AMERICAblog: The Theocrats are in a frenzy over Palin

  • houstonray · 1 year ago
Spread the word far and wide to everyone you know...if this country elects McSame/WTF08, there is no doubt that we will be s-c-r-e-w-e-d for years to come.

We have to do all we can AND more to help take back the White House. This kind of $hit scares me.
  • nicho · 1 year ago
This election will settle once and for all just how mind-numbingly stupid Americans really are.

In general, they're pretty stupid -- but this will be the final challenge.

If McCrazy and Miss Congeniality are "elected," I would advise anyone who can to pack their bags and head for the exits.
  • marijo · 1 year ago
    I've already started planning...
  • lynchie · 1 year ago
That is the real bottom line here. Does senility, stupidity and 8 years of Bush trump the need to restore the rule of law, the constitution and take this country in another direction.

I have some trouble believing that the hardcore fundies are that excited. These people won't even let women teach young boys, because of some idea that women shouldn't give orders to men. The idea of a woman a heartbeat away from the Presidency should repel them. Then again, they do specialize in hypocrisy...
  • IdahoGal · 1 year ago
I'm new here but I just have to ask does anyone know what religion Sarah Palin is?
  • Psyche · 1 year ago
Apparently some Pentacostal denomination. Scarily conservative. See more here: http://www.streetprophets.com/storyonly/2008/8/...
  • KarenMrsLloydRichards · 1 year ago
Assemblies of God: and some congregations, depending on the pastor, are totally wacky.
  • IdahoGal · 1 year ago
Thank you! All the stuff coming out now is crazy. I read AmericaBlog everyday, but have never felt compelled to jump in until now. What are we ever going to do if this duo gets in office?
  • shrrrr · 1 year ago
"See yeah at the debates, Bitches."

Kinda has new meaning now, don't you think?
  • Indigo · 1 year ago
So Paris Hilton wasn't available for the Republican ticket? Too bad. I bet Britney Spears would have accepted.
  • nicho · 1 year ago
Not so fast. People still recoil at the idea of an older man dominating a younger woman. It's kind of reverse sexism. If Biden treats her the way he would treat, say, Mitt Romney, it would gain millions of sympathy votes for her. He actually needs to tread very very carefully here.
  • lark83 · 1 year ago
Hey, I just saw a news website from Alaska where the reporter says Palin lied about being opposed to the bridge to nowhere. She never opposed it, and that was her money line.

This is great. She has spoken for only about 10 minutes and already she can be caught lying her ass off.
  • Happy_Housewife · 1 year ago
I keep telling you guys to get your farm terms right.

    He's not a MAVERICK. He's a GELDING !

    ;-)
  • lark83 · 1 year ago
Its in the Huffington Post. Sounds like the woman has already blatantly lied her ass off.

We have troopergate, babygate, bridgegate.....lots of potential scandals around this woman.
  • Will_In_Midtown · 1 year ago
I'm thinking out loud here, but why not compare the disgust that 85% of Americans felt after the Terri Schiavo nightmare to the exact same mindset to which Palin adheres?
  • Bush_Bites · 1 year ago
They use code words that only the Fundies understand.

It sort of goes over every normal person's head, but the fundies know what they're saying.

Bush is an expert at it.
  • Indigo · 1 year ago
For me, the hyphenated neologism "Judeo-Christian" doesn't quite make sense at any level. It conjures a picture of a mezuzzah with a crucifix on it.
In the immortal words of Nancy Reagan, "Just say no."
  • nicho · 1 year ago
It doesn't make any sense. It's a term invented by Christians who are desperate to show that there is some seamless web between Judaism and Christianity. In their view, Christianity is the fulfillment of Judaism. Jews pretty much don't share that view.

But, since both sets of scriptures are forgeries perpetrated for political reasons, it really doesn't make any difference.
  • Bush_Bites · 1 year ago
Fundies don't really believe in the New Testament anyway--except for the crucifixion part.
  • Indigo · 1 year ago
That would be crucifying others a la Mel Gibson snuff movies, I assume.
  • Mikki --SE Pennsylvania · 1 year ago
How come all these mad dog fundies seem to overlook things like ADULTERY which is what MCShame committed with the beer heiress? Does getting married afterward make it all OK?
  • Sugapea · 1 year ago
I heard some young lady call talk-radio yesterday.
She was elated with Palin! She said...
Sarah will bring the three things that will set America free:
    God...Guns and Guts!

Your right Joe...Palin's a modern Phyllis Shafely!
  • Bostonian_Queer_in_Dallas · 1 year ago
The Judeo part refers only to fundamentalist Orthodox Judaism. Modern Orthodox, Conservative, and Reform Jews do NOT interpret the Torah (first five books of what we call the Old Testament, and which include Leviticus) literally. In fact Judaism is all about arguing the meaning and translation from Hebrew to the vernacular of what these words mean. The very meaning of the word ISRAEL means "he who argues with God." Except for some really far right wing nutcase Orthodox crazies, Jews do NOT share the value system of the Kkkristian nutbags. Thus the term "Judeo-Christian" values is an oxymoron today.
  • Bush_Bites · 1 year ago
    Poor Bobby Jindal

Renounced his faith and all he got was this lousy Hurricane.
  • Bostonian_Queer_in_Dallas · 1 year ago
ROFLMAO...I had that very same thought earlier today. Gave up Hinduism, a fine ancient religion, for white trash babble thumper jeebus freaking and thought his political future was rosy and now all he's got is Gustav!
  • MotorCityBadBoy · 1 year ago
How do they feel abut Palin's daughter having a baby at 16? Talk about traditional family values!
  • Bush_Bites · 1 year ago
That probably won't go very far.

    They're like the Nazis were.

Must populate the race--in marriage if possible, but out of marriage if necessary.

You can always ask for forgiveness later.
  • MotorCityBadBoy · 1 year ago
But the rest of us will be frowned upon and cast out as sinners for doing the same thing. Sadly, I think I'm starting to get how this "Sense of Entitlement" thing works.
  • An_American_Karol · 1 year ago
Lying is forgivable if the lie is for the better good of the Republican Party. Ask Bush, Rove and the rest of the lying Administration bringing us Iraq.

Palin's negatives just keep oozing out of the woodwork on all fronts. Obviously, his mad dog approach of leaping before he looks is bringing him home a whole mess of trouble. Having bewen a POW over three decades ago is NOT going to let him weasel out. Jonny needs to come to grips with his own reality: Yes he was a POW all those years ago but he was not, is not , or ever will be a war hero. He is not a man of honor no matter how one might define the word. He is a sad, evil, old dwarf impotently shaking his cane at the clouds. What he is, is a moral leper. And it is quickly becomming clear that in Palin he picked a very appropriate political mate.

Sarah Palin hardly looks old enough to be a mother much less a gr . . .
  • SouthernYankee · 1 year ago
Well I don't know where you are from but believe it or not I live in a rural part of TN and I know great-grandmother at her age. I was shocked when I moved here. I know 35 yr old grandmothers. Some of these kids have kids at 15 or 16 yrs old. To think this is the buckle of the bible belt. Yet there are out there raising their hands praising god. I wonder what god would really think?
  • AdrianBrowne · 1 year ago
44-year old secret grandmothers just LOVE Sarah Palin.
  • sukabi1 · 1 year ago
I'm telling you folks. The Evangelical base is revved up about this pick. A McCain campaign source told me that there is so much excitement from the Evangelical community about this pick that it's making their head spin.

Of course the McCain campaign is claiming this, what else would they claim, that their leader is an impulsive asshat that doesn't do his homework and makes choices to spite his handlers???

did the reporter even bother to go out and ask some self-proclaimed evangelicals what they thought???
  • SouthernYankee · 1 year ago
Hell no they don't. See no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil. BS. Dobson is lika a mexican jumping bean he is sooooo happy. I guess its OK if Ms McCain's family sells beer and Palan new infant is actually her grandchild. But again its ok for the republican not the democratics.
  • tlsintx · 1 year ago
i cannot believe the fundies are swallowing the GOPer bullshit yet again.

note to fundies: McCain and Rove think you're idiots. They won't do jack shit for you, same as Bush.
  • Bostonian_Queer_in_Dallas · 1 year ago
    Fundies swallowing bullshit is normal.
  • BorninUSA · 1 year ago
Wouldn't it be fun if Palin and Cheney went hunting together? Two of a kind?
  • An_American_Karol · 1 year ago
I wonder which of the two would walk away with buckshot in the face.
  • Bostonian_Queer_in_Dallas · 1 year ago
Okay she's been away this week and now you pay....

Today's quote from Ms Thang Rodeo Queen Pillpoppin' Sugarmama Cindy McSame:

"Well, possums, it's been a bitch of a week. After my fifteenth tit lift, Johnny hated the scars and said, no way, ho, about a good snogging. So I headed off to my spa week to get refitted and lo and behold Johnny has himself a real Alaskan bimbo to rile up the Jeebus base in Alabama. I bitch slapped his ass all over our 5th house, or was it our 6th house, and told him to sleep in the "wrapping room"...they put those in big houses down here....it's a fucking room just for wrapping presents for Baby Jeebus. Anyway, possums, I was sposed to hit the afghan store...whoops Afghanistan...I get those confused....the Bed Bath and Beyond at the Scottsdale Mall, and furrin countries....anyway Karl said I had to go so I said okay but only if the Alaskan Bimbo is six houses removed from Johnny. Well all for now...I need to figure out which Minola-Blonics will make the Alaska Bimbo look like shit in our next New Orleans photo-op...ewwww all those homeless Negroes to look at...TTFN!"
  • okojo · 1 year ago
The Fundamentalist aren't going to like that she vetoed legislation banning benefits to same sex couples in Alaska. Palin was pretty moderate while running Alaska. She could run it without much backlash, because it is a small state. If she runs as Right wing Christian, she may have discrepancies exposed by the media..
  • AdrianBrowne · 1 year ago
The Fundies were looking for ANY excuse to vote for McCain -- so Rove scrapped the bottom of the barrel and came up with Palin. They won't have a problem throwing her overboard when the time comes.
  • AdmNaismith · 1 year ago
OT a bit, but did anyone see an interview Chris Walas had with McCain on Fox News this AM?
McCain looked like he just came back from a weeks' holiday in San Tropez. I have NEVER seen the guy look soooo tan; he had an absolutely perfect complection and was one shade away from being deported by Immigration.
    WTF?
  • SouthernYankee · 1 year ago
All you got to do is tell all your girl friends straight or gay to goole Griswold vs CT. Bush wants to overturn that before he leaves office. SPREAD THE WORD. That means no birth control of any type including the pill. They are already allowing the Pharmacist permission not to issue the pill if it is against their religion.
  • fostert · 1 year ago
I've never understood the term Judeo-Christian. Somehow, it combines Christianity and Judaism while excluding Islam. That doesn't make any sense at all when you consider the fact that Christianity is more similar to Islam than to Judaism.
  • rextrek1 · 1 year ago
McCain has now got himself a 2008 version of Anita Bryant....(see the comparison?) surprized no-one has said that. She's Anti-women, anti-gay.....etc,etc........OBAMA / BIDEN 08!!!!!

Sarah Palin was not chosen to woo women voters; she was chosen to woo the Christian extremists.

She has been a member since childhood of the pentacostal Assembly of God church. Harper’s has a good overview here:
    http://harpers.org/archive/2008/08/hbc-90003486

David Pepper, senior pastor at Church on the Rock in Palin’s hometown of Wasilla — a church that “was kind of a foundation for her.”:

From an November 25, 2007 sermon: “The purpose for the United States is… to glorify God. This nation is a Christian nation.”

From a October 28, 2007 sermon: “God will not be mocked. I don’t care what the ACLU says. God will not be mocked. I don’t care what atheists say. God will not be mocked. I don’t care what’s going on in the nation today with so much horrific rebellion and sin and things that take place. God will not be mocked. Judgment day is coming. Where do you stand?”

Her Current Pastor: Mike Rose, senior pastor at Juneau Christian Center

From a April 27, 2008 sermon: “If you really want to know where you came from and happen to believe the word of God that you are not a descendant of a chimpanzee, this is what the word of God says. I believe this version.”
See http://dwb.adn.com/news/politics/elections/stor... for article in Anchorage Daily News quoting Ms. Palin as supporting teaching creation along with evolution.]

From a July 28, 2007 sermon: “Do you believe we’re in the last days? After listening to Newt Gingrich and the Prime Minister of Israel and a number of others at our gathering, I became convinced and I have been convinced for some time. We are living in the last days. These are incredible times to live in.”

This is from the newsletter of Palin’s church: “The opening night banquet of the 2008 Alaska District Council was honored to have Governor Sarah Palin address the delegates and guests. Governor Palin spoke of her appreciation for the Assemblies of God and requested that the Council pray for both her and the State of Alaska. Superintendent Ted Boatsman, who was Palin’s junior high pastor at Wasilla Assembly of God, along with Pastor Mike Rose of Juneau Christian Center, where Palin presently attends church when in Juneau, laid hands on the Governor and led the Council in prayer.

This is from “A Fresh Wave” by Dr Andrew Evans, the General Superintendent of the Assemblies of God in Australia and Senior Pastor of the Assemblies of God Church in Paradise, Adelaide.
“1. Mike Rose: Mike is an AOG pastor in the largest city in Alaska, who had Rodney Howard-Browne minister in his church four years ago. At that time, they had a congregation of 200, but over the last 4 years, they have seen it grow to 600 in a community of 35,000.”

Just start googling these people; and, be sure to google Rodney Howard-Browne and Third Wave Theology. Then pour yourself a drink, I think I will.
