Don't visualize a Landslide Punitive Election...

    ...until after you Vote.

What they did not take into account is that Obama supporters want a high vote turnout for a mandate. That is why an Obama supporter will stand in line as long as it takes to vote.
  • JohnRJ08 · 1 year ago
I'm not so sure. I get the feeling that the Obama camp is very worried that if the election is close at all that the Republicans will find a way to steal it, just as they did in Florida in 2000. I'm sure that at this very moment Karl Rove operatives are meeting in smoke-filled rooms discussing which areas of the country are most vulnerable to some kind of dirty tricks at the polls. Obama probably feels that the only way to win the election is to win by a wide majority that cannot be questioned. Smart from beginning to end.

For a break after the election, Obama should stop by California and dare Gov Arnold Swartzenegger to a quarter mile foot race around a track at some local university. I'm betting the Skinny Legs will beat the pants of the Manly Man.

Donate the winnings to their favorite charities .... ACORN vs Arnold's ??

I'm really appalled that Arnie endorsed McCain. I mean, I know he's a "Republican" but for God's sake he is opposed to Prop 8, how can he be for McCain? He should have just sat this one out and not endorsed anyone. It's not like California is going to switch to Red...

Just talked to my grandson...he registered and voted for Obama. He turned 18 on 9/19 and grandma bugged him...

But earlier today, saw some codgerly looking guys setting up a pickup/camper in front of the local BBQ joint that was plastered with McCain/Palin and "Nobama" signs...typical for this area. They send out the fascists when they know they're losing.

Early voting is until 5 this pm. Gov Easley (Dem) pushed the time up from 1 pm to give more people time.

I'm giving up on the word "fascist" and saying "Aryan Nation" instead. They know what that one means and . . . well, they don't have a whole lot of deniability when I put that way. Ya know?

Responsible conservatives should urge the Republican Party to cease operations and promptly disband after the election.
  • Fireblazes(CheetohsandCatfood) · 1 year ago
Mittens was in Farmington Nm today. To put that in perspective they sent someone to an area they had declared safe. A majority repub county with a lock on county power. I did not see him but the people at the rally just seemed to be standing around as opposed to the Dem rally last friday where people waved signs and waved at people.

O/T, Sarah Palin thinks we are at war with Iran

Palin: Ok, we're confident that we're going to win on Tuesday so from there, those first 100 days, how we're going to kick in the plan that will get this economy back on the right track and really shore up the strategies that we need over in Iraq and Iran to win these wars...

    We tried war heroes,
    We tried business tycoons,
    We tried religious zealots,
    We tried oil barrens,
We even tried 2-bit Hollywood actors...

Can we all vote for the Constitutional Professor now, please?

Let's give the really-frickin' smart guy the wheel for 4 years and just see what happens!

    Just askin'

I can't see the Obama supporters not showing up to vote because of over confidence. If anything, this is an historic election, and I, for one, am of the belief that if you are voting for the first black president ever in the United States, you would want to say years from now, "yeah, I voted in that election for Barack Obama."
  • houstonray · 1 year ago
Good point! I have watched some local tv coverage of the long lines we had here (in Houston) and that seemed to be a recurring theme, while most would not say who they voted for (and I don't think a reporter can "ask" anyway), the general reply was "this is such an historic election, I want to be part of it".

I doubt "historic" applies to McCain voters (what, the oldest guy ever elected? The most unqualified VP candidate ever?)

Yes, my guess is history is on OUR side with this one...

Watching MSNBC right now. they just had video of Obama trick-Or Treating with his daughter yesterday. Right off the bat I thougt to myself that the fundies would have a field day with that, accusing Obama of being into paganism and witchcraft. So imagine my surprise to see Sarah Palin also trick-Or_treating with her daughter. Now coming from a fundamentalist christian household, I know that Halloween is frowned on for the reasons i stated. So i'm wondering if Palin didn't just commit a goof seeing as how the fundies are pretty much her base.

Further evidence of the dispirited Rs. By midweek in Oregon 49% of Ds had returned their ballots, and only 41% of Rs. Bearing in mind Ds already outnumber Rs by more than 10%.

I have been predicting that enthusiasm would be a big factor for some time, even before Palin's appearance on the scene. With the exception of the Republican convention, McCain has attracted relatively small crowds.

I don't think the election is going to be as close as the polls make it out to be. McCain's not that inspiring, and I think many of his old supporters like Hagel are frankly ashamed of his poor behavior. Frankly, if Obama had behaved that way, I wouldn't have voted.
  • vkobaya · 1 year ago
Due to the extreme long lines at polling places and the inability to accommodate all voters, election officials have decreed that Democrats vote on Tuesday and Republicans will vote the following day, on Wednesday.

Apparently Obama even has the Peruvian Shaman vote. Cool!
