This is so sad. They are mostly still boys and yet they see no reason for living. I'm curious if the suicide rates were as high durng the Vietnam War.

I don't think they were. This is a strange war! I think our soldiers deep down inside know their 'cause' is stained by an Administration that's unworthy of loyalty. Look at all of the stupid and pathetic things Bush says every time he opens his mouth...and this is an off quote from top Republicans..who wish he would keep his mouth shut.
Bush is pathetic! There's no depth or sincerity in anything he does. He's a bumbling idiot. It's the people that voted for him that really worry me.

There needs to be a constant drum beat on this issue.
1. McCain with his free naval academy education does not want totogive other Vets a similar start in life.
2. McCain has his federally funded insurance while veterans are homeless and cannot find adequate health care.
3. McCain has his rich millionaire wife and turns his nose up at the veterans living on the streets.
McCain is an elitist.

After the criminal trials start for this regime, Rethugs (if there are any left in DC) will have to cooperate with the new Obama administration. They'll be so afraid to even as much fart rightward in the Capitol restrooms...
I really do want heads to roll over this "collateral damage" of the invasion of Iraq. The way the war dead were returned, the state of Walter Reed and other VA facilities, the lack of PTSD diagnosis as well as follow up treatment, the condition of barracks at Ft. Bragg and other places, and of course, the lack of proper equipment, stop loss, forced stays, outright lies to recruit people, making many pay for treatment on return--good grief, the list is endless.
SHAME! Investigate and indict those govt employees responsible for those policies. And let's get rid of the incompetent and criminal private contractors while we're at it and charge them as well.

The whole disregard for the troops, except as backdrops for photo ops, was blatant even before the invasion in Iraq. Following the Gulf War epidemic of Gulf War Syndrome, Congress passed a bill requiring the Dept of Defense to give every military person a complete physical before being deployed into a combat zone. The purpose was to establish a health baseline so that changes in a soldier's health during and after deployment could be compared to the baseline.
Did the Bush Administration follow the law? Hell no, Rummy said there was not enough time. Meanwhile, the troops sat off shore or at various bases and posts for months awaiting the invasion. What criminals these people are. And to think that their Commander-in-Chief falsely claimed that he had to give up golf because it would look bad. Not only are they criminals -- these bastards are nuts.
