Oh! BTW, did you hear that San Francisco wants to rename their Baypoint treatment facility the George W. Bush Sewage Plant"? I vote Yes!

Last year, First Lady Laura Bush said of the costs of the Iraq war for the American people, "no one suffers more than their President and I do." Now we know why. While U.S. troops were sacrificing life and limb in the battlefields of Baghdad, President Bush sacrificed golf.
In March, President Bush offered a hint of the sacrifices he detailed today. Speaking to U.S. military and civilian personnel, Bush said of their service in the Afghanistan and Iraq war zones, "I must say, I'm a little envious."
No doubt, he heard about the greens in Tikrit, the sand traps in Fallujah, and those nasty bunkers in Tora Bora.
Keith Olbermann: Bush, SHUT THE HELL UP!!!!!. Whoa! Awesome! :-) LOL

I don't think the real reason for Bush giving up golf is to show solidarity with the troops. I think it has more to do with the Secret Service worried about having too much OPEN GROUND to cover.

I saw Errol Morris and Philip Gourevitch at the New York Public Library talking about Morris's new film "Standard Operating Procedure". They said that before Mission Accomplished, people captured in Iraq were treated as POWs and have been released. Those captured afterwards have not been accorded the protections of the Geneva Convention and the "end of major combat operations" was done on purpose so that the Bush administration could use its new theories of torture. And by the way they're rip-roaring mad that the only people convicted over the Abu Ghraib photos are the people who took them and without the photos we wouldn't know about the atrocities.
