AMERICAblog: SuperDelegates take note

  • bordo · 1 year ago
It's always about the Clintons. Always. Don't you understand? The Democratic Party exists only to serve them and their friends.

Senator Clinton and her entourage are becoming as delusional as W. and his insane cadre of cretins. Her negatives are sky high, particularly among the independent voters needed to win in November. She's virtually broke, having spent millions on dolts like Mark Penn and his company. Her campaign has been a disaster, marked by resignations, hubris, constant turmoil and false notes. Yet she and her backers soldier on. . .perfectly happy to sully the brightest political star to emerge on the American stage in a generation. . .as convinced by the rightness of their cause as the little man from Crawford is of his.

It's really a shame. This is going to end badly and sadly for both Clintons --the senator and the ex-president-- who could've played a critical role in restoring our nation to greatness at home and abroad. Instead, they're increasingly seen as sleazy opportunists willing to say or do anything in the pursuit of power. I can't be alone in hoping a progressive Democrat challenges Hillary in New York during the next primary season.

If she does, and manages to steal the the nomination, she will (1) almost certainly lose, and (2) destroy the Democratic Party. I, for one, will be leaving.

Isn't Donna Brazile the big Democratic Party Lesbian that has crawled back into the closet?
Does her opinion matter in general any more?
And as a super delegate, isn't the kid from Wisconsin just as believable?
What does he have to say?
    This is getting really dull.
  • HereinDC · 1 year ago
Donna is more of a milktoast when she is on the Sunday Morning shows.
  • lynchie · 1 year ago
If Donna is scared come out for one of the candidates. Donna Brazil is another in a long list of Democrats who are on the tit of the DNC. They all live that elitist life in Washington have never been accountable and live their lives so far out of touch with the poor and middle class they can't relate.
She was an advisor for Bill Clinton and for Gore and her opinion is worth less than zero.
  • Ksue · 1 year ago
SPEAK UP, Donna! Why are you still uncommitted?
  • cowboyneok · 1 year ago
Donna Brazile said THAT? Oh my God! SISTER is gettin' SERIOUS! You go girl! Go Donna!

Wow, I'm impressed. She is getting down and dirty for once. I've had some problems with her trying to play too safe. Especially when she is in debate situations, but I'm glad to hear her speaking the hard truths! Now, fellow super delegates and Howard Dean need to LISTEN TO THOSE TRUTHS and SHUT her down! SHUT HILLARY AND CO. down before they have a chance to light the fire for their scorched earth policy.
  • DaveTheAngryRhodeIslander · 1 year ago
She's uncommitted because she's waiting to see who will be the winner - THEN she will commit, as a long-time, fully loyal supporter.

""There's a group around [Sen. Clinton] that really wants to take the fight to the convention."
I believe it. In fact, I think that might be what needs to happen. The longer this goes on, the more I am reminded of the Dixiecrat walk-out from the Democratic convention of . . . um . . . 1947? okay, I don't remember the year but it happened. I was just a little kid then. The Democrats were better off once the Dixiecrats walked away and will be better once again if only the Clintonians will storm out of the convention and stay out. They are not for the people, they are for themselves. That makes them Republicans and that's where they should go.
I welcome a confrontation at the convention.

"Obama campaign reports machines breaking down in Philadephia"

I'm hoping Drudge picks up on this and the story really gets legs. This could lead to actual criminal investigations into the Clintonista political machine. They are not beyond cheating the system as we see Hillary and Slick Willie openly using the same voter suppression techniques as the GOP. I believe Politico.com is also looking into this developing scandal.
  • TampaZeke · 1 year ago
cowboyneok, don't get too happy with Ms. Brazile. Don't forget that SHE is the person at the DNC who pitched a screaming fit when it was proposed to that the DNC have a quota for gay/lesbian state delegates for the convention the way they do for African-American and women. Ms. Brazile went on the all to often heard "the gays are trying to hijack the civil rights movement upon which African-Americans own the exclusive trademark" rant and almost single handedly shot down the proposal.

Donna Brazile is no hero of mine!
  • naschkatzehussein · 1 year ago
Off topic but very important. Some people on the thread of the major story at HuffPo are reporting that some ballots in NE Pennsylvania do not have Obama's name on them. Someone linked a sample. Maybe one of you could get a direct link up on AmBlog and who do we get in touch with?

TampaZeke, regarding your comments, Brazile is herself a closeted lesbian so that may explain her agenda. I don't understand why Donna has delayed endorsing Barack Obama. I find it absolutely disgusting that Billary is trying to game the superdelegate system and buy off individual delegates. She has gone beyond corruption into behavior that is approaching criminal.

not even George Bush or John McCain has said that.

