AMERICAblog: The royal wedding is off

  • Ruthless Gravity · 9 months ago
It was True Love Always, I tell ya!

    Sniff, sniff.
  • 7 · 9 months ago
I never believed they were going to get married in the first place.
  • Jim Olson · 9 months ago
    Surprised, anyone?

    *crickets*

Oh, and the "Support Sarah PAC" banner ad at the top of the page today is priceless.
  • cereal · 9 months ago
OK now, be fair: this is what would have happened to the kid of ANY person, Dem or GOP, running for office, especially President. "Unwed teen mom kid" is not high on the wish list of any campaign consultant - I think if it had been an Obama kid, you would have seen an engagement for the press, even if it was always understood it need only last as long as the campaign.
  • tlsintx · 9 months ago
    i disagree.
  • CitizenX · 9 months ago
    I disagree also.
  • cereal · 9 months ago
Oh, sure. If a Democratic (you know, the "party-that-hates-traditional-family-values" according to the "liberal" media) candidate had an unwed teen mother kid, you know the press would go utterly ballistic on him/her. And any professional campaign consultant would insist on mitigating that potential disaster. BUt hey, Obama is so amazingly post-politics awsum that he (and his campaign staff) would smile and go on Letterman and be all like, "not only is my daugher an unwed teen mother, she worships SATAN and reads Lenin every nite!"

    Sure.
  • tlsintx · 9 months ago
the point is, the McCain campaign used these kids to pander to the extreme right-wing religious base.

now, they deserve the piling on they will get.
  • Apphouse50 · 9 months ago
    Nah-ahhhhhhh.
  • ndtovent · 9 months ago
I figured as much, as did a lot of other people, but I hope levi stays involved in the kids life as he's growing up.
  • Nina K · 9 months ago
    I'm shocked! Shocked and stonned!
  • boloboffin · 9 months ago
And in a couple of years, we'll learn all about how Levi is as bad as Mike Wooten. Men disrespect the Palin women to their own peril.
  • Rob Mule · 9 months ago
I heard McCrab's ugly-ass daughter yesterday confess to hunting for tattooed bad boys...mebbe Levi was swayed by the 10+ houses and 20+ bathrooms owned by Cindy Lou????
  • moseao · 9 months ago
You're probably right, but we can't prove that. I'd rather not start talking about this like there's irrefutable evidence to support it.
  • Rob Mule · 9 months ago
    Oh dear sweet Jesus!?!?!?!?!?!
    She lied to Gretta!?!?!!?!?!??!
And Gretta thought spreading for Todd's snowmobile would insure full faith and trust...
    As snowbillies might say, "Oy!"
  • hollisterwelles · 9 months ago
And the popping sound you hear is not fireworks going off celebrating their breakup, it's the sound of fundy heads exploding all over the country as their idol's daughter strays from the established path yet one more time...

Not having sex before marriage is "unrealistic", as I guess marriage also now is...

What an interesting little story coming out of fundy America...
  • Rob Mule · 9 months ago
    Don't just hate, pollinate!!!
  • Jim Olson · 9 months ago
Wait. Bristol doesn't let Levi see the baby because she doesn't want him around "white trash?" Pot, meet kettle. Ugh. Could these people please take their soap opera elsewhere?
  • CitizenX · 9 months ago
Does she qualify as a MILF?
    I'm just sayin!
  • cereal · 9 months ago
I would totally pay to see Bristol and McCain's daughter Jell-O (TM) wrestle.

    Just sayin'.
  • tlsintx · 9 months ago
call michael steele - he needs fundraising ideas.
  • Trappedinaredstate · 9 months ago
I'd rather see Levi Johnson and the First Dude.
  • Apphouse50 · 9 months ago
    Oh, gee, really?

