Yep, I'm embarassed for people that think eating should be a sport, and "their fans"... worse.

I can't help but think of people starving in this Country and in other parts of the World when I see stuff like this. Am I alone or do others feel the same way?

Yes, I think "eating as a sport" should only occur when every mouth is fed. Otherwise, its just plain wrong to make gorging oneself a sport. I wouldn't call it criminal, but its shameful. For instance, I wouldn't be proud of being some sort of champion gorger, I'd be absolutely embarassed to be so tone-deaf.

Hilarious that that tiny lady beat the huge fat guy.

I'm hearing a few negative gripes, but I'm not quite sure why. All over America the same thing is happening, only in slow motion. A great nation celebrates a time honoured tradition.

I believe that's Sonya Thomas, she's a multiple world record holder, including 8.3 pounds of Vienna Sausages in 10 minutes, 8.4 pounds of baked beans in 10 minutes, and about 20 other records..

@Forty2, the reason the little people (Sonya, Kobiyashi, EaterX) beat the big guys is a theory called the Belt of Fat Theory, that all the adipose tissue around a large person's mid-section restricts the expansion of their stomach. There are some large eaters but they don't hold a lot of records.

I know I sound like a shill for the IFOCE but really I'm just a fan.
