AMERICAblog: That about sums it up

  • KarenMrsLloydRichards · 1 year ago
I've had this recurring dream, right here in the middle of the Clinton Administration, that we had two Presidents in a row who were 12 year-olds. One of them was, like, totally into looking at girls' private parts and getting fellated by them. The other was into softball, torturing small animals, and pretending he was a fighter pilot.

Doctor, what does it all mean? It's 1997, and I don't seem to have any hangups or anxieties, but I am so fearful for this country.

It feels that the past eight years were a nightmare. I hurt every time Bush and Cheney kept making horrible decisions, and the kept running the country down to the ground.
I felt angry, frustrated, and helpless, when he sent our kids into Iraq, and when Cheney and he thumbed their noses at the American people, and kept breaking the rules. America made a big mistake when it made these two war criminals their leaders.
They led us over a precipice.

Good grief, Bush talking at a homecoming in Texas; he sounds drunk on his ass.
    MSNBC Hardball
  • grandma · 1 year ago
I saw that too.....thought he was drunk....and Laura nervous, fumbling with her jacket.....
  • An_American_Karol · 1 year ago
His words were all slurred. He reminded me of the drunk best man given the microphone at a wedding.
Did you notice how quickly Matthews cut it off? I want to see Hardball later to see if they edit it out.
  • grandma · 1 year ago
Yep...noticed that.....they cut it off fast with no comment........I've thought Bush had a few drinks in the past a few times....but wow....this time it was so obvious......drunk as a skunk.....and I've never seen Laura looking so nervous....looking around and fumbling with her suit jacket.
  • An_American_Karol · 1 year ago
Yep, drunk as a skunk. What do you want to bet that video disappears, never to be seen again.
It sure explains some of the decisions from the decider.

Laura in Dallas. He'll be in Crawford.

No wonder he's on the bottle.

    Crappiest President in American History.

I am not overtly political...just mouthy on here for fun and enjoy the banter. But, the thought of GWB not being a looming stormcloud over our heads makes me much less depressed.

I was watching MSNBC and decided to skip over to CNN. Geeze what a bunch of Debbie Downers over there at CNN.
They seem to find ALL the negative stories to air.
    I switched back to MSNBC
  • wbw63 · 1 year ago
Did you see that? Just as the LGBA band pulls into view, ABC ends its coverage. Over at Faux, they show it but they long since stopped commenting on the parade and started dissing the Democrats. On CNN, they comment on the band after they're out of sight.
    Jeez!!
  • KarenMrsLloydRichards · 1 year ago
To get ANY attention, they needed to take off their clothes and start sucking each other's . . . faces.
  • SecretScoundrel · 1 year ago
I noticed on CNN and on MSNBC the Gay and Lesbian Band was behind the Howard University Band. Both networks showed Howard but cut from the parade at that point and went to commercial and then to Texas and commentary. After the Gay band had passed they again showed a split screen of the parade.
  • Soundboy_jeff_meanie · 1 year ago
    figures... network tv.

cspan showed it all... and the G&L band got tons of applause, you could actually hear the level go up when they were announced.

of course, they picked a standard marching band song instead of something more... fabu?

I can finally throw away this cover ( http://flagpole.com/Weekly/2004-10-20 ) of the Flagpole! It is great to be rid of that evil, and it sounds so good to say "President Obama" and know it is not a dream any longer.
  • bunny · 1 year ago
I gotta say....I loved the crowd singing "Na, na, hey, hey....goodbye" at the sight of Bush....
    priceless.
  • BLOGGING BITCH! · 1 year ago
So...Bush is still claiming that he had to make tough decisions regarding manufactured issues?

That's strange. Making the CIA swear that Saddam was trying to get yellow cake from Niger (and killing 4500 soldiers over it) sounds illegal to me.

Why isn't that an impeachable offense, Nancy?

MSNBC saying Michelle Obama still not sure what she's wearing for the Inaugural Ball...hah...I love it !!

Since ABC has an exclusive deal to broadcast tonight's Neighborhood Ball -- where Barack Obama will give remarks, and the Obamas will have their first dance -- other networks have been in discussions to air parts of it live, citing the news value.

"ABC Entertainment has lifted the embargo on Obama's remarks at the Neighborhood Ball," said a spokesperson, in a statement to Politico. "The feed will be available to everyone real-time. The restriction on the use of everything else, including the first dance still stands."

suddenly, I feel hope... got another song in my head :-)

    Don't worry, about a thing,
'Cause every little thing, gonna be alright.
Singing don't worry, about a thing,
Cause every little thing, gonna be alright

    Rise up this mornin',
    Smiled with the risin' sun,
    Three little birds
    Pitch by my doorstep
    Singin' sweet songs
    Of melodies pure and true,
Saying, this is my message to you-ou-ou

okay, no changes yet... but I do feel like I can start to be proud to be an American again.

    its been so long.

'...why a man whose father less than sixty years ago might not have been served at a local restaurant can now stand before you to take a most sacred oath..' - did you FEEL the wave go through the throng when Obama said this? it was just amazing - and I'm watching it 3000 miles away. We started dancing at 3 p.m. Greenwich Mean Time when we watched cheney leave the White House in his wheelchair - obviously he'd been at the paper shredder too long the night before. To anyone who tells me 'oh Obama's not going to be able to fulfil all his promises' I say 'You're right, what a shame - just think, we could've been watching Sarah Palin being sworn in as Vice-President today' - that shuts them up quick.
  • Soundboy_jeff_meanie · 1 year ago
    LOL... the paper shredder :-)

ya know, my Husband is in England... and I mentioned the exact same thing when he mentioned cheney in the wheelchair!

of course, he was also watching the ceremonies.

I think there are a lot of happy people around the world today.

Dream? No. For me it's all been way too real. Real death . . . real destruction . . . real desecration of our cherished values. I do feel elated, almost giddy. But it's the elation of being fortunate enough to have survived a horrible degrading experience.

I have to agree. I know Obama is not a real progressive and will betray us (he already has on several major issues), even though we're the ones who put him in office, but after eight years of the village idiot he's a vast improvement. It's sad that this is what we've come to.

Obamatherapy! I feel more safe and less angry already.

But just a little bit. It will take me years to recover from my Post Traumatic Bush Syndrome.

After eight years of Bush it is so nice to once again have a President who is more intelligent that the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court.

Roberts: "I, Barack Hussein Obama do swear solemnly...

Obama: "I Barack Hussein Obama do solemnly swear ....

Roberts: "...to do my duty to God and my country.....

Obama: "...that I will faithfully execute the office of President of the United States....

Roberts: "... to help other people at all times....

Obama "...and I will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect, and defend...

Roberts "...and to obey the Scout Law."

Obama "...the Constitution of the United States."
