Clinton counting Michigan and Florida and says she has more votes than Obama. Scarborough still pushing for an Obama/Clinton or Clinton/Obama ticket. Personally I don't want Clinton anywhere near the ticket. I admit I don't know much about politics but don't see how they could be compatible after all the mud slinging. Guess my skin is too thin.

It never ceases to amaze me that anyone can seriously entertain the notion that Hillary could EVER win a national popularity contest like the one for the presidency. Get real!

Look, just the mention of her name to the Republicans, is like ringing a bell to a Pavlovian dog -- the revultion is instantaneous and predictable. Any placement of the Clinton name on a ballot -- prez, VP, or even dog-catcher -- is guaranteed to be a drag on the ticket that will make Dukakis' loss in '88 look mild by comparison.

And now the Clintons are trying to convince everyone that they deserve to be handed the nomination thru a torturous exercise in mental gymnastics that completely turns logic on its head --even tho Obama has proven that more people will vote (and HAVE voted) for him than her, THEY should be the nominees simply b/c they are the reigning monarchs of the party, damnit!

It's the old, liars-can-figure-and-figures-can-lie game that Bill believes he is master of. And, Hillary, being the egomaniacal slug that she is, is perfectly willing to go along with the gag as long as it validates her place in history, as the Clintons have written it.

It is no surprise that the superdelegates either cannot or will not see the hand-writing on the wall, but it is pitiable, nonetheless.

I always call news my "reality television."

This is getting too real, tho.

Put these up on one of Chris in Paris' threads last night, but wanted to post them again, because I really think it shows the drift of things.

    Sam's Club rationing rice:

As an aside, I know some people in health care, and they're telling me they're having trouble getting just the basic stuff for their hospitals. They're just told "it's a global market now, and you can't get supplies as quickly as you used to." And, of course, we all know about fuel.

    Things are getting weird.

I don't know why I torture myself with Morning Joe. Joe is now calling Hillary "my girl" and going on and on about Obama being aloof (read uppity). Mike Barnicle talks to Barack and Michelle through the camera about Wrigth and not wearing a flag pin or being proud of America, saying, "what's wrong with you people?" Lanny Davis was on for a while, lying about the numbers. The only good thing is Mika is on vacation so I don't have to watch Joe abuse her, and her ending up apologizing to him for making him do it to her.
  • Jimbo62 · 1 year ago
And I don't miss Mika's giggle, I think she is really in love with Joe and seems to enjoy his abuse. Joe Scarborough is a slick shill for the republicans. He's trying to help Clinton get the nomination because the republicans are dying to run against her, Bill, Monica, Gennifer, Paul Jones, Whitewater, Vince Foster........the list could go on for a while.
  • troqua · 1 year ago
Bush_Bites, add to that list this one about the depletion of rye supplies: http://www.reuters.com/article/ousiv/idUSN22328...

Good morning. I'm going to clean the kitchen sink. (Not really, just cleaning a bathroom...).

If I never see the Clintons again, that will be a good day.

    --------

Always seems like on all those shows, there's more Clinton guests than Obama guests. I always wonder if that's something lacking in Obama's campaign.

We heard about it here from John too, when he said the Edwards and Clinton people were always in touch with the bloggers, but they never heard from the Obama people.

Of course, the Clinton people were so obnoxious to the bloggers that they may have done more harm than good, but I still wonder if some kind of outreach mechanism is lacking in the Obama campaign.

(And I'm not even talking about the fact that you always see Hillary on the networks on the Eve of a big primary and the day after, but rarely Obama.)

    What's up with that?
  • troqua · 1 year ago
That's a fair and good question, and I don't have an answer. There's certainly no lack of support for Obama among bloggers and commenters. And you're right about the shows, as well. We can all list the Clinton surrogates, but I'd be hard pressed to name Obama's people beyond Axelrod and maybe Claire McCaskill (if she can be considered a surrogate even). Are they trying to overmanage their surrogates to avoid things like the Samantha Power "monster" comment?
  • Jimbo62 · 1 year ago
Desperate spinning going on at MSNBC on Morning Joe. I certainly hope the Clinton campaign is paying him for all the work he is doing for them. It's kind of ironic though, that Chuck Todd was on with the reality check that there is no way she can win and then they segway into Lanny Davis spinning furiously, but of course Joe doesn't ask him about the reality of the race.......that she can't win. Reality doesn't appeal to these ratings whores.

    Oh well.

Everybody gets all excited when Hillary hits an occasional three.

But she's behind by 15 with a minute left.

I still haven't decided whether McCain with an OVERWHELMINGLY DEMOCRATIC congress might not be better than Hillary in the White House.

You know Hillary would lose Congress, just like Bubba did. Hillary in the White House with a Repub Congress is a scary thought.

