She can't last. There's no way. Jeez, every hour or so there's a new development. Just a couple hours ago we learned there are now questions about her potical fund raising, the stud is going to make to the party, she's in hiding, and not talking to the press. How can she survive?
I think she's toast. I give her a 50-50 chance of surviving the day tomorrow. there is simply too much scandal. I am still juggling content at midnight, trying to decide which Palin outrage to post first. It's insane.

I was just thinking "WOW John and gang can't be getting much sleep lately." ooooh Tom Brokaw on countdown said they were using the POW experience as a rational.....
Wow, someone's carting a lot of baggage! I hope we can keep her on the ticket for at least a little longer, this is too much fun!

We will see if MSM covers this with the same enthusiasm they covered Rev. Wright. Somehow I think not.

The Repugs pushing an anti-Semite while catering to the Israeli lobby, they sure are over-confident. Pass the insulin, this is just too too rich. Nemesis is about to put on the show of this century.

They've been hiding her today, but I'll bet we see her smiling face on all the morning shows at 7am. They won't be asking her about her church or the Alaska Independence Party.

we have to be very careful with Palin... she may look out of place or unqualified to us, but to the fundamentalist rightwing christianist base (the GOP that votes) she talks their talk and walls their walk.... being a mother who doesn't believe in birth control DOES qualify her from their POV, because she is a "believer". we will make a fatal mistake if we dismiss her out of hand or make fun of her family. in my part of the country, there are thousands of people like Palin, and they were hesitating over whether or not to vote for McSame. now they have a reason. scary, i know, but it is the reality we have to deal with.

Who cares about the GOP base. McCain has to win the Independents and/or pull Dems to his side if he expects to win. Let the bible thumpers get rilled up, Palin seems to be acting like garlic to a vampire to Independents and those "Hillary Democrats" she was recruited to get.
No matter what we do, remember we live in a country where 30% of the population still approves of our current idiot-in-chief. Some people are just hopeless, for the rest, Palin has a distinctly unpleasant aire about her that is not exactly wowing them...

Oh, I think the base IF energized enough could present a lot of trouble. Remember these are the same folks that elected George Bush TWICE.

The problem is, that a lot of America does not care about Israel or the blatant anti-semitism here. This pastor stood up and criticized a foreign place. Joe and Mary Six Pack do not know any Jews, nor do they particularly care, and they probably wonder why we send all that money and help over there anyway, if they are even aware that we do. And, he is white.
Wright, on the other hand, had the temerity as a black man to criticize America.
Enablers like Lieberman don't help. And so long as the money keeps flowing to Israel, the American Jewish community is not going to be critical and raise a fuss.

OT: CNN is ripping Palin a new one! They are riffing over that canceled interview with McCain over the CNN interview this afternoon.
This is so not what McCain wanted. In the middle of the convention, arguably the most watched cable network is pounding McCains VP choice!

Washington Posts has article that the Palin vetting started late at night THE WEDNESDAY BEFORE THE ANNOUNCEMENT and even then it was not by the head vetter.
Poor decision Poor judgment that should be the rallying call going forward.

Well, now wait a minute. There's nothing singularly wrong with "old white guys". You just don't want to put them together in big groups and give them a lot of power!

Now you know why McShame crashed so many planes, poor performance under pressure. Put his ass in a bind and he will FU every time. And Palin appears to have the same flaw, that and her ass are what attracted McShame. He is right they are soul-mates.

I continue to think that Palin will step down "for the good of her family" and will be replaced by another whacko like Huckabee, Eric Cantor, Pawlenty, etc..... who the base will like and who will not seem so nutso to independents and mainstream voters. I just can't see the Palin sideshow continuing much longer unfortunately.

You know, I keep thinking the same but the longer it goes, it just seems like they are digging a hole they can't get out of...
BarbaraGordon
That's why I think that they will ultimately replace her. The whole convention dialogue (which I admittedly have not watched but have read tons about) seems to be about her. The key is to pacify the base into not staying at home when their princess is replaced. McCain can't win with just the base - not in a year where Obama has brought in so many new voters. Palin is proving to be toxic to attracting new voters to the GOP.

Both this and Palin's 'we went to war in Iraq because God wanted us to', comprise some of the most awful, hatefilled, prejudiced thinking practiced by the GOP. That said, I'm pretty sure we don't want to go there, since they'll just start pulling out all the Wright videos again, and God knows he probably can't keep his mouth shut or face off t.v. (I loved that Obama stood up for him, until Wright started making the news show rounds and knowingly made statments that would serve to harm Obama's campaign.)
The following, rather lengthy reprint of an email from a Wasilla resident contains tons of info we can safely persue without getting our noses bitten off. Palin may be liked, initially anyway, but this email clearly demonstrates Palin's inner viper and the seething cauldron of hate that boils toward her just under the murky surface of Alaskan politics.
I'll give this one a big woohhoooo and a Merry Fitzmas to boot

Most blogs and news services have quoted the same one paragraph of the six-page transcript of the message that David Brickner of Jews for Jesus delivered at Sarah Palin's church, giving the false impression that he is saying that a bulldozer attack by a deranged Palestinian is God’s judgment on the Jewish people. Please read or listen to the entire message for yourself at www.jewsforjesus.org/blog/20080817 so that you can hear Brickner’s remarks in context. Please also take a look at Brickner’s comments concerning his message at Wasilla Bible Church, as well as interviews by Christianity Today and MSNBC with Brickner about this issue, at www.jewsforjesus.org. Among other things, Brickner says, "The comments attributed to me were taken out of context. The notion that the terrorist, bulldozer attack in Jerusalem this summer was God’s judgment on Israel for not believing in Jesus, is absolutely not what I believe. In retrospect, I can see how my rhetoric might be misunderstood and I truly regret that. Of course I never expected the kind of magnifying glass scrutiny on a message where I was speaking extemporaneously. Let me be clear. I don’t believe that any one event whether a terrorist attack or a natural disaster is a specific fulfillment of or manifestation of a Biblical prediction of judgment. I don’t believe that the newspaper should be used to interpret the Bible. The Bible interprets the Bible. I love my Jewish people and the land of Israel. I stand with and support her against all efforts to harm her or her people in any way."
She may not last.
