    Good morning...

Moore also said when the Wall Street bankers and thieves came for bail-out money no one asked them how they got there..........
  • RIPWAMU · 11 months ago
Exactly. There didn't have to do anything and they still don't. The GAO report proves that the money was basically thrown out the window of a moving car.

Good morning! Jeb Bush is getting buzz in Florida today. Will he run for the Senate. Wouldn't he rather be president? Florida pundits assert that his only negative is an unfortunate connection to his last name. I can only wonder what they mean, if he changed his name to Roosevelt, would he become a better person? I doubt it. He'd still be the autocratic fascist spoiled brat who married into well-placed Mexican money.
  • grandma · 11 months ago
I think the Bush family is hoping Jeb can fix their tarnished image.

    Too late for that....
  • Bush_Bites · 11 months ago
    Yeah, that's what I'm thinking.

He's allegedly the "smart one," so they figure he can help undo the damage the Chimp did.
  • RIPWAMU · 11 months ago
Have you seen Lil Bush on Comedy Central? I love Jeb on there LMAO
  • red_dwarf · 11 months ago
Jeb is also a pathological liar. Of course the rePigs will love that.

Speaking of automobiles, I thought this huffpo story was interesting.

Hawaii inking a deal for electric automobile recharging stations throughout the islands.

I'm thinking I really need to buy into some "green" mutual fund--quickly.

    More Palin ‘Accessories’ Spending Revealed

Campaign finance reports for the final weeks of the campaign, covering Oct. 16 to Nov. 24, that are scheduled to be filed with the Federal Election Commission tomorrow will show additional purchases but totaling less than $30,000, Republican officials confirmed.

  • teresaInPa · 11 months ago
why in heaven's name do you care? Do we have any idea how much campaigns spend to make the men running look good?
This fascination is nothing but sexism.
  • aquarius2 · 11 months ago
No, it is what it is, unadulterated fascination. Nothing wrong with that.

Hard to believe the GOP is still so ga ga over Palin....this morning Mika called Palin 'dynamite'....

sheesh....you'd think they would be embarrassed by her stupidity.
  • Bush_Bites · 11 months ago
Mika's always been in love with Palin.

    It's weird.
  • grandma · 11 months ago
Weird indeed....for several weeks now Mika's been trying to wear her hair like Palin....haha...it's too short but she's trying....
  • tlsintx · 11 months ago
bob cesca at huffpo describes perfectly the slimy grease spot that is the current GOP...haaaaaahahahahaha.

    and good morning!

Pity that Moore didn't know what McCain, Pat Buchannan & the lot of the "America Firsters" have long known. The Big 3 make shite cars.
Then again Moore makes a lot of money so he can afford to blow it on auto repairs. Perhaps we should, instead, be looking to blame the R & D guys who design cars that don't work.
  • LeeFromHamburgNY · 11 months ago
So, GM Exec says that if they go under, they'll take the other two with them??? Doesn't this have a conspiratorial, arm-twisting flavor to it? And so what if those execs work for a $1 a year. They've each made enough in their lives to feed 10 small cities. And why hasn't anyone discussed the price of these vehicles? They're all too high for the product we get. Maybe if cars were more affordable, more people would buy them. Perhaps the big 3 should go hungry for a while. What's another million + jobs lost in this country. Everything's in shambles now. What better time to start over completely, with all new ideas. I still like the idea of giving all workers over 18 a $200,000 stimulus check. It would do more good than giving it to the people who don't really need it...
  • tlsintx · 11 months ago
    amen. bingo.
  • RIPWAMU · 11 months ago
Wow, what's another million+ jobs? Are you serious? What a world you live in... How about you go hungry for awhile? Why don't you go visit a city that has lost a plant and see what really happens?

There is no arm-twisting, it is reality. Mainly because if one goes then suppliers go and since the suppliers are intertwined it will affect the other 2 getting parts which means they will eventually (or quickly) also go down.

I will agree with you on the $200,000 though. I'd gladly go buy a car and probably a house with that.. Not to mention paying off my minimal debt. A win-win for everyone.
  • LeeFromHamburgNY · 11 months ago
You sound like either a politician or a union worker. I have been going hungry for quite some time. I lost my job last May and have only been able to find part-time, mediocre paying jobs. I live just outside of Buffalo, NY, so don't tell me about living in a city that's lost jobs. Things are not going to get any better if we continue along the path we're on now. As far as arm-twisting, I'm tired of threats and innuendos from people that make $20 million a year and then complain that their business is going under. They're the ones that need a shot of reality and a taste of what the average American is going through!!!
  • RIPWAMU · 11 months ago
First, I'm sorry that you have been unemployed. I was on work down for 11 weeks this year right after moving cross country, so I know how hard it can be. I wish you the best of luck! Since you have experienced the roughest of times, I can't imagine (or hope) you truly meant what is another million + jobs.

I am not a politician or a union worker. I work in health care consulting and go to school. I was born and raised in Michigan and know many people who have been or will be affected by layoffs and downturns in and around the auto industry since the 50s. My concern and compassion lies with the people directly or indirectly related to the industry though. When an industry dies the entire area dies then it starts to branch out. A million + jobs will quickly turn into 2 or 3 million+ on a national level. Everyone from the McDonald's worker to school children will be affected. The loss of tax revenues alone can halt our schools and state governments. It would be mayhem through a lot of this country and certainly not help you find meaningful work anytime soon.

