AMERICAblog: Texas lady is very upset over pro-gay billboard campaign

  • Bose · 3 months ago
It's the second half of the video that creeps me out most.

A purported news org volunteers to mediate competing interpretations of Christian scripture.

    Really?

This counts as journalism in Texas?

    I'm serious... Really?

A friend had a similar reaction:

"I love how the correct procedure for figuring out whether Jesus in fact accepts a gay man in Acts 8:26-40 is not to interview language or theological experts, but instead to ask people to send them email with their opinion."

We report, you decide (what Jesus meant).

Isn't that the way journalism works anymore?

"The Democrats objected when the Senator from Alabama said the moon was made of limburger cheese, but his Republican allies said the attack was purely political. Let us know what you think. On our CNN poll tonight:

    IS THE MOON MADE OF

    ‪‭⌂ LIMBURGER CHEESE

‪‭⌂ SOME OTHER KIND OF CHEESE

‪‭⌂ ROCKS AND STUFF LIKE THAT THERE

    ‪‭⌂ DON'T KNOW

Oh my god, that woman is like a saturday night live spoof of herself. "I cringed, and was disgusted at the same time!"

Wow, how stereotypical could that lady be? Talibangelical much? Since she is so Old Testament, I wonder if she runs to the public square and shouts, "Unclean! Unclean!" whenever she gets her monthly? She is supposed to you know, unless she "twists the scripture to fit her needs."

"When I saw that billboard, I ran into the public square shouting 'unclean! unclean!' and was disgusted at the same time."

And then I went home and dunked a witch in the river. She didn't float.

We should all be so brave. Good for them.

I can understand gay Christians fighting fire with fire, but as far as I'm concerned it's all myth. The Egyptian god Horus and the Hindu-Persian god Mithra were both highly popular in the Roman Empire long before the time of Jesus. Both gods were said to have been born of virgins on December 25th. Both were said to be the sons of God. Both births were proclaimed by angels. Both had to flee their native countries as children to escape the wrath of their king. Both were named "The Lamb of God". Both were said to be saviors of the world. Both had "last suppers" with their disciples. Both offered their bodies and blood to be consumed by their followers. Both were crucified between two thieves. Both rose from the dead on the third day. Both were raised physically into the skies. Both were expected to return again and rule for a thousand years. These are just some of the exact similarities between those two ancient gods and the Christian story. It's all very well documented.

Romans were famous for assimilating the religions of the nations they conquered. Starting 100 years before the time of Jesus the god Mithra in particular was very popular among Roman soldiers. I don't know if the biblical Jesus actually lived, but it is obvious what happened. The Horace and Mithra myths became the Christian myths. And when Christianity became the official religion of the entire Empire, the Christians brutally stamped out the cults of Mithra and Horace, along with the various Christian sects that didn't agree with the authoritarian and anti-humanistic version of Christianity practiced in central Italy.

So people can debate forever about what Jesus thinks of gay people. I really only care about escaping the hatred that so-called Christians keep dumping all over me.
