AMERICAblog: The one where Joey got Monica's turkey stuck on his head

  • judybrowni · 1 year ago
    A rip-off of Mr. Bean, but still . . .

(Although Mr. Bean's head-in-turkey still funnier:)

I agree -- the first thing that came to my mind. The Mr. Bean bit was hilarious.

Mr Bean: Funny. friends: only funny to Americans. Americans always seem to mistake smartarse professional writer gags for humour.

Another Mr. Bean fan here. My wife gets pre-cooked sliced turkey from the local farmer's market these days. Today, our 15-year-old son asked what the big deal was about preparing a whole turkey and I reminded him about the Mr Bean episode (which he has seen, but not recently)!

    1) who is paying for the ginormous nyc apartment these 20-somethings live in?
    2) how do you live in nyc and have zero black, asian, latino or gay friends?

I never really watched Friends; did they do incompetent ripoffs of any other Mr Bean sketches?

Why all the hate for Friends? I love that show.

As for the apartment, it belonged to Monica's grandmother. Monica illegally sublet the apartment from her grandmother, or something, was the explanation from the show.

Guess I'm living in an alternate universe--never saw one episode of "Friends"; but I did read that in 2005 Jennifer Aniston (she was in it, right?) was the most recognized American celebrity in the world. Go figure.

If you watch a few episodes from the first two seasons and then watch a few from the last seasons you'll see that the characters are not the same. They became dumber, shriller and more cartoony ... especially Monica, Joey and Ross. And not nearly as funny.
