the problem is that the people with the $'s are still funding these right-wing wackjobs. When the money dries up, so will they.

Bigot mormons yes, but lets not forget the filthy catholics, John, they are already circling the wagons against Obama (the kathy licks that is) on his abortion stance and soon will bring up the gay issue. Its time to go after all the religions in this country and demand the seperation of church and state.

uhhh that's kind of small minded there greensburg. Just for a little anecdotal evidence, my mother is a converted Catholic (read: she's a Catholic because she really believes in the faith), and she actually rounded up all her friends and went down her contact list name by name to get people to vote for Obama, whom she's personally met and thoroughly believes is the best choice for people who actually believe in the Catholic ideals rather than just talk the talk. I'd further say that she's not alone. Please retract YOUR bigotry kthx.

Green - "filthy" is a bit of a stretch. My mom is catholic and she's as progressive as they get. Save "filthy" for rePIGs, nobody would argue with you on that point.

Now be fair, most Catholics bathe regularly. True enough, they tend to tolerate bigotry and many are often advocates of it. Once in a while, there's a sincere and prayerful one. It makes you wonder why they tolerate the masquerade of hypocrites around them. Carnivale, perhaps.

the Republican party is not dead. McCain got 46% of the vote after all. Just because the Democrats are on top right now, doesnt mean they will be on top forever. 1994 is a good example.

Republicans will come back eviler and more desperate, and thats when they are truly dangerous. We have seen what they do with power, and we can NEVER let them have it again.

    Just Announced
California Supreme Court To Review Prop 8
The state of California officially asked the California Supreme Court on Monday to review the constitutionality of Proposition 8, passed by voted earlier this month.

The proposition bans marriages between homosexual couples.

“The profound importance of the issues raised by Proposition 8 warrants that this matter be reviewed and promptly resolved by the California Supreme Court,” says California Attorney General Edmund Brown Jr.

In a set of briefs filed with the court today, Mr. Brown wrote that: “review by this Court is necessary to ensure uniformity of decision, finality and certainty for the citizens of California. The constitutionality of the change created by Proposition 8 impacts whether same-sex marriages may issue in California and whether same-sex marriages from other states will be recognized here. There is significant public interest in prompt resolution of the legality of Proposition 8. The Court can provide certainty and finality in this matter.”

Let's hope BCU. On its face any 1st year Law student can see that Prop 8 is unconstitutional - to wit, the state would have to show a substantial burden of the highest order to deny civil rights to a minority. What's the burden?

I can see it now. But your honor, if Bob and Jack get married they may hold hands in public, or, God forbid, kiss each other in plain sight. What will I tell my up and coming homophobic rat bastard child?

One bright spot. America's youth, the 18-29 yr olds in this election. Something tells me they're fed up with religion in politics, bigotry, racism, homophobia, etc - and they are facing both financial and enviornmental (not to mention energy) crisis. Its a different time.

Now, granted, the American people can do a U turn and go back to embracing stupid. I guess it all depends on whether this country finally grows up. If it does, the GOP is dead for a generation. If not, the homophobes will be back in full force. The fascist corps will hold back to see where the highest concentrations of whores wind up.

The republican party would do well to distance themselves from the religious right and let them find their own party.

    As long as bigotry remains,
    As long as ignorance remains,
    Until then Republicans remain
To increae the misery of the world.

Anyone who wants Rethugs out of power forever needs to have their feet planted firmly on the ground.

Nothing sounding the least bit like pie-in-the-sky has ever produced anything of real value and has cheated billions over the centuries. Religion of all types reminds me of crooks who say, just let me have your bank account number so we can process your order, and like brain-dead beings, we turn it over. Worse, religion forces you to turn over your entire life in the end.

As soon as the New Deal reforms revive the economy the oligrachs will crank up their Laissez Faire think tank machine and lobbyists and put America back on the road to ruin. It is a vicious cycle. It started with Ike who many thought could administer the reforms of the New Deal better than the Dems. Then we ended up with Reagan, who turned the gov over the the Heritage Foundation, then Bush who turned it over to the neo-cons many of whom were Jewish, so we ended up retaliating against Iraq for the Squd Missiles they lobbed into Israel. revolution is still the only solution