McCain said no to ads in North Carolina but party heads in NC say they will run them anyway. Very smooth Johnny; good move. Makes you look like you are a decent fella and they went over your head. Don't buy it for a minute. McCain acts like he doesn't want the ads but really he does. The repugs do think the voters are stupid.
  • OlderAndWiser · 1 year ago
Bush Bites, not the Soviet Union, this is the Fourth Reich, buddy. Corporate control of our govt. and the press...same effect, but different wing.

Wow, Americablog is slipping. Big story this AM and only about 8 or 10 people posting. Where did everyone go???
  • OlderAndWiser · 1 year ago
McCrazy is NOT clean by any means. These ads are running early and won't affect the primary, which Obama pretty much has sewn up. Nothing will budge Obama's lead, I don't believe. Besides, the people who wouldn't vote for a black guy in the first place are the ones who will pay attention--it just enforces their racism.
  • janetongirard2 · 1 year ago
Still haven't seen anything on here about how 95+% of the blacks in Pennsylvania voted for Obama. Lots of coverage about working class white women and Catholics, yet nothing about blacks. Bias in the media and the blogs? Duh.
  • Sage24 · 1 year ago
It was disgusting watching the Clinton camp yesterday, making political hay after her win in PA, It was like being in the twilight zone. Anyone would have thought they were ahead in the number's game. She even fantasized that she won the most votes (counting Florida and Michigan), they even implied that she would be the winner, if they had followed the republican rules. Hey, she acted like a nasty republican, so why not follow the rules and be the winner too? It was annoying to see the msm also go on this make believe trip.
They kept asking if Obama could win over her supporters, those blue collar workers, who it seems prefer McCain over Obama, but hardly anyone in the media reversed that and asked if Pinnochio could win over the black votes.
The Clintons have changed that goal post, again and again, to suit their desperate attempts to win this, and it is getting tiresome and old.

Here is a good article from P.M. Carpenter.
It speaks about Hillary's negativity, which no one seems to be discussing in the media.

I feel sorry for the people who really can't afford to be giving to a political campaign but are just now giving to the Hillary campaign.

There is an ick factor that I can't describe.

It's almost like a "Jim and Tammy Faye Bakker " kind of sham.

Those 2 knew they were asking for money that wasn't really going to be used in the proper way.

Sorry, but it's how I feel.

Good morning, beautiful AmBloggers. The azaleas are long gone in central Florida and the bougainvillea is in full bloom. The sun is shining and the palms are swaying in the breeze. Hillary still thinks Florida loves her and maybe some people do but November is a long way off and we've got to stock up for hurricane season (June 1 - November 30) before then. First things first. Meanwhile, the flowers are in full bloom and everything is lovely. The only workable resolution to the shenanigans surrounding us is to turn off the television machine and go for a walk. It's very nice outside today and walking is the best of all possible exercises.
As for Hillary, just say no.
  • aquarius2 · 1 year ago
    Sage 24

That also annoyed me. The msm took Clinton's talking points and ran with them all damn day. I will say that I was disappointed that the Obama campaign did not strongly and loudly refute Clinton. Right now it is hard to determine if the msm is pulling an Edwards and freezing out any response from the Obama campaign or if the Obama campaign was just more or less silent.

Yes, that Rezko mess, along with Don Siegelman's accusations might even lead to a perp walk for KKKarl...even if it takes an entirely new Justice Dept.

The Rethugs just don't dig too deeply, do they?

Rev. Wright is scheduled to appear before the National Press Club to speak on separation of church and state and social issues on 4/28.

Glad to know he's not shrinking from the criticism being leveled at him from the rightwing nutjobs. (Just saw one of those shitty ads from the NC Rethugs on CSPAN--that one used his "goddamn America" phrase, by itself and out of context, of course.)

My, my that Rove has been a busy fellow. First his involvement in the Alabama governor's case and now this. Wouldn't it be nice if someone in the Dem party started investigating Rove's apparent running the Justice department.
  • ctcdac · 1 year ago
You are so right - we don't have to imagine it, the show is on everyday and the ratings are getting worse with every episode.

Hillary is suppose to be coming to my city on Friday and since this is a military town she's bringing some big shot former Joint chiefs....like that's gonna help her here. The city didn't bother when she sent Billery out here three weeks ago, who the heck cares if she's out here this week. Don't these people get it, WE DON'T LIKE YOU - STAY AWAY YOU'RE MAKING US ALL SICK.
  • Jimbo62 · 1 year ago
I'm sure the Obama people make themselves available to the media, the media controls who they have on, not the candidate. Ask John Edwards about that.
  • aquarius2 · 1 year ago
This has received little discussion in the press or elsewhere but I hope it becomes a full blown issue for McCain in the fall. Women should take note---he doesn't think you deserve equal pay.
