AMERICAblog: "The Pentagon" blocks Obama from visiting troops

  • Õ¿Õ · 1 year ago
The wingnuts have been howling like idiots because "Obama didn't visit the wounded troops."
  • sittenpretty · 1 year ago
we are in the GRIPS OF a Fascist government media cabal....it is frightening the scope of their power to do evil,..............you too Andrea the fugly
  • Õ¿Õ · 1 year ago
Like we've been saying all along, the troops are a "captured audience" for the GOP and they want that strictly enforced. But we see how they immediately are when they escape.
  • Õ¿Õ · 1 year ago
ha ha The wingnuts wanted the troops to boo Obama. Heads exploded all over wingnutville when that didn't happen. The troops hate the GOP but are afraid of them like what happened to Pat Tillman.

Standard behavior from this corrupted revolving door Pentagon...I'd like to hear of soldiers questioning their command about this attempt (both the Pentagon's refusal and the not so mysterious email from the Intel officer) to politically smear Senator Obama.
I remember, not quite a year ago, my nephew arrived in Germany on a medical airlift from the Afghan front one week after suffering head trauma from a nearby explosion. With eyes and head wrapped in gauze, my nephew and other fresh wounded were quartered 30 miles from the military hospital. These sightless wounded were expected to ride a bus 30 miles twice a day for treatment. JA and his DC media connections played a large part in the Pentagon's rapid transfer of these men back to the States where, as of this writing, they are still not getting proper treatment.

Every single one of the 200,000 Germans who took time to attend the Obama speech, will be triple thankful that they were able to see the one and only candidate we have that as President, would never have stopped any American candidate from visiting our injured soldiers in Germany Hospitals. I believe this will affirm what each of the 200,000 Germans had detested about us the past nearly 8 years. This is certainly what makes me feel so sad and so terribly ashamed of the Bush administration!

Check out this hopeful Obama video from Maria Muldaur’s “Yes We Can!” Tons of friends, too, like Amma, Joan Baez, Jane Fonda, Holly Near, Phoebe Snow, Marianne Williamson, and more.

But think of it from the McShrub campaign point of view. Obama would have been around troops that were sent there for poltical reasons by the GOP and were maimed for life for nothing. The GOP are maiming and murdering the troops for nothing. Those images must have been stopped whatever it took and that's what they did. Total fascism.
  • Õ¿Õ · 1 year ago
Well, obviously, not totally for nothing for Big Oil and other corporations.
  • Õ¿Õ · 1 year ago
Another day, more outrages and we're only halfway through.
  • tbhull · 1 year ago
If anything goes bad with Obama one must look at the military 1st, as these boys do not like being taken off the government dole.
  • Sugapea · 1 year ago
    Right Wing Radio was saying:
The wounded troops DIDN'T WANT his visit...
That's why he cancelled the visit.
Word of the truth really needs to get out!
  • jcgraham77 · 1 year ago
this is the tip of the iceburg
  • dad · 1 year ago
It would be only as political as any other senator or president who has done the same thing.
  • Õ¿Õ · 1 year ago
Gah, how I hate repukes. Their BS artistry and lies are destroying this country.
  • Õ¿Õ · 1 year ago
The have totally crippled and deformed the political process.
  • Õ¿Õ · 1 year ago
All our institutions are teetering on collapse. Banking, the justice system, economy. Etc. Wingnuts, and I know many lurk here, I know you're really lousy chess players because your can't see ahead, even short distances. Let me explain it to you: You're bringing it all down on yourselves with your idiocy, too. That means a failed state for this country. Starvation and violence and from what I've seen of you as a group, you're going to be the least likely to survive under those conditions. I know you all like to wax triumphant about yourselves but you wouldn't last a week before some other group eliminates you. You're extremely soft and helpless.

I was thinking that the other day. Many of these little neocon creeps were the kids we used to beat up on the playground.
  • LasloPratt · 1 year ago

For the GOP, "support the troops" is just a political slogan

That's where you're wrong. They really mean it. But to them "troops" means "defense contractors."
  • Busboy · 1 year ago
John Edwards is pulling a McCain, visiting his mistress while his wife is dying of cancer. I'd say he's not going to be the next VP:

    I know, I know....
  • Õ¿Õ · 1 year ago
You're shocked he was fucking a woman?
  • Busboy · 1 year ago
Why do progressives always go to bed with ugly women? Compare Bill and Monica to that hot little thing Berlusconi has running around as his cabinet minister in Italy.
  • caphillprof · 1 year ago
The reverse would seem to be equally true: Pentagon bars troops from seeing Obama. Up to now, the GOP has been hot to get the troops to vote; after Afghanistan, maybe not so much.
  • Bostonian_Queer_in_Dallas · 1 year ago
But it is okay for the Pentagon to promote McSame. Which it is not. It is punishable by prison time. This is a fascist government.
  • dad · 1 year ago
    it is what it is.
    this will continue.
    they have nothing.

fortunately Obama's truth is too big for the same old republies.
while they are wallowing in the mud he is jumping mountains.

    get the fork.
  • Õ¿Õ · 1 year ago
    Well said.
  • TampaZeke · 1 year ago
What's even more rich is that the PENTAGON told Barack that a visit would be political and inappropriate so when a reporter asked him why he canceled the visit Obama said that it had been determined that it would be inappropriate. Within minutes McCain released a blustering statement that "it's NEVER inappropriate to visit our wounded troops!"

