If you've been at all alert to the primaries and the presidential campaign thus far you can vote tomorrow because enough has been revealed to cast an informed, intelligent and correct vote. Now, to create news, much is being put forth to cloud the picture and so keep the pundits of the MSM ocupied until the conventions. The picture is quite clear. The choice is ( more )another disaster or some chance at starting an American recovery.

Psychological warfare is the key phrase. Search it, and review the techniques and you will see its coordinated use in the US media. This nation is being attacked by a psyops and disinformation campaign. This was originated under Regan for domestic covert propaganda... search that term "domestic covert propaganda" - you'll find evidence of it that was covered up during the regan years. It rules our airwaves and media. It is funded by the some 9 billion dollars that are conveniently missing from the Iraq war funds.
That's 9 million milion dollars to silence any voice that doesn't behave... it is a right-wing war on America. There is 9 billion dollars to put McCain in power under the same team that elected Bush.

Obama is also offering a psychological lift with his campaign message of change that is long on feel-good and short on substance (or at least the substance we first thought we heard from him).
Recently he has shown that he isn't our savior, which works out pretty well since this dumbed-down, religion-soaked country isn't ready for a savior. Instead, his will most likely be an interim government that will start the process of turnaround and that's no small accomplishment. If we can effectively fight the Right's sycophant newz media which will try to hobble his efforts, then we will see improvements in our healthcare delivery system, in the quality of our schools, in protections of our food and water and air, in gaining at least some independence on foreign oil, in business regulations, in our world image, on and on, and then in another 4 or 8 years perhaps the leader we hoped for now will come along and his/her load won't be as heavy as will be Obama's.
Reality has replaced my earlier enthusiasm for Obama, but that is balanced by a certainty that McCain must not be elected. With Obama we will see a psychological lift based on actions and results, even if they fall far short of what is actually needed.
Regardless whom he chooses for VP and opposite my initial reaction to his latest disappointments, Obama will have my campaign $ support and my vote.
Anything less is idiocy. And doom.

What if he chooses Hillary as his VP, Mirth? You still on board? What about his unequivocable support of Israel? Faith based initiatives? 22 week denial of abortion rights? Support of telecom immunity? Is there any one of your tenets that you aren't willing to cave on?
mirth
Absolute support of Israel is different than support of Israel, as Obama explained his "faith-based" initiatives I'm not too troubled with it, Obama does NOT support denial of abortion after 22 weeks, his statement regards his FISA vote offers some hope that he will use his presidential powers to curtail privacy intrusions.
This election is too vital to only consider only a few issues, no matter how important they are, and ignore other crucial issues. Even if he disappoints in some areas, there are other equally important areas where he can bring huge improvement. And there is also the hope that we citizens are gaining our voice in holding Obama to Democratic principles.
Yes, even if the VP is Hillary, I will support and vote for him.

Sounds like you think his move to the right is phony. So, OK, throw whatever liberal principles you have overboard and vote for him. But, don't be surprised when he actually turns out to be to the right of McCain. I wasn't going to vote for McCain because he's a weasel. However, I should probably re-assess that position. Black churches are notoriously ideological. I think Barack's split from Rev. Wright is as phony as his support of Israel.
mirth
Whoa. Don't transfer your perception of Obama to me.
I'm not throwing any of my Liberal values away. His move isn't to the right, it's to the center. I see Obama as a politician trying to get elected in a nation of lazy, uninformed, religion-soaked dimwits, not as a phony. As I wrote above, my support for him is because he's the best we got and if he falls short of MY liberal values, I believe he will make a good interim president if he doesn't live up to all of our hopes for him to be a truly great president.
It is simply lunacy to believe Obama is now or will prove to be to the right of John McCain. Absolute nuttery, that.
And what church isn't "notoriously idealogical?!"
And what does his relationship with his former minister have to do with anything?

Wow, you've been overlooking a lot of important stuff. Plus, you believe his move to the "center" is phony. You've made a political choice. I think that's the smart thing to do. It rarely works out; but the only thing to do. Not many 'good' choices left.

It should scare you shitless that someone like McCaine is running for the most powerful office in the world and as president he hasn't got a clue as to what is happening at the street level with regard to peoples financial problems. Worse, he surrounds himself with self serving, bloviating idiots like Phil Gramm who was more interested in cutting fat financial deals with foreign banks likes UBS that are teetering on insolvency. Yeah, it's all in our heads. It's a mental thing. Tell that to the millions that go to bed hungry every evening, or tell it to the elderly who have to decide daily whether to take medications or eat. We as Americans should be sick to our stomachs when people like McAsshole and his economic guru start blaming you for their fuck ups, their lack of oversight on their watch. More and more that old saying " Let them eat cake" comes to mind when thinking of Rethuglican economic objectives. Too bad we don't have use of that very effective device known as the guillotine as it might be kinda fun watching a few heads roll down Pensylvania Avenue.
Gawd knows Wolfie is usually infuriating, but he gets props on this one for holding Sanford's feet to the fire. What a blundering idgit!

Andrew, the people who aren't paying their bills are the idiots who took out $300,000 loans on $150,000 houses. If something like your gasoline bill triples and you can't hack it? Then, you were in way over your head to begin with. I just got my $1200 stimulus check. That's the equivalent of the USA subsidizing my gasoline bill by a dollar a gallon for the year. What do you want Obama to do? Free pablum for everyone?
Andrew
That's dumb busboy. You got $1,200 of make believe money that's going to help you off set your gasolene expenses. The only major problem being that the more worthles money your Republican administration prints, the higer your gallon of gas becomes. So in the end you lose what little advantage you may have had. You'd be better off investing your $1,200 in gold and or silver. What Obama needs to do is either bring back high aying jobs to America or allow for the creation of new industires that will put peopl to work, increase the tax base and bring prices down rather then our currently sending over 700 billion a year to the Middle east oil pumpers.
Busboy

Oh, yeah, we could allow companies to drill for our own oil, put windmills off Martha's Vineyard and build refineries and nuke plants. But, that's not part of Obama's gameplan. He wants to go to Iran and make some kind of pact with Ahmadinejad. I'm sure he'll let us know how swimmingly things are going once he gets in office.

As for George F Will, he should know that unemployment is a lagging indicator. Just because it' only 5.5%, does NOT mean we're not in a recession. It will be six months behind the current economy. I wonder what F Will is smoking in his pipe this time. Do we need another depression before enough wake up?

I make less money now than when Bush took office. All my expenses (rent, utilities, etc) are considerably higher. That is not my imagination. I realize that technically the country is not in a recession by my personal negative growth is very real. The truth is that there are a LOT of people in the same situation I am and a lot of those people voted for Bush in the last two elections (I did not). Telling people they don't have a problem when they obviously do is a sure fire way to piss them off. I am bigtime pissed but then I always knew Graham was out of touch with reality.
