AMERICAblog: This just in: Obama's speech was so good, it might have been bad

lies are judged harshly by history.
    bush speeches are great lies.

    twisted logic:
    bush lies when he speaks.
    Obama spoke.
    therefore..

but then again, cillizza spoke too.
  • KarenMrsLloydRichards · 1 year ago
According to Schlesinger and Silly-Zaa's logic, Obama could only have been worse (or is it better?) if he had sported a huge fake, um, what I am told is called, "basket" like Commander Guy did.
  • ron071 · 1 year ago
The Cillizza reasoning totally escapes me. What have I missed or was this a missquote? How on earth can a great speech be "bad"?
  • dad · 1 year ago
first you must suspend your disbelief and assume bush's mission accomplished speech was a great speech. as it turns out, that speech wasn't so great after all, as it was predicated on a lie.

    Obama made a great speech.
    see?
  • ron071 · 1 year ago
Hi Dad: " Mission Accomplished " now is being cited by McBush as having
resulted from his "Surge". One lie begets another in Republicanland. The key
question is can the American people be fooled again by this false sloganering?

I saw the Chris Mathews show today...that Gloria Borgers CNN didn't say one good thing about Obama.....She made it out that McCain had the good week...... Very Strange...
  • HereinDC · 1 year ago
Some of you may not like Ed Shultz....but I really do think he's right about one thing......The media wants this to be a close race... ( they know it's not) and they'll do anything to TRY and make it LOOK LIKE it's a close race.

Its not gonna work. I predict this is going to be the year of the utube commercial made by people in favor of a candidate, not by the campaigns themselves.

If I knew how, I would make one myself. The picture I have in my mind is clips of Obama's Berlin speech, intersperced with McCain singing bomb, bomb, bomb Iran. Fade to black with the words "Which future do you eant. The coice is yours"

At this point, Obama could promise to outlaw all abortions, even in cases of rape and incest, and the McCain camp/nutty neocons would STILL s**t all over him, claiming that one of those non-aborted babies might grow up to be the son of Satan or the next Hitler, and WHY OH WHY does Obama hate America so much that he'd hand it to the forces of darkness for cheap partisan political gain?

Serves him right for looking all black and being a Democrat and stuff...shoulda known better, he's sposda be so smart.
  • scytherius · 1 year ago
What is so sad/hysterical is that these people don't understand how utterly stupid they look to normal America (not that loony 25%) and the pol numbers and trends are showing it. Obama's bounce from the trip is beginning to show. Gallup's daily tracking has him up 9pts now and others are similar.

    I say . . . .KEE IT UP RIGHT WING. Don't change a DAMNED thing . . . PLEASE.

Does anybody else see an uncanny resemblance between McCain and Elmer Fudd?

    Elmer Fudd

    * Shhh! Be vewy, vewy quiet: I'm hunting wabbits!

    Te capiam, cunicule sceleste!
  • Dave of the Jungle · 1 year ago
No way is McCain as smart as Elmer Fudd.
  • Zorba · 1 year ago
Huh? This is just another example of the mainstream media's totally skewed reasoning. Apparently, Obama can't do anything right, and McCain can't do anything wrong. Darn that "liberal media"!
  • OlderAndWiser · 1 year ago
Yes, Brokaw questioned why Obama made a speech about peace and prosperity being a worldwide goal involving all countries--instead of why a corporate-run imperialist US shouldn't have all the goodies...
  • stevie314159 · 1 year ago
Yeah, like that Gettysburg Address. It was so good, history must now show that it sucked.

    2008 Presidential Election For Dummies

For Obama to win he has to :

    1) MEGA energize the Democratic base - go for the mother of all turnouts

    2) Sign up millions of new registered Dem voters as well

    3) To win the Independents throw it all at McSame, including negative ads!

    For example :

    a) Ad shows the anti-USA declarations signed by McSame as a POW - question his courage and judgment - Swift Boat him good. Real good.

    b) Attack McSame on the economy via the Keating 5 scandal - tie it into today's problems with banks

    c) Replay the Rove attack ads on McSame from the 2000 Republican S.Carolina Primary - question his ability to fight back (" if he couldn't fight back when his own family was atttacked, how will he fight for your familk? ")
ad ends showing McSame in that ridiculous manhug with Chimpo a few years after 2000

    etc. etc....Replay millions of times!

The wussy Gore Kerry vibe will NOT work this year!

    President Camacho

Nice that the corpmedia is at least 2 to 3 weeks behind web predictions of its behavior...
All they have is the relentless broadcast waterboarding of rovian McCain spin...
Cillizard and other new young punditry have the same stale preconceptions as their elders...Is Chris the snake head eating the tail or the tail being eaten???

Actually, I'm hearing that inanity in most of the reporting, even on NPR, which interviewed the Times of London foreign editor this morning. It comes down to that outrageously stupid observation that Obama was "presumptuous" in his trip and is thereby setting himself up for embarrassment when...something....we're not sure what.....occurs to expose his lack of actual experience in foreign affairs.

The Times columnist, Bronwen Maddox, author of a book called "In Defense of America," also went on and on about how much the Euro political class loves John McCain, blah blah blah.

I really think the mainstream media, including NPR, have been lobotomized. The stupidity is embarrassing to watch and listen to.
