AMERICAblog: The next bailout: Sallie Mae?

  • LeslieB · 1 year ago
This has been an oncoming train wreck for years. Surprised we're not hearing about Freddie Mac too.

How interesting to learn that the expression "train wreck" is a technical term in government economic theory. What does Allen Greenspan and his long-gone mentor, Ayn Rand, have to say about "train wrecks"?

Education bailout??? I thought the economy was doing so well for the white collar kids?

Far be it from me to inject some reality into the hyperbole, BUT:

Because of the credit lock up, Sallie Mae can NO LONGER make a student loan for a profit. It costs more for them to borrow the money than the interest rate given to students.

Call it a bailout, call it whatever, but if you think student loans are a good thing then someone needs to step in and help.

How all these bailouts help the peoplethat owe the money to the corportations?

As an American I don't mind paying my student loan off. But why should my family go without, at 8% interest payments, when billionaires are being made by underhanded legal means and nothing is being done about it. Either even the playing field or expect caos.
