AMERICAblog: “The insinuation from the Obama campaign that John McCain, a former prisoner of war, cheated is outrageous"

  • tardigrade · 1 year ago
Wait a minute.... you have to consider Mcsame's age!
    He needed a little help.
He IS MUCH older then Obama.
One should help the infirm. He might not have answered any questions without help.
  • Soundboy_jeff_meanie · 1 year ago
    right... :-)

forget about questioning his military record (which, nobody has done... but we're constantly accused of doing).

his age and general infirmity should disqualify him from leading the United States as President.

the man is pretty much senile... and THAT makes a good President?

c'mon America... we've had a chimp in charge for 8 years, do we really want to jump from a chimp to someone that needs to be told what year it is on a regular basis?
  • Joneses · 1 year ago
I think most people are not buying it. It's old news and it's tiresome. McCain is not bright, and I don't want this man near the button.
  • tlsintx · 1 year ago
If John McCain, Former Prisoner of War, expects to be exempted from all the rules on that basis alone, he's fucking stupider than I thought.
  • jr · 1 year ago
"how dare Carol McCain claim John divorced her"-corporate media
  • uwyoalum · 1 year ago
Not that it is necessarily a bad thing for a prisoner of war to do, but doesn't being a prisoner of war TEACH you to lie and cheat?
  • Mike_H · 1 year ago
Yes, I think this is one of the things we have to look forward to for the next three months. It's a meme that plays too well with the rightwingers and the "My country right or wrong!" crowd.

No, I don't think the corporate media will call McCain on this.

Hopefully, I will be proven wrong. But I'm not holding my breath.

POW's and expecially former POWs have super human mystical powers that the rest of us can't imagine, and as such have no need to cheat because they are so far beyond the rest of us. Its completely believable that McCain was a fan of Dancing Queen by ABBA during his time in the Vietnamese prison even though ABBA had never performed the song until a couple of years after he returned home, because after all he had these mystical powers.

I bet Obama wishes he said to Warren: " I didn't see John McCain back there"

Want to bet Obama will take the gloves off now?

    Warren played you Barack.
  • SouthernYankee · 1 year ago
Hell it didn't take a rocket scientist to know Obama was walking into a republican crowd. Warren believes that McCain didn't lie. Of course he would he is a freakin republican bibile thumper. Ah, there I said it Warren now what you going to do. You let McCain lie and get away with it.
  • jescot · 1 year ago
I cant wait to haev Biden the VP choice ! While he might have some baggage of his own ..he is a smart SOB and a tough SOB that will happily go on every tv show and be a bulldog for OBAMA!! I hope he says "mallarky and bullshit "all the time talking abouy the republicans !

That is who I voted for in the primary. I do think he would be a good one. The only thing is sometimes he goes off topic and talks forever. But I do think he has a wit about him.

Its a legit excuse because Sean Hannity blathered it. Hey Sean, if McCorpse runs someone over with a car is it OK to excuse it based on his POW status?
  • bill__free · 1 year ago
Is it true that McCain knew Methuselah personally?
  • Steve_in_CNJ · 1 year ago
They were never formally introduced. But he still remembers stories told to him by Lucy when he was a child traveling in Africa.
  • Soundboy_jeff_meanie · 1 year ago
the untold story is how Lucy wound up in the gorge in the first place... mccain has always liked to push people.
  • ron071 · 1 year ago
It has become sickening to constantly use the past shoot-down and capture of McCain as an excuse for any and all lies and errors. This is the first time in history that a candidate has waved his POW status in the face of voters to give him a pass on everything. How else can you sell Bush gain to the American people?

WANT MORE PAIN ????????VOTE McSAME !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • HereinDC · 1 year ago
Wanna bet Warren cancels his appearance on Larry King?
  • Steve_in_CNJ · 1 year ago
I would take him more seriously if he could prove he got shot in the ass.
  • scottinsf · 1 year ago
I admit, I haven't read much on this (non)story. It does appear though that most of the cheating allegations are coming from the blogosphere, not the Obama camp.

I know I'm tired of hearing all the whining coming from the McCain camp but imagine how the general public is starting to feel.

    Keep sniveling McCain.

How many people out there start off their conversations with other people by telling them the worst thing that has ever happened to them in their life and isn't there a word or diagnosis for this when someone uses a tragedy to get sympathy from others even embellishing on the tragedy.

McShame cooperated with the Vietnamese while he was a captive. Breaking under pressure of torture is a given, everyone has a breaking point. But McShame made propaganda films and gave interviews while he was a prisoner, many other POWs consider McShame a piece of shit traitor. He topped that by shutting down the efforts of POW/MIA families to force Viet Nam to provide all available information before the US reestablished relations with Viet Nam. Using his POW status as a reason for respect is McShame version of Chimp's claim that he was a hero because he deserted.
  • Mikki --SE Pennsylvania · 1 year ago
Most people call that COLLABORATIONand its not considered very nice.
McShame may be a POW, but he IS NOT A war-hero no matter how much he has tried to polish that image and wrap himself in the flag.
This is a whole area which the MSM has to expose and some are slowly starting to do it. The public is nopt going to stand by while the RNC and the McBush3 campaign staff keep trying to shovel the shit as with Dubya. The public may be stupid; they are not all that stupid!
  • barry3f · 1 year ago
to paraphrase sen. biden.......all mccain sentences include a noun, a verb, and 'former pow'
  • dommyluc · 1 year ago
The public is going to get sick of his POW dodge really fast. Military experience was turned against Kerry quite effectively, and McCain's POW story is getting old as we speak. It is time to crush John McCain.
  • chuckypita · 1 year ago
Ha! John McCain is Elmer Fudd. Seriously, the guy is an absolute "which way did he go George"? kind of guy.

Insinuating a prisoner of war would cheat is outrageous? But senator didn't you yourself admit cheating on your first wife after being a prisoner of war? Are only certain forms of cheating "outrageous?"
  • Ereshkigal · 1 year ago
In fact, the "former prisoner of war," after his release, cheated on his wife, and cheated during the Keating Five Scandal. I know, it's not "nice" to mention these things, but ...

    You could mention these instead:

Lied about supporting campaign finance reform.
Lied about removing lobbyists from his campaign.
Lied about supporting a MLK holiday.
Lied about Obama's proposed tax plans.
Lied about sending letters to the FCC supporting media mogul Lowell “Bud” Paxson's radio acquisition plans.
Lied about supposedly consistent revenue reductions following tax increases.
Lied about supporting veterans and active troops.
    Lied about his energy votes.

    There's a little start...
  • JamesR · 1 year ago
In fact the experience of being a POW equipped him well to do this.

When he made those propaganda tapes for the enemy he was surely "lying" but he did so in a greater cause, that of personal survival at least, perhaps as a bargain for some relief for his fellows. We'll never really know.

But we do know he LIED then, and has some tortured, so to speak, logic no doubt justifying it as "honorable."

I can easily see a short jump, using the same logic, that it is OK to lie in combat with his opponent if it is in the sake of a greater "good" and it would be 'honorable.'

It's the same process he endured as a POW - except in reverse. He is holding us, the process, and the agenda set via the 'media' captive and he's torturing the truth.