In her case, tho, the primal emotion wasn't rage. It had more to do with the negation of her hitherto prim and proper personality. Large, loud and lusty, she came to revel in her...persona, greatly prefering it to the drab little thing she was in everyday life.

On another post i said a friend of mine in Pittsburgh called and said he and his son voted this morning. Out front were a number of people telling people who to vote for (Hillary). i asked him to phone Bob Casey's office and to phone the police give a time, description of the people and to also ask someone from Casey's office to meet them at the polling station to see if they are still there. Yes they will steal this they, the Clintons, are crooks.

Listen to Bill Clinton's defensive explanation about the Jesse Jackson remark. At the tail end of it, you can hear him talking about "taking Sh##".
    He blames everything on Obama!!!!

Sage24: "Mayor Nutter is not doing his job."

Are you perhaps forgetting the fact that Mayor "Lips" Nutter is a firm supporter of Hillary and thereby as wrong headed as our opportunist Governor Rendel.

The Clintons, both of them, seem almost to go out of their way to prove they are total white trash. So why is anyone listening to whoremonger Bill and his racist liar wife?
  • blackwolf · 1 year ago
Good! My hope is that the superdelegates are just waiting it out so they can "legally" dump the Clinton camp.

    Donna Brazile scares me!
  • AdmNaismith · 1 year ago
Donna Brazile is not uncommited. She's lying when she says that.
  • Bluestocking · 1 year ago
I've said it before and will say it again here -- Clinton and the people in her camp remind me increasingly of the old fable attributed to Aesop about the dog in the manger. They're sending a loud and clear message that they're prepared to give McCain a clear path to the White House if the Democratic Party does not choose her as their nominee. That strongly suggests to me that Clinton not only considers her interests to lie above those of the party, she considers them to be above the interests of the American people. We've had enough problems for the past seven years dealing with a President who has consistently put his own interests and/or those of his supporters ahead of the majority of American people whom he swore to serve...WE DO NOT NEED ANOTHER. Frankly, I'm not confident that we could even *survive* another...

There was a time when I used to disagree with my Republican relatives when they accused Hillary Clinton of being narcissistic and ruthless -- but these days, even though I still don't agree with them on most points, this is one on which I'm prepared to concede and admit that perhaps they were right. Let's face it -- the American people are in desperate need of change, and it seems only too clear that the metaphorical snowball in Hell has a better chance than the American people would have of seeing any change in this country under McCain. If Clinton should decide to battle Obama to the bitter end (say, by choosing to run as an independent) it's extremely likely that this would not only fail to give her what she wants but would virtually ensure a victory for McCain by splitting the party.

    Dear Donna Brazile,
    We don't need another Fear-O.

Grow a spine and commit already.
  • DougStamate · 1 year ago
I completely fail to understand how "wanting to take the fight to the convention" demonstrates that "They don't care about the party." The convention is where the Democratic Party chooses its nominee for president and until the convention chooses a nominee, we don't have one. If I read the numbers correctly, neither candidate, even sweeping all the remaining primaries, will have enough regular delegates for a first-ballot win at the convention. At that point, unless either candidate can sway some of the those regular delegates from their opponent's camp to their own, the decision will have to be made by the superdelegates anyway (it's what they are there for).
I think what scares Ms Brazile and "a lot of superdelegates" so much is that they will have to make a decision that has the potential to seriously anger the supporters of the losing candidate. The party is almost evenly split between the two candidates, but to win in November we need a united party. I'm betting that Ms Brazile is hoping that supporters of the losing candidate will have forgotten much, if not all, of their anger if the decision is made in June or sooner; while, if that decision is put off until August, it may still be too fresh . Apparently she hasn't been reading very many blogs...(snark)
Neither candidate can afford a deadlocked convention. Nor will either candidate commit political suicide by pulling their supporters out of the convention (a la the Dixiecrats on the right and Wallace on the left in 1948). There is nothing for Sen. Clinton to gain by an "independent" run for the presidency. She'd lose and she's smart enough to know that. On top of that, she'd lose any influence she has in the Democratic Party; not something she (or any Democratic politician) would be likely to risk on a losing proposition.
To win in November the Democratic nominee will require the votes of the supporters of both candidates. Should Sen. Obama be the nominee and lose in November and should Sen. Clinton not have wholeheartedly supported his campaign, there is not a chance in Hell that she could get the nomination in 2012. Or anytime. And she knows it. The exact same applies to Sen. Obama should Sen. Clinton be the nominee.
There will be plenty of time for the superdelegates to exercise their franchise If, after several ballots, there is no movement of delegates to one candidate or the other. They can then do what they were designed to do - vote for their choice for nominee for president.