I'm just surprised it took this long. Not that I'm any big fan of ol' red-neck Levi's, but I feel bad for both kids and that baby, all being manipulated as they were. What reprehensible people Sarah Palin and John McCain are.
  • Jim Olson · 9 months ago
Agreed. The whole thing was an attempt to cover their asses. Frankly, its probably better for both of them if they don't get married.
  • Glenn I · 9 months ago
Maybe Bristol can give her baby to a nice gay couple who can raise it with love & sanity.
  • PattyP · 9 months ago
Can I tell the Family Values Party to kiss my fuzzy pink ass now?
  • Queer Canuck · 9 months ago
Just a speculation, but perhaps Levi has decided to be gay. It is a choice, you know, that's what they all say. He likes Bristol and everything, and he's been straight up to now, but maybe he woke up the other day and decided that gay is the way.
  • Gridlock · 9 months ago
it's not even her kid anyway..
  • tlsintx · 9 months ago
    i agree.
  • hrh · 9 months ago
Oh, yes, her is! If that's Trig you're speaking of. And let's not forget Tripp, if he actually exists.
  • Anonymous · 9 months ago
Well, it's just as well, and could be worse. At least Levi Johnston's not gay. At least Bristol Palin's not a lesbian.
  • Gridlock · 9 months ago
Why, what's wrong with being gay or being a lesbian?
  • HereinDC · 9 months ago
Does that mean they have to shut down the Bridal registry at Wal-Mart?
  • moreleesafer · 9 months ago
damn! better add Trailers R Us and the Dollar Store to the list.
  • lauram · 9 months ago
Good for Bristol. I hope she takes the time to grow up a little and raise her son rather than commit both of their lives to someone who is still a child himself.
  • hrh · 9 months ago
Didn't you mean to say...."raise both her sons"?
  • PorridgeGun · 9 months ago
Ah, never a dull moment with the Wasilla Hillbillies.

I wonder what the right-wing mouthbreathers (and Fox, et al) would have had to say had this been Chelsea Clinton, back when Bill was in the White House. They would have been frothing at the mouth.
  • JESMOHR · 9 months ago
Bristol's case just demonstrates the damage inflicted by right wing, loony parents. Cannot have anything other than abstinence education. The result - an unwanted, teenage pregnancy. Have to have the boy do the right thing during the campaign. Now an unwed, teenage mother. Thank God her mother is governor. I wish her the best and hope that she does well.
  • Leo · 9 months ago
What about the poor innocent baby? Where is the outrage among those who claim to be protecting the "sanctity of marriage" in order to protect children? These GOP pigs are beyond hypocritical!!
  • Trappedinaredstate · 9 months ago
I swear this family is the gift that keeps on giving! The 'White Trash' comment... oh the irony! THE IRONY!

I wonder if Alanis Morrissette could work that one into a lyric?
  • Liza · 9 months ago
LOL. Totally agree on the "white trash" comment. Um pot meet kettle?
  • Jenius · 9 months ago
    Shocked. SHOCKED I tells ya!

    ...That it lasted this long.
  • John · 9 months ago
    Quelle surprise.

Republicans not respecting the "sanctity" of marriage? And having children out-of-wedlock? No, who would've ever thought.
  • RainbowPhoenix · 9 months ago
Interesting that this announcment is made as Palin is falling out of the news.
  • KerrynowCampau · 9 months ago
If I was Levi and his parents I would be very concerned with that child being raised in the Palin family
  • PorridgeGun · 9 months ago
Can you say: Jason Voorhees? LEATHERFACE???
  • RainbowPhoenix · 9 months ago
A narcissistic media whore or a drug dealer. What a choice.
  • KerrynowCampau · 9 months ago
I forgot about the drug dealing....

Well that kids' fate is sealed...

    Dysfunctional
  • Asterix · 9 months ago
So who will get custody of the little bastard?
  • Cpeterka · 9 months ago
I think the photo is of Bristol and TRIG, not TRIP.
It looks like a really LARGE 2 Month Old.
  • AbbyB · 9 months ago
Agree...look at the amount and color of the hair. The kid's arm span is consistent with the period of time between the convention and now, if you look at his pictures then.
  • jerryCA · 9 months ago
Levi will soon wished he had never dated Bristol. The Palin family is one mean vindictive family. If he want to see his child, he better be prepared, mentally and financially, for lots of lawsuits from Bristol and her momma. Or even visits (harrassements?) from sheriffs.
  • KarenMrsLloydRichards · 9 months ago
    More like Levi "Silkwood"Johnston.

    Levi better take the bus.
  • devlzadvocate · 9 months ago
I thought the conservative mantra is that a child needs both a male and a female parent. What happened here? No single parents are allowed! There are no alternatives to the "tradtional" family.

