McCain is desperate and this was a desperate stunt.
Yes, he is very desperate, but I would use another word. It was a pathetic stunt. Very transparently trying to run from the debates knowing he will be slaughtered and yet put the blame on Obama. McCain is very clearly a big, big loser.

I heard Clinton in an interview about palin, gushing and giving her accolades... pathetic. bubba doesn't seem like he's on Obama's side. Not a peep from Hilary at all either.
And another thing, whats this little Clinton conference gonna achieve anyway? More bullshit that the economy is dead... Hello??? we already know that!!!!

McCain's campaign is like the economy: The fundamentals are strong. NO, his campaign has been a dog and pony show from the start, he nearly flamed out in the primaries and beat the weakest field the repugs have ever had. Think about it, the shrub beat him in 2000, not exactly rocket science. McCain has run the worst campaign and picked the worst vice-presidential candidate ever.

So if he doesn't show up at the debate...sounds like a done deal, may as well have the election Saturday and get Obama inaugarated Sunday, and GW can get his ass packing and out of the WH.

Has anyone picked apart the lies in George Bush's address to the nation last night? I noticed this nonsense about needing 21st century regulation. What he really needed was 19th century antitrust enforcement (since Reagan antitrust has pretty been well off the table in Washington although it still sits in the US Code)? And, moreover, everything was pretty manageable under the 20th century Depression laws that the New Deal put in place until, of course, Newt Gingrich and his revolutionaries undid them. What a bunch of liars.

I keep trying to tell you guys, she's not a royal highness. She's just plain ol' Lady de Rothschild. Being royal is much snazzier than being a lady. And I ought to know. I've read lots of English novels.

Breakfast TV Braying Heads:
O Humanity! O the Hypocrisy! The Braying Heads all atizzy this morning about the multiple hypocrisies and failings of:
#1 CBS. Mika's firm jaw clenched, her arms angrily crossed in front of her heaving maternal bosom, as she railed at Letterman colluding, somehow, with Katie Couric to use feed of McCain being made up for the Evening News for Letterman to mock the heroic Maverick. She believes that CBS out to "get" McCain with such unethical deployment of prep footage, and how wrenching it must be to be Mika as she watched her Sarah, who is single-handedly "redefining" the American family (and for the better!) being ridiculed all over the media landscape for her vapid and incoherent answers last night to Katie's probing. When Willie, who's so darn cute when he's at his smarmiest, opined that Sarah was a "little shaky" last night, Mika looked down and looked totally nauseated. And it wasn't morning sickness, either. In any case, all the heads agreed: Letterman went way over the line, mocking a war hero and POW simply because he bailed on some stupid late night talk show. Why does it always have to be about Letterman and his Huge Ego? After all, Obama canceled Saturday Night Live the other day, and nobody whined about that! Lorne Michaels didn't do a whole hour trashing Obama, did he? Such hypocrisy from the Hollywood LIberal Elite!
#2 Harry Reid. What a hypocrite! One day he says McCain is necessary to the Mother of All Bail Outs (it's now called "Rescue Package") and then the next day he dismisses the Maverick War Hero for "airdropping" in (to use Barney Frank's unfortunate word, since Barney forgot that McCain had to airdrop to safety when he got shot down over Vietnam and became a heroic POW) well after the Rescue Package was just about finished. No wonder McCain HATES Warshington, what with guys like Reid in charge.
#3. Barack Obama. Some short New York billionaire who isn't Bloomberg told Mika and Joe that it was outrageous that Obama wants to carry on with the debate tomorrow night as if nothing serious had happened! The economy is melting down, for God's sake. And big deal guys like Mort Z are hemorraghing $$$. And Doocy equally outraged that Obama, who had 10 chances to "debate" McCain in Town Halls, is now crying that McCain won't debate him tomorrow night. Why does Obama hate America so much that he can't put the country ahead of his own campaign, like the maverick war hero has done. Peggy Noonan, who NEVER said the McCain campaign was so cynical to exploit Palin for her "bullshit narrative", knitted her brow, locked her jaw and SO earnestly wondered if the suspension of the McCain campaign wasn't a brilliant move.
All in all, things are in disarray, and while Obama seems too focused on business as usual, the crap shooter John McCain's NEW effort to shake things up, again!, may just pay off in the long run. America likes McCain when he's flying by the seat of his pants and throwing Hail Mary passes. Which may well mean: Cindy McCain, who's the White House chef going to be, First Lady?!

A senior Obama adviser says that the CPD has told both campaigns that there will be questions about the economic crisis during Friday's debate.
"But self is McCain's selling point. He is either the man on horseback riding to the rescue, or he is nothing -- or, more precisely, the loser come November. Obama, Lord knows, has his flaws, but he does not seem to believe that the nation's crises are primarily about him."
Letterman praised McCain during the show and then told it like it is. McCain manufactured this crap about not showing up and its not working. No one is buying it and he better show on Friday or he will look like a fraud. I'd love to listen in on their campaign right now, "Whose idea was it to cancel the debate? We aren't fooling anyone this time, shit!"

Also I have been trying to figure out what is means to suspend his campaign. Is he temporarily disbanding his staff? Other then cancel some ad buys what did he do? He went on TV and bashed Obama - that is still campaigning. He is going to his scheduled event today - that is still campaigning. He is suspending his campaign for the few minutes it is convenient - to push Davis and Palen out of the news cycle and postpone the debates.

Snotty Nicolle Wallace told Mika and Joe that even she was going to "disappear" right after her segment was over. Let's see if we see her again today...

The McCain ads on television are still running here in Pennsylvania. Saw three this morning while getting ready for work, they were not 527 ads but the "I am John McCain and I approve this message" ads. Campaign ads going on September 25 one day after his announcement of suspending his campaign. He just out and out lies.

Peggy Noonan "picked up" that there is a general media sense that "Mr." Obama is "very much" in the lead but she's not sure she shares that sense and she's not sure that it's true. What a douche!

Please somebody, please Mr. Kucinich start a progressive wing of the Democratic party. If one were in place now we could probably grab a lot of rethug seats and throw out the likes of Pelosi and Reid.
The Dems are on the verge of perpetuating the Bush legacy (with the bailout)...I hope they listen to their constituency for once.

I'm thinking...at the bailout hearings....WHY AREN'T WE HEARING FROM THE TOP ECONOMISTS IN THE COUNTRY?
The only people we are hearing from are the pricks who put us in this situation and the government officials who bend to the will of the corporate lobbyists.

You know, I saw that Nicole Wallace, the McCain Senior Campaign manger, on Morning Joe today, and she CONTINUES to lie! She really is trying to convince the American people that what that so-called "candidate" of the GOP is doing is really stellar! When Joe Scarborough told her that McCain undercut Obama yesterday, she said, '"you see that as an undercut?" UFB! She's stupid, Palin's stupid, McCain's stupid and everybody on that campaign is stupid. I'm convinced of THAT!
