOBS SENT TO MEXICO, CHINA AND ELSEWHERE.

Racism among that group is so strong that THEY ADMIT THEY WILL NOT VOTE FOR OBAMA BECAUSE HE IS BLACK -- THEY WOULD RATHER STARVE AND BE DRIVEN TO POVERTY.

That is the issue. That is the problem and that is why MOST OF THE RACISM IN AMERICA TODAY COMES FROM NEWER 'ETHNIC WHITES' AND OTHERS WHO WANT TO PROVE THEY ARE 'AMERICAN' BY DISCRIMINATING AGAINST BLACKS.

And that is why, MOST AFRICAN-AMERICANS REFUSE TO CLASSIFY THESE RECENT NEW-COMERS AS 'WHITE' IN THE SAME WAY WE SEE ANGLO-SAXONS WHO HAVE BEEN IN THE US OVER THE PAST 400 YEARS.

    It's OK.

Russert can't ask intelligent questions anyway.

He just sits there with his stupid grin and lofts the softballs.

GRRRR, I get so pissed off at those guys at Politico. Mike Allen has managed to write a hit piece about Obama's "bitter" that is now being published on Yahoo and god knows where else. Read his 12 reasons, I mean honest to god one of them is because of Huffington Post published the comment, NOT because Hillary took it out of context. The right wing nuts are going to run and run big with this as a continuing attack. Let's see how Obama weathers this. Wright didn't fly with the general public and hopefully the public has more sense than two bit hacks at Politico.

I love it when these rich pundits claim to know how working people are feeling.

Unlike any of them, Obama has worked with laid-off steelworkers.

I trust his grasp of the issue.
  • OleHippieChick · 1 year ago
Who watches this irrelevent, circle-jerky pundit yack.

JAYZ. Sunday Morning show just had a weepy Catholic mom about how her son served as altar boy or something for il popo.

I could only think "Did you have him examined for any unusually stretched-out parts?"
  • OlderAndWiser · 1 year ago
I'm white, female, southern and bitter, esp. about the policies of this regime and those before it that followed the road to perdition, and am voting for Obama. Doing it not just for myself, but for my grandchildren as well. : )

OHC, a report I saw this am said 8 out of 10 catholics like Pope Ratzo's reign.
  • OleHippieChick · 1 year ago
In reply to OAW: JAYZ!!!!! Nothing like choosing ignorance.

I'm bitter for your reasons, OAW, only no kids or grandkids to worry about. Voting for BHO because he may hold a shred of true patriotism the others lost a LOOOONG time ago.
  • Bush_Bites · 1 year ago
By the way, Obama can turn this around very easily, by relating his experience working with the unemployed and discussing the fact that the Repub's run on "God, Guns and Gays" because they won't help working people economically.

I hope he does blow this issue up into a speech. He could turn it around on a dime.

    Bush Bites

I agree, one speech could turn this back into why Hillary and McCain are "out of touch" with common hard working people. I used to be somewhat ambivalent about Hillary, but watching her twist his comment into something evil has made me positively hate the woman.

Sorry, this doesn't pass the smell test.

Many Southern Whites can trace their lineage back to the revolution, yet they're at least as racist as the ethic whites you talk about.
  • lynchie · 1 year ago
Older: I live in rural western Pa. The most important thing to my GOP neighbors is High School Football followed by the Steelers. They look around at all the companies who have moved on and blame the Democrats. They constantly complain about the welfare queens, generations of families on welfare and unemployment and if i dare point out that they have all been unemployed and been helped by the very things they blame the Democrats for their response is, "we deserve it and they don't". You are right, they don't read, they are repeating everything they learned from their parents and grand parents. they vote the same, think the same and are barely able to cover their racism. They constantly proclaim "I don't hate the blacks", except they have never met one, had a coffee with one or ever wondered if we are all the same, trying to scratch out a living while electing the same white, spoiled assholes who could care less about us once they get their free ticket to Washington. I fear that Senator Obama might not get a chance to bring about change. Hillary and McCain will not allow change. Hillary talks about Healthcare, It has been 15 years since she tried when Bill was President. In 15 years she had done nothing. She voted for the war but has never denounced her vote and said, I was wrong, wrong, wrong and i will never do that again. She says she now is opposed to NAFTA, yet her husband and top advisor work for the interests of other countries.
Americans don't ask a damn thing of their elected representatives, partially because of their own laziness but also because contacting and communicating with the Senator or Representative is almost impossible. They don't respond to phone messages, they don't respond to email, they don't respond to letters. They hope (know) that most people just give up and become bitter, yes bitter, and depressed because they just can't get a response. Yes they are lazy, but depression can rob you of motiviation and hope.

Bush Bites, I so agree...every time she's on the tube, I just have to yell out "Corporate Whore!" Actually, I listened to old timers when I was growing up who said, "I'll never kiss anyone's ass to get a job or keep a job."

They knew how the "favor bank" worked...and it's never in YOUR favor.
  • OleHippieChick · 1 year ago
There's bitterness across the board that can't be ignored. Screw the happy face.