So is McCain now saying that we SHOULDN'T listen to commanders on the ground?
  • Joneses · 1 year ago
Politics over the good for the country. Politics over the good of the troops.

Just heard McCain on CNN, well the short version. It's sad.

At least Obama is up-lifting, trying to bring us together with the world, but first, together with ourselves in America.
  • tlsintx · 1 year ago
Limpballs is spewing lies propping up the propaganda...
--Obama dissed the troops so he could go shoot hoops

--Obama's speech trashed America --he prefers Europe to the U.S.

right-wing hate radio is the mouthpiece of bush/cheney/mccain/rove
  • CDS2 · 1 year ago
Well, there's a much different story coming out of the Pentagon. It will be interesting to check Snopes in a couple of days.
  • Ben Dover · 1 year ago
Of course YOU would still believe anything coming out of the Pentagon and its Ministry of Truth.
  • CDS2 · 1 year ago
The title of the thread is "The Pentagon........." Apparently you don't believe ythe Pentagon ?
  • Ben Dover · 1 year ago
Not at all since the BushCo regimen goose stepped into Washington, D.C.
In other words, the Pentagon got its orders from on high.
  • CDS2 · 1 year ago
Ben....read the subject line of the thread. If you don't believe the Pentagon, then what they said about Obama is a lie...?
  • Polly_Tics · 1 year ago
The Pentagon didn't LIE, they just conveniently didn't tell Obama's campaign of the limits for the visit...how special.
  • jr · 1 year ago
"we'll memory hole the pentagon preventing Obama from seeing the troops and ask why doesn't Obama want to see the troops"-Fox, Clear Channel and Pajamas Media
  • CitizenX · 1 year ago
Heads will be exploding on wing nut radio if they even try to correct their lies from yesterday. The wingnuts were going on about how Obama couldn't be bothered to visit the troops, when in all actuality it was the Pentagon that blocked him from visiting?
  • CDS2 · 1 year ago
The Pentagon is now denying that... Let's let Snopes dig it out, and find out exactly what happened.
  • Bush_Bites · 1 year ago
They just have the false Afghanistan rumour now.

Another thing which is hard to swallow that McCain's ratings are going upward per the corporate media. The only cable news that I watch except for Keith O, has McCain all over their station. It's a same.

I guess they figure that the American people are truly stupid. What happened to all the mistakes that McCain has done? If it were Obama - well you get my drift.
  • Wesinoregon · 1 year ago
I wonder what would have happened if McCain had been told that he couldn't visit the troops?
  • Sage24 · 1 year ago
From what I gathered Obama was refused the opportunity to visit the troops, because the Pentagon did NOT want this to be political. I don't think Obama would have deliberately stayed away. I guess the Pentagon must have been under pressure from some republican high up, and refused permission.
    Who knows.
  • Bush_Bites · 1 year ago
Obama's people BETTER have some names.

    This is getting ugly fast.

I can just see the commercials now.
  • CDS2 · 1 year ago
The simple version is: He could have gone, but decided not to. The expanded version is that he could have gone as a Senator and taken one or two aides along, as he did in Afghanistan.
  • aquarius2 · 1 year ago
Earlier you suggested that Snopes would sort this out. Well they did. You don't like the answer?
  • CDS2 · 1 year ago
You better check your facts. There is nothing in Snopes about this subject....It's probably too soon. (There is something about his trip to Afghanistan, but not this trip).
  • Polly_Tics · 1 year ago
    CDS2,
He WOULD have gone and he WANTED to go, but he wasn't told about the Pentagons rulings. You see, he let his Senate staff go after the middle east portion of his trip.

IF he knew that he needed his Senate staffers there to assure the Pentagon that it was still part of his government trip he would have kept them with him, BUT the Pentagon didn't tell Obama about that aspect of their rules until he let the staff go home. Funny , eh?

Also of note is that McCain and his campaign know all about that ruling since they just went through all of that a few months ago on their last trip. So you see, they knew all about the conflict , but decided to make believe that it was Obama's fault when in fact it was the Pentagon NOT notifying him earlier. McCain's campaign just knew the media wouldn't pry. Our forth estate should be so proud of themselves.

    Isn't that special.
  • Bush_Bites · 1 year ago
Looks like they started to spread an "Obama blows off Afghanistan Troops" viral e-mail, but it didn't take:
