    Austin SRV homage:

It's floodin' down in Texas, all the telephone lines are down.

I don't know about coffee but The Cockpit is right around the corner on San Jacinto. They're Club CP when they're trying to be respectable.

This coffee shop is fairly close to the convention center.

I hope you enjoy our fair city

For a drink on Saturday early evening (dusk) check at Union Park's roof on West 6th or for an animal on the wall experience try the roof of The Ranch a couple of doors down. Both have a great view od downtown and are just a hops skip and a jump (less than a mile) from the convention center. Both are right by Katz's deli. Too hot to do it during the day.

I don't know if you're a big fan of TexMex, but I'd watch out for that newest flavour treat... Salsa Salmonella.

The FDA has just cleared tomatoes. If I had a tomato now, I'd fling it in their direction.

Try the Shiner Bock beer, excellent stuff.

Anyone but me find it laughable the media is trying to claim BOTH Obama and McCain are confused by Czechoslovakia. McCain PERSONALLY uses the word Czechoslovakia and then some old surrogate, Sam Nunn, who the press breathlessly claims is in the running for V.P. for Obama uses it and suddenly "BOTH campaigns are out of touch!" Uh, no... there is an out of touch old man RUNNING FOR PRESIDENT and someone who shouldn't even be considered for V.P. FOR OBAMA both wrongly referring to Czechoslovakia. I have the perfect solution. Obama should stop considering Sam Nunn for ANYTHING, and no one should vote for the out of touch angry old man!

I'd say either Little City on Congress ~9th or Jo's on S Congress. the GNB posse is staying on SoCo near Jo's, but Little City is a bit bigger

You of course must go out to the Salt Lick for some Texas barbecue. Also there is an amazing Texas blues guitarist in the area by the name of Catherine Denise - little lady who plays like SRV. Nice terrace on the second floor of the Stephen Austin Hotel at 6th and Congress.

now her, I'd like to see.
i've been waiting for the next SRV...a chick did not occur to me...

Welcome to Austin! If you get a chance, drive out to the West side of the city, and see the hill country. Then eat some bbq :) See the sunset at the Oasis on Lake Travis.

Try to hook up with Rick Noriega, running for Senator. We absolutely must get rid of Cornyn; I've been sending emails asking if he thinks water-boarding is torture; he won't answer, the coward.

I used to live in Salt Lake City. Now, I could care less if the whole fucking city burns to the ground and kills everybody in it including me. This once was a place were I lived and loved and worked and played. I had friends and joy. I struggled and learned. Now it is only a sad place full of strangers telling me things that nobody wishes to hear.
Nothing matters to me now, there is nothing left inside of me anymore. I am all burned out. I just wish that everything could be back the way it was when we lived in a little crappy apartment over on Roberta Street. our life was so simple then, just pay Nam the rent, get some food, beer and pot. Live simply and be happy. What a wonderful simple life...
You can never go back. There is no rewind in life. You can't even change the goddamn station when things get boring or to sad to watch. You just have to sit there and take it, strapped in a chair with your eyelids propped open like Alex in A Clockwork Orange.
Life can really find ways to make a person understand the meaning of the word
Irony. I used to love a good ironic story. I used to love Irony when I saw it or when it happened to me. Now I just wish more than anything in the world that Irony would just leave me alone.
I will be SO happy to leave this City. I will never return. To many memories. To much pain.
So how is Texas from what I have herd it is real big?
  • OlderAndWiser · 1 year ago
It's real big, and it IS a "herd" too....

Beautiful picture, John! Hopefully, those cloud aren't toxic...

There may have been storms brewing, but it didn't stop "Rain" at 217 w. 4th from having their amateur strip off. Friday night at "Oilcan Harry's", 211 W. 4th, there will be a Red Hot Summer Party. Sunsets at "Oasis" are beautiful, but in my day there were better things to see down the hill at Hippy Hollow.

    I'd suggest Halcyon - http://www.austincityguide.com/content/halcyon-... for a meetup...

Halcyon Austin is a downtown coffee bar, lounge, and restaurant located at 4th & Lavaca in the heart of the Austin's Warehouse District.

I would suggest Spider House on 29th and Fruth (http://www.spiderhousecafe.com/) or the king of all local coffee houses in Austin, Ruta Maya (http://www.rutamaya.net/) down on South Congress.....

Your in my home state ... how cool!

    Austin is the most liberal.

But my hometown of San Antonio has the best TexMex food!
    I'm getting hungry. :-)

John, the Rude Pundit was a little drunk when he met you last night...could you tell?