Again, I truly wish you the best!
  • LeeFromHamburgNY · 11 months ago
I appreciate your sentiments. I wish I could say that there are not going to be more large numbers of layoffs and terminations, but I don't think that's going to be the case. In order to get the money that the auto manufacturers want, they are going to have to trim their workforce considerably. If they do that just to get the money, what's to say that they'll change their ways and improve their methods? Another thing that will happen, they will reduce production and this will result in more jobs lost due to the trickle-down effect. I hope I'm wrong, but I don't think that just handing them billions of dollars is going to solve the problem.

One more thing, is the attitude of workers. This has to change. People in this area as well as Michigan, can no longer expect high wages for sitting (or standing) on an assembly line for 8 hours a day and tightening a few bolts. Those days are gone. Just to give you an idea of what I'm talking about, here's a link to a local news station blog. From the responses you should be able to see that there is a lot of work to be done, just to change peoples' views.

    http://www.wgrz.com/news/local/story.aspx?story...

You might wonder why I don't get out of this area. Well, its somewhat complicated. I have certain obligations such as my 82 year old mother. See has her own house, and is in decent health, but relies on me for certain things. She refuses to leave, which at her age, I can try to understand. Therefore my options are somewhat limited. The other factor that might be affecting my employment chances is that in less than 3 weeks, I'll be turning 59. I feel I'm competing with people that are better educated and younger. I know these sound like excuses, but they are the situations that I have put myself in.

I don't consider my story to be unique, and I expect more people with similar situations will be finding themselves unemployed before this mess is cleaned up...

    Take care...

he is not in office yet. Bush had 90 percent after 9-11. Don't expect this to last
  • aquarius2 · 11 months ago
You are right, it is probably going to go higher.

OT: Archbishop Niederauer of San Francisco played a pivotal role in bringing the Mormons across the boarder to pass Prop H8. Niederauer, the previous bishop of Salt Lake City for 11 years, declined interview requests, but wrote that "to insist that citizens be silent about their religious beliefs" would have had a detrimental effect on history, gagging the voices of important abolitionists and people in the civil rights movement.

Uh.... excuse me, your excellency. Wasn't Prop 8 about taking AWAY civil rights?

In his statement Wednesday, titled "Moving forward together," Niederauer urged both sides to tone down the rhetoric and move toward a common cause.

Ok your eeeeexcellency. How about you leave us alone?!

"Having Catholics, evangelicals and Jews in a coalition was exactly the right way to do it," said Michael Otterson, a Catholic public relations queen. "We knew someone would make this a Mormon-versus-gays battle."

Well yes, I must admit gays do tend to be unreasonable in that way. The Mormons are our friends.

"Should have thought of that one the first time around."

I think you should lay off this targetting. Everyone agrees something should be done, THAT comment and the previous bellyacking is why they won;t get anything.

I suppose Wall Street showed up in rented ford fiesta's?
  • RIPWAMU · 11 months ago
Did Wall Street even show up?

Another thing that pisses me off is that one of the Senators actually suggested giving the money to the big banks instead of the automakers in exchange for getting rid of (?) some of the automakers debt in order to free up money for them. Wonder who has their hands in his pockets tinkering around?????
  • Hawk · 11 months ago
No RIP, they didn't have to, THEY had a friend (on the inside) do the talking for them.

AIG however, were allowed to take 85B, swank some away in a resort (not transportaion or anything) and come back for more!

I'm not sure how I meant it and I'm sure you understand.
  • RIPWAMU · 11 months ago
I did understand you :-) My post was dripping with my sarcasm at Wall Street and their insiders :-)

Mark Leno and members of the California Legislature and its gay and lesbian caucus have introduced measures supporting the repeal of Proposition 8, the constitutional ban on same-sex marriage approved by voters last month. The resolutions would have no force of law, but are intended to get law makers on record about Prop 8. Supporters of Prop 8 ridicule the notion that such measures would have any influence on the State Court which is considering Prop 8's validity. I'm sure they're right, just as I'm sure their threats to recall any Judge on the State Supreme Court that votes to strike down Prop 8 is a waste of time. Leno's measure is simply to show support for gay rights. The pro-prop 8's threats are simply more bullying tactics from those who, like most bullies, can not win except by bullying. Bully for Leno!

Can someone please tell me how to start impeachment on Sen. Shelby if you don't live in Alabama?

This guy is a joke. I am listening to him in these hearings and he actually asked (paraphrasing) ' last time you came here on corporate jets, this time by car. Did you actually drive or have a driver?' and he wanted each to answer. What a waste of time and it shows that he does not take this seriously.

A couple points to make to Sen Shelby - first, you better not ask for any federal assistance for the city of Birmingham after the waste system fleecing of the taxpayers. Second, when Mercedes and Hyundai and every other foreign maker in your state asks for a tax break or assistance, you better ask them those same questions and give them the same ignorant questioning you are posing to AMERICAN companies.

I loathe this man and all he doesn't stand for.