Mrs. Palin should make him go to the alter! Immediately, if not sooner. If she cannot convince him, he must not be an American.
  • daho · 9 months ago
    Best comment of the day!
  • mousegirl · 9 months ago
I have no doubt Levi will have to file suit to gain access to his child. The Palin family will most likely try and hinder his parental rights by any means possible. On the good side, it means that people will have second thoughts about Sarah running for higher office AND it will give the tabloids good stories for years to come!
  • duchessofbilgewater · 9 months ago
The pseudo sister-in-law said that Bristol hoped the baby wasn't Levi's???? Does that mean the baby could be someone else's? If i were Levi, I would asked for paternity testing PRONTO! Oh, that poor little baby.
  • Cpeterka · 9 months ago
Can't do that.... it might prove to be SARAH's !! ROFL...
    I smell a conspiracy.
  • Tressa · 9 months ago
I think it's a good idea to accept the ramblings of Mercedes Johnston as gospel in this case. It's well-known that the poor people who are offered huge amounts of money to dish crap in interviews in scandal rags always tell the truth. They never make stuff up to sell to the highest bidder.
  • Milli · 9 months ago
Levi, Mercede, Bristol, Tripp - what the hell are Alaskans smoking when they name their kids?
  • moreleesafer · 9 months ago
    pot. lots of pot.
  • maudgonne · 9 months ago
Thought it as another pharma merger going down...
  • smallhandff · 9 months ago
Perhaps Bristol is taking career advise from "Octo-Mom". For dead-enders like Bristol unwed motherhood, aka bastard-baby-factory, is a good career option.
  • Tressa · 9 months ago
Um, "octo-mom" is a Democrat. You might want to be careful about those big stones you're hurling. Unwed motherhood doesn't have a political party.
  • Powkat · 9 months ago
Oh, BIG surprise! I predicted this as soon as the little redneck's website was discovered.
  • Brad Townsend · 9 months ago
Gee, I'm so surprised! NOT! Typical redneck behavior by rednecks (I should know, I come from a redneck family). I shudder to think what it would have been like to have Grandma Sarah as VP! Ugh!
  • Indigo · 9 months ago
Now that Levi has come to his senses, I'm hopeful that he'll move to rainbow San Francisco for tryouts.
  • JackDallasQueer · 9 months ago
For 2012 the bumpersticker should read

    CARIBOU AND JINDALOO!
  • Wesinoregon · 9 months ago
"Levi tries to visit Tripp every single day, but Bristol makes it nearly impossible for him. She tells him he can't take the baby to our house because she doesn't want him around 'white trash.'

Sounds like Rove political tactics as usual. Call the others the names and things that fit the person calling it first. Palin and McCain did this repeatedly during the campaign.
  • ndtovent · 9 months ago
actually, this kid will have it much better growing up than most kids of teenage moms. his grandmother is a gov, so bristol and the kid well cared for. I'm sure there will be a nanny or some kind of domestic servant to help raise him.
  • TheAngryFag · 9 months ago
That poor child.... first born into that family and now this.
  • eric · 9 months ago
Speaking of inquiring minds who want to know.. has anyone seen a picture of this baby? Last summer there was a rumor flying around that the father of the baby was a black guy that had gone up to alaska to work the oil fields for the summer and that's who is the baby daddy.
All in all its a perfect story for tabloid trash news.. Just another example of family values republicans showing us how the moral barometer of the country should be set.. uhh yeah right
  • Tressa · 9 months ago
Oh dear god, are you really telling me you are willing to stoop to smearing this poor teenage girl just so you can pass on a juicy bit of trashy gossip? That says a lot more about you than it does Bristol Palin!
  • Jay · 9 months ago
    Major shock - NOT!
  • miss skeptic · 9 months ago
Bristol can start collecting welfare and Medicaid now.
  • Older_Wiser · 9 months ago
Not surprised. The whole country seems to be going that way. There won't be any wedding after 5 yrs for my 21 yr old granddaughter and her boyfriend, either. But at least I know my great-grandson is his (has his famous forehead), and she is moving back in with her dad (my son). And none of us are running for political office, either, or telling others how to live.

And BTW, my granddaughter has a secure job with a doctor and is making her own way in life.
  • KJ · 9 months ago
It doesn't matter if she has a job with a doctor or a clown...
  • Rufus · 9 months ago
OK, I'll marry her but only if Governor Sarah makes me the head of the Alaska National Guard. You betcha.
  • John Edwards · 9 months ago
How soon you forget Democrat Presidential candidate John Edwards and his love child. At least Palin was honest and came forward with the truth. How come we don't hear or see John Edwards any more?
  • hrh · 9 months ago
Palin and the truth?!?! Ya gotta be kidding.

