AMERICAblog: There's still no path to the nomination for Hillary, just a path to destruction.

  • tbhull · 1 year ago
Clinton secures the nomination by stealing, and thus crwating the real possibility that the dems lose the Houser whe the victims of Clinton's theft leave the dem ballot box for this election and many elections to come.

The Democratic party deserves absolute destruction if the Democratic party allows Clinton to steal the election from Obama when he lead in states won, the pledged delegate count and the popular vote (not counting Michigan and Florida unless a revote is held).
  • Chris From Maine · 1 year ago
silly Joe.. Hillary is working on electing John McCain and running in 2012. The whole "I can still win the nomination" stuff is just BS. SHe knows McCain wont run in 2012 (if hes still alive) and she has a clear path to that nomination.

thats her plan, and most of us know it.

How much did Clinton spend while she was busy losing the democratic primaries in over 28 states to Obama earlier, creating a pledged delegate deficiency andf popular vote deficiency she cannot over come? answer?

I swear John, you're such a sore loser.

You don't even have the class to congratulate Hillary for her victory.

I'm starting to wonder if maybe its best to just sit back and watch idiots elect John McCain? I mean, maybe our fellow Americans need another Great Depression before they get serious about politics and stop voting for "the prettiest first lady" or voting because "I just like that guy!" Maybe we need $5.00 gallon gasoline and get walled off from the political elites before people vote for their self interests?

I will say this. I have ALWAYS wanted Obama to win, but I am a pessimist when it comes to my forecasting the way America votes. I don't trust voters to pick the best candidate if his name rhymes with Osama and he is a black man. Its just too easy to make a characature out of Obama, like Hillary and Republicans already are doing to him. Its why I supported Edwards. Sure, I wanted Obama but I just don't trust my fellow American to do the right thing. I'm in Oklahoma so that is why I'm probably even more down on voters because of the pervasive Republican environment here. My greatest fear has always been we elect Obama, and then lose because of the 60 plus crowd who still can't see a black man as President. I talked an elderly Democrat into not voting for McCain because Obama is a black man tonight. She said she just wouldn't vote. I told her that was more acceptable than voting for John McCain because he is a white man. Sad, I know... but at least I talked her out of voting, huh? She agreed she didn't want to mess up her perfect Democratic voting record simply because she couldn't cast her vote for a black man for President. Racism is still alive and well. Sad but true.

SUPREME COURT is the reason McCain can't win
  • cowboyneok · 1 year ago
    "HereinDC"

If they voted for Dubya with the idea they would get fair judges, and got Alito and Roberts then you think we will get them to vote for a more progressive based on judges? The majority of the American electorate is too disconnected and unengaged to see how the President and Supreme Court are even connected. Again, when people pull the lever because they like the snarky frat boy best, or his first lady is pretty then I don't have a lot of optimism they think about the Supreme Court when they enter the voting booth.

I'm waiting for the Black caucus to give her an ultimatum:

If she doesn't bow out now, gracefully, she will face a third party black stalking horse candidate in every election she will ever face, be it President, Senator, Governor, Dog Catcher, whatever...

Once she's confronted this way, once she knows her entire political future is at stake, she'll politely fold her hand, and quietly walk away from the table.

Blacks wouldn't do this to her if she won the nomination fair and square, but she can't do that now. She'll lose their vote for the rest of her career if she doesn't back out now.

Hillary will never win another election again without African-American support.

So it depends upon her calculation. Maybe the Senate or NY Governor is not high enough office for her. Maybe she'll 'damn the torpedoes full steam ahead' anyway. Doesn't matter. She can't win squat without the black vote and if they tell her to go, she has to go or face grave consequences.

    Period.

Yes, cowboy it is sad and makes me angry. I see it in my own family, I can't go there. My grandfather was mugged in NYC by a black man and my father will never vote for a black man. After Obama's speech on race I knew it would just be dropped. Hillary can espouse how wonderful it is that little girls can now know they can grow up to be president. Yet somehow it's not very clear Obama could get away in a speech saying that little black children can do the same.

Different methods, but boith mean the same as far as it goes for picking who won a state in the dem primary. You cannot dispute this fact unless you are a Clinton sycophant.

I guess the next argument a Clinton Bozo ass clwn will pull out of the failed loser argument bag is that the dems should follow the winner take all delegate approach, but only in popular vote states and not caucus states.

Did Obama raise a million in one minute today?
Hillary's 100 grand, so far, as a result of her primary win, is simply pitiful.
Big donors will probably wait until tomorrow and look at final results and think about it.
She hasn't been able to raise the money she needs since the beginning of the year.

Hillary's campaign has been the most Gay friendly major major Presidential campaign of all time. Not only has she come out with plans to curb Gay Teen suicide, allow Gay and Lesbians to have their partners apply for citizenship as if we were married and come out for using foreign policy to stop homophobia around the world--she campaigns to Gays and Gays campaign for her. Did you see her victory speech. Did you see it!! There were a bunch of Gay guys up there with Hillary pride posters. I was almost in tears. It was terrific. President Clinton came right up and shook one of their hands.