"Bitter, bitter, bitter, bitter, bitter" The CorporateMSM is in a lather over this. Guess what, you stupid, mealy-mouthed, overpaid, leechy, self-important, business-loving, misguided, pundit *ssholes, I AM BITTER over the way this country has gone over the past seven years. And so are millions of other Americans.

I'm always amazed at how I can still be amazed at the incompentence and spin of the Corporate MSM.

    Aaaauuurrrrgghhh!!!!

    ----

Don't know whether to laugh or cry at that one.

Must say, though: The laziest people I've ever worked with were always conservatives.

    Not sure why that is.
  • OlderAndWiser · 1 year ago
Well, having lived in Philly for a year in the early 70s, as a southerner I was appalled at the terrible racism I encountered on the job and in my neighborhood. However, when talking one on one with some of my acquaintances, I was able to make them realize: Hey, we're in the same boat! We work in the same factory! We're ALL going to be affected when these jobs go to Brazil (as they were in that period).

I've also found that most working people eagerly agree that when you don't call it socialized medicine, most want a single payer system, along with various other "socialist" remedies for them. Most people take pride in the fact that they are able to provide for their families and are devastated when they can't. Sadly, though, too many have swallowed the myth of "getting rich" by following the lead of their oppressors, and too many still have racist ideas about crime and welfare since that is what the MSM pushes. Black street crime is followed for days, unlike white crime, the same crimes just having a different color. And no one makes the connection between a person's station in life, their educational level, outright discrimination in hiring, housing or any other area, even while whites may be engaged in the same activities as blacks.

Take the case of the "Barbie Bandits" in which the 2 blonde exotic dancer/bimbos, armed with a gun, robbed a bank in cahoots with their black boyfriends (one a teller, one waiting in the car). The black guys got active time of 8-10 years, while one bimbo got probation, and the other 8 months active. Tell me about justice in Georgia..."we're too white and beautiful to spend time in prison."
  • lynchie · 1 year ago
Bush Bites: Rural white people all think they deserve more than anyone else. I live in a farm community. All the farms are dairy farms. Farmer beside me just spent $1.3 million for a new milking shed and 75 more dairy cows but to hear him talk he is just a hair away from the welfare line.
He pays his employees minimum wage with no benefits and thinks he is doing everyone a favor.
Just watching Carville and Matlin with Russert going after Obama. These two blood suckers are the worst of the worst. My hatred for this pair of opportunistic, out of touch has beens is beyond words. Carville pointed out than when Clinton was President he created tons of jobs in Pa. Hey asshole, that was Bill not Hillary and those jobs are long gone. Obama it appears is now apologizing, he should go on the attack and ask Hillary and McCain what they have done for the working poor in Pa. as well as across America. What programs have the institued, did they vote to support Child Healthcare, did they vote to provide better care for our Military, did they support changing NAFTA so it helps America instead of every other country. He should apologize for nothing, because by apologizing he acknowledges they are right and he was wrong in speaking the truth.
  • HereinDC · 1 year ago
So the THIS WEEK panel discuss negatives about Clinton and Obama for 22 minuets and only even speak about McCain in passing for about 35 seconds...

And then Halprin says something like, : With Obamb spending all that money in PA, why isn't he in first place?
( Let;s see,...there are 2 right wing people on the panel and one who is pro Clinton and the other is in the middle)

You can bet no one brought up that Obama 6 weeks ago was over 20 points behind in PA.

What a sham these morning talk shows.
  • mystic · 1 year ago
I think it is unpatriotic not to happy just because your home has foreclosed, or your son was killed in Iraq, or you can't afford to put bread on the table, or you lost your job, or you can't have an attorney to defend you against false accusations. Hillary says so. Come on, buck up and don't be so silly and bitter. Patriotism is more important.
  • aquarius2 · 1 year ago
    here in DC

I just caught a small part of Russert where hatchet face Mary Matlin tried to make the point that Obama is unelectable because he makes unfortunate word choices. She said something like "imagine him facing McCain in the Fall".. Bob Crumm retorted, "Please don't put him in the same class as someone who can't get Sunnie and Shite straight."
  • Mike_G · 1 year ago
I think some of them don't really care if they have viewers or not, if they have value or not ... as long as they get to hear themselves pontificate and get an undeservedly large paycheck.

I call them the Punditry Politburo -- they practically have jobs for life, their only function is as ideological placesetters, never fired for being grossly, disastrously wrong over and over and exhibit about as much intelligence, independent thought and energy as their namesake group.
  • JayWilson · 1 year ago
Can we all agree that Carville and Matalin should be banned from the public sphere? They are both such nasty people (a match made in hell to be sure). They are the living embodiments of what is wrong with American politics. Why do the news shows think that they add anything to a panel - seperately or together?

Jimmy Carter reminded everyone that bitter Ted Kennedy wouldn't shake his hand at the 1980 democratic convention.
you can hear the audio at:

Daschle tried his best to do damage control for Obama, but Mayor Nutter seemed to have the upper hand.

It seems to me that Air America is really anti-american. You seem to twist all the news to fit you agenda. It is disheartening to have americans trashing their own country. You may better be served you the Irac's you support.