The truth is she lies like a rug. Example: Trig is not Sarah Palin's child. And does Tripp even exist? No evidence to prove any of this.
  • PatD · 9 months ago
    Amen to all that.

Maybe this Mercedes Johnson interview will start the unraveling process for Palin's tissue of lies.
  • Tressa · 9 months ago
If we could see your lies, would they be better or worse than Palin's?
  • bob915 · 9 months ago
Palin was honest after the media picked up on the pitiful attempt to hide the young lady's bluging midriff. She then proceeded to, along with the McCain Family Value Parade, put the teens into the center ring of a pathetic circus of pseudoAmericanism, all wrapped up in both a baby blanket and Old Glory with a Successionist banner underneath. Edwards was called out to public with his dallyings and his wife summarily kicked him to the curb---he NEVER paraded the mother, child, or his family after that all came out. Difference? You make your own mind up
  • Hillary · 9 months ago
The difference was he was lying while running for President. Just like Obama lied about no earmarks and no lobbyists in his administration and lied about the porkulus bill.

    Obama lied; the economy died.
  • RitornaVincitor · 9 months ago
Let's hear it for family values.
  • Antinous · 9 months ago
Everytime I hear the name Palin, the terms trampy and sto' bought come to mind.
  • Muscato · 9 months ago
    "sto' bought"!

There's an expression I haven't heard in years. Too true!
  • MNUSA · 9 months ago
With a drug dealing mother, I can see why Bristol Palin wouldn't want the baby around the Johnston house. The baby does deserve to spend time with his father, however. Let's hope they can work it out without using the baby as the war zone.
  • missime · 9 months ago
It's not about the babies being born our of wedlock. It's not about one parent keeping the kid away from the other parent. It's about kids having kids, Grandmas & Grandpas who are too young to care for their grandchildren because they have their own young kids to raise. It's about raising these kids, their health, their schooling, their growing up in a disciplined family setting. For Palin, it's about the hipocrisy of her mother being holier-than-thou but lying about Bristol's pregnancy until the media came out with the story. It's about making America believe that sex education is evil, contraception is abortion, abortion is evil and women have no choice to choose contraception. I think Bristol is a fine young lady who got messed up by the ambiguity of a Republican Party that believes that having sex is great (at least in marriage and her parents are still having it) and contraception, prophylaxis, pregnancy prevention and sex education are evil. What's a unmarried teenager-in-heat to do? Especially when he/she can't wait for marriage? By the way, Alaska is the state with the highest incidence of STDs . Go figure. We need education in this country but, more importantly, we need parents to get involved in raising their kids to become morally and ethically responsible citizens. I'm still working at it. It's no easy task and I don't know if Bristol can do it on her own. My heart goes out to her.
  • Tressa · 9 months ago
Not for the gossip element? The Republicans are crassly political? Making statements like that make it all the more definite that your statements are SIMULTANEOUSLY gossiping and crassly political. I am neither Rep or Dem, and it is abundantly clear to me that your soul intention is to point fingers, gossip and ignore the hypocrisy that plenty of teenage Dems are in exactly the same situation. Good luck with your career as a pundit. I guess throwing stones at a couple of rural teenagers is as close as YOU can come to making witty observations. You could have saved yourself and all of us time by just saying that ever mature and witty, "I told you so!"

Don't quit your day job, if you have one. And just let these kids, whom you don't even know, live their own lives without criticising them. They weren't going to invite you to the wedding anyway.
  • dashedwedding · 9 months ago
Why is this a surpise ? Did anyone really expect a fairy tales wedding ? Well, Palin dreamt of a White House wedding for her daughter, fully sponsered by her croonies but that was quickly dashed when the campaign failed. America should be thankful we dodged that crazy idiotic bullet of Palin. Obviously someone was lookign down on us kindly fom up there somewhere, and decided we dont deserve such hedious punishment.
  • GrMtGirl3 · 9 months ago
These Repubs are truly a piece of work . . . Supposed fairy tale weddings . . . just one of many publisized stunts to inflate false beliefs of Conservatism. They pulled Palin to counteract Hillary . . . what a joke! Now they have pulled a black to represent their Party in an attempt to counteract Obama . . . . talk about grasping at straws . . . . !
