OT:
Slowly but steadily, a string of Democratic Party figures is taking Barack Obama's side in the presidential nominating race and raising the pressure on Hillary Clinton to give up.
Sen. Amy Klobuchar of Minnesota is expected to endorse Sen. Obama Monday, according to a Democrat familiar with her plans. Meanwhile, North Carolina's seven Democratic House members are poised to endorse Sen. Obama as a group -- just one has so far -- before that state's May 6 primary, several Democrats say.
Helping to drive the endorsements is a fear that the Obama-Clinton contest has grown toxic and threatens the Democratic Party's chances against Republican John McCain in the fall.
There is no such thing as OT when it comes good news about new endorsements for Barack Obama by Superdelegates!
This is great news -- really! :) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

If you're paying attention, it's about one per day, with no superdelegates endorsing Clinton in the same time period.
It's almost as if the Democratic leadership...who said that they would try to wrap this thing up...have planned these endorsement releases to try to force Hillary to wrap it up...

With attention focused on the Democrats' infighting for the presidential nomination, Senator John McCain is maneuvering for the spotlight. But as he looks ahead to the general election, he has yet to sign up one critical constituency: the big-money people who powered the Bush fund-raising machine.
According to the Minneapolis Star Tribune it's official :
Minn. Sen. Klobuchar endorses Obama for president
In a statement, Obama says he's grateful for Klobuchar's support. According to the Obama campaign, Klobuchar is the 64th superdelegate to endorse him over rival Hillary Rodham Clinton since the Feb. 5th Super Tuesday contests.
Klobuchar, a freshman Democrat, says in a statement provided to The Associated Press that Obama has "inspired an enthusiasm and idealism" that the country hasn't seen in a long time.
She calls Obama "a new kind of leader," who brings a new perspective and inspires excitement among Americans.
Where are all the Clinton supporters like Henry2008 when poor ol' Hillary needs them? Put up the $$$$ all you Clinton ass barnacles or shut up.
By the way, I would not blame you any Clinton supporter for not contributing. What person in their right mind would contribute to Hillary's campaign at this point?

WASHINGTON -- Housing and Urban Development Secretary Alphonso Jackson is expected to announce his resignation Monday, according to people familiar with the matter, a decision that will deal a blow to the Bush administration's efforts to tackle the housing and mortgage mess.
this may be the real reason she's staying in the race - to try to recoup her $$ losses

Oh, no -- say it isn't so! -- as if the Bush Crime Family capos were ever really going to tackle the housing and mortgage mess...except, of course, to bail out the culprits who created it.
Consequently, HUD Secretary Alphonso Jackson’s departure is just another Bush Crime Family rat deserting the sinking ship. Or, maybe he's hoping to avoid indictment for serial and multiple crimes committed while in office by slinking out the door before congress can catch him -- and, frankly, the Dems in the House and Senate haven't been looking very hard or they might have done something to avert the current mess.
When it comes to the housing and mortgage mess, Katrina Rules apply -- Bush makes speeches and pronouncements of all the wonderful things he and “his team” are going to do to fix the problem whereupon they do absolutely nothing and ride out the clock to January 2009. It's a pattern.

Fake Reform:
Anyone who has worked in a large organization — or, for that matter, reads the comic strip “Dilbert” — is familiar with the “org chart” strategy. To hide their lack of any actual ideas about what to do, managers sometimes make a big show of rearranging the boxes and lines that say who reports to whom.
You now understand the principle behind the Bush administration’s new proposal for financial reform, which will be formally announced today: it’s all about creating the appearance of responding to the current crisis, without actually doing anything substantive.......
............The administration, then, has learned nothing from the current crisis. Yet it needs, as a political matter, to pretend to be doing something.

Also we need to change the corrupt superdelegate system and get rid of it once and for all. I've been told that it was designed by Bill Clinton (no surprise) back in the 90's to secure cronyism and enable him and Hillary to buy off votes. The Clinton legacy is now surely one of dispicable corruption, deceit, bribes, and a ravenous pursuit of power. It wasn't surprising at all when the youngest Clinton, Chelsea, followed right in her hag mother's bitter partisan sniping by snapping at an innocent question because she thought it insuted the Clinton dynasty. Give me a break, the Clintons are scum.

Thus, in a draft of a speech to be delivered on Monday, Henry Paulson, the Treasury secretary, declares, “I do not believe it is fair or accurate to blame our regulatory structure for the current turmoil.”
And sure enough, according to the executive summary of the new administration plan, regulation will be limited to institutions that receive explicit federal guarantees — that is, institutions that are already regulated, and have not been the source of today’s problems. As for the rest, it blithely declares that “market discipline is the most effective tool to limit systemic risk.” The administration, then, has learned nothing from the current crisis. Yet it needs, as a political matter, to pretend to be doing something. http://www.nytimes.com/2008/03/31/opinion/31kru...

I suspect this issue was subtley addressed when Senator Obama said on Saturday "She should be able to compete, and her supporters should be able to support her for as long as they are willing or able," (http://afp.google.com/article/ALeqM5jBaiYA1TV_h...) Emphasis on the "they are willing or ABLE" part. Her cash is clearly drying up. Obama can politely encourage her to continue her campaign knowing quite soon she won't have the resources to make a run for dog catcher. I'm in agreement with some of the other commentators. At this point it's seems likely Clinton is as much trying to recoup her Five Million dollar "loan" as she is trying to run for President.

Speaking of the elections... major newspapers still have Hillary as the winner in Texas, on their election maps, and in the delegate count. Everyone should contact the editors of major newspapers and ask them to make a correction in order to accurately report the results of the Texas primary.
The NYT has it wrong, for example.

8.7 million. What a waste! I could be basking in the sun on Key West and living comfortably in a sweet two story villa there for that kind of money. Modestly, you understand, but comfortably. So there you have it, life is not fair! On larger matters, HIllary's failure to pay her bills goes along with her failure to pay her (moral) debts. Those of us who were watching back in 1992 when Hubby Bill pulled the "don't ask don't tell" swindle on his gay backers are not surprized. That's how it works with the Debtbeat Politicos. And on a corollary note, this money crunch could be a signal about why the Big Money Support (where are they now?) put out that blackmail letter to Pelosi, support Hillary or loose the cash. Well, um, see, fellows and ladies, you're closing the cash drawer on your Hillary and threatening to close the cash drawer on the Democrats in Congress . . . um . . . pondering, pondering . . . you see, the hidden event here is THE BIG SPENDERS ARE OUT OF MONEY. Now that's funny!

A friend who used to be in the radio biz told me this story over the weekend. (Note that I have not been able to verify this, and this is a "friend of a friend" story.)
A buddy still working at a radio station in Texas told him of the problems he had with the Clinton campaign. In the world of radio advertising, it is standard that politcal campaigns pay for primary ads upfront, before they air. The stations insist on this because of the chance that a campaign could go under without paying them. Before the Texas primary, the Clinton campaign contracted for some ads. The ads arrived on disc--but without the required payments. The friend immediately called the campaign. The people he talked to insisted it was an oversight, and it would send both checks right away. Only one check arrived. So, the friend ran only 1 of the ads. When the campaign later asked for documentation that both ads were ran, he informed them that he ran only the ad that they paid for.
Now whether this is a case that the campaign hoped that the ads would be run without payment upfront, or proof of a sloppy management team, I don't know.

Their cautionary tales, combined with published reports about similar difficulties faced by a New Hampshire landlord,