There is more important then just the nomination--this is a great victory for Gay Rights.

Yea, well, great. I'm sure Republicans are getting the footage now to run it against Hillary in the general election. Just because Larry Craig, Congressman Schrock and Congressmen Foley got caught being closeted queers doesn't mean Republicans won't play the "fear the queers" card! The great victory for Gay Rights will be when we actually aren't used to win elections by promising to keep us as second class citizens. Until gay marriage, gays serving in the military and gays having equal employment rights isn't an issue period then we will have achieved some kind of victory.

Some queer standing behind Hillary and getting high fived by Bill doesn't move me.

  • Sage24 · 1 year ago
Although we expected her to win, I wish she lost, or won in single digits, because I am getting sick of the whole situation, and it is stressful to be going through all this nonsense, week after week, without any resolution.
Meanwhile McCain is having a good ole time, since Hillary is putting in the meager resources she has, and attacking Obama, doing exactly what the rethugs want her to do. So many more weeks until June, and Hillary is bringing the party and the voters down.

She won tonight, Aravosis. She won. It's a big win. Stop with your rhetoric and Obama-worship for one night. Just stop and let Hillary and her supports enjoy this victory. Your obnoxious one-sided commentary is just pathetic on a night like this.

    Enough.
  • tbhull · 1 year ago
She won tonight be 10% or so when she was ahead by 25% less than a month and half ago. Clitnon's 3 am attack, Reverend Wright attack and bitter attack almost lost Cliton this state, so maybe Clinton's Depend wearing dependents argument that the Repoubs will bring these flaccid arguments in the general is just further reason to have Obama as the candidate.

Did you just hear Howard Fineman say that Elizabeth Edwards is going to turn up at Clinton rallies in NC? Her gutless husband (of whom I was a supporter) isn't going to take a stand but Elizabeth is. I think that is going to be a problem for Obama, a big problem because Elizabeth is widely respected.
  • tbhull · 1 year ago
    aquarius

Elizabeth Edwards is a a problem, but not a big one. the paternalistic well heeled white mebers of the dem establishment can help Obama but cannot hurt him that much if they support Clinton. Hell, the Edwardss' may walk the fence by having Elizabeth support Hillary and John supporting Barrack.

Do you think the dems can lose the House if the party erstablishment allows Clinton to steal the election if Obama is ahead in the pledged delegate count and the popular vote count (not counting Florida and Michigan unless a revote occurs)? I think it ids a possibility and should be discussed.
  • laketahoeblue · 1 year ago
Despite the argument that it is mathematically impossible for Hillary to win the nomination, there actually is a path (at least theoretically) for Hillary to secure the nomination. And this path is precisely Hillary's plan.

The path to victory for Hillary is to a) convince the uncommitted Super Delegates to vote for her, and b) convince some of the delegates already committed to Obama to jump ship and vote for her. Now, I'm not saying Hillary has a very good chance of this plan succeeding, but it is her plan.

It is technically and theoretically possible for Hillary to secure the nomination via this plan. It would certainly come at quite a price, but for Hillary, that is beside the point. It is her only path to victory and it is the path that guide all her strategic efforts.

Unfortunately, to have any hopes of winning by this route, Hillary must greatly destroy any sense of viability, competency or electability for Obama. She cannot win the nomination unless those delegates who are supporting Obama defect in large numbers. She can win if they do. Her plan seems highly, if not completely, improbable. But that is her plan. But i would not underestimate the cunning and effectiveness of the Clinton machine in pursuing these ends.

There is a lot more to it than just whether or not Hillary can gain enough of the popular vote in the remaining primaries to edge past Obama. The success of the Clinton campaign ultimately depends upon manipulating the nomination process itself--- amongst the delegates. All Hillary needs to do to have a shot at that is remain competitive enough to justify staying in the race through the duration. And she has just done that in Pennsylvania.
  • Upland_Oddball · 1 year ago
That video clip posted here recently, the one from "Monty Python and the Search for the Holy Grail" featurng the Black Koight taking on the King, perfectly illustrates the painful and absurd situation Hillary is forcing all of us to witness. Please encore it!

In the recent NYT article about the Pentagon's use of retired media consultants as embedded advocates within the MSM, the authors mentioned that the Pentagon refered to these planted advocates as "message multipliers." It seems very clear now that Hillary is the McCain campaigns most valuable multiplier. If a GOP hack says it, meaning the tired old talking point, it will have minimal impact, and if a member of the MSM repeats it, it gains more punch, but if Hillary uses it against Obama, it's impact is multiplied greatly. The only thing better would be if Obama would repeat it against himself. When Hillary opens her mouth, McCain benefits because its his talking points that are multiplied again and again.
